I think I'm alone on this one, but I really prefer installing the motherboard before installing all of the components. Otherwise, you're trying to handle a very unwieldy block of several components and fit them carefully into the io shield. Having the motherboard installed first also makes it totally stable so that when you install the RAM and the cpu fan, the motherboard doesn't move around on you. Really cool build, and I also like that you're changing some of the topics of your videos. Definitely worthwhile to cover more than laptops. Let's see some monitors, more keyboards etc.
@MashITTech

If I am installing in a large case then I also put the motherboard in first and add the components. The only reason I do it this way on small ITX builds is it can be fiddly putting the components once inside a cramped case. And thanks mate, we are trying to change it up a bit this year as I really miss doing PC builds plus laptops have been really boring this year! I am also working on a new keyboard review as we speak and I have a couple of tiny PC's to review too! And I do want to get into monitors but need to up my equipment to be able to test them in a more professional manner

Cool little system and great review. I’m still rocking my nzxt h200i which is a larger size mini itx case. I’ve a 4070 paired with an old i9-9900K, good enough for fluid gaming at 4K in the games I play. That Asus pro art sure is a compact card. I also have an Aorus 4070ti in my sim racing rig and that card is gigantic in comparison!

the nzxt h210 was my first ITX case and I loved it. Only reason I gave it up was the lack of airflow for the gfx card but man it looked so good! And yeah the ProArt is an amazing card, even though its tiny (for a 4080) the temps are really good!

Excellent build! But I'm going to have to put you on the spot and ask about it being portable. It looks like a decent carry in bag, but what about a monitor? I'd like to see your solution to going to a LAN party; what you would bring with you, and how you would transport it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to poo-poo your build. I genuinely like seeing how, and what people do and taking those ideas to make my set up 'better.' Truth to be told, on another channel, I enjoy looking at the desk reviews his viewers send in and then wondering if something in their layout would work for me. My desk is ever changing!

Thanks for the info, that helps. In answer to your question, I would want an i7 14700k/13700k paired with the 4080 super. For this combo you are really going to want a good AIO to keep the temps on the intel under control as Intel do run much hotter than AMD. Therefore my advice would be either FormD T1 v2.1 (most expensive but smallest) or Dan a4 H20 (slightly bigger but easier and cheaper to get hold of). With regards to the motherboard I would recommend the MSI z790 edge, I have an overview on the mash extra channel, its an amazing board with 3 m.2 slots for storage, good VRM and heatsinks and a competent BIOS. Lastly, I cannot recommend the ProArt 4080 enough, being a small 4080 makes it much easier in a compact case and the performance has been amazing. I do have both the T1 and Dan a4 h20 and am planning videos soon :)

That is very true, I have mine down to a tiny keyboard, mouse and mobile screen which is handy from home>office>Friends etc but I wouldn't want to set it up in a coffee shop or airport lounge. @MashITTech
@MashITTech 29 күн бұрын
It depends on the card if warranty is voided but a lot can easily have the fans removed without even the manufacturer knowing (I am using a zotac 4070 in an upcoming video). And with a very cheap cable converter you can still have fan control on the GPU with the noctuas. But in all honesty the 4080 super pro art is such a good card that would certainly be the easiest option and I am only deshrouding a 4070 to make it fit in a TINY case :)

Definitely could've saved a few hundred bucks (like down to $1,950-2,000 just eyeballing it, maybe even lower) with a cheaper mini itx mobo (mini itx b650s can be found at $150), cheaper ssd (2 TB nvme ssds can be found at $90-100, sometimes lower), cheaper ram (there are 32 gb ddr 5 6,000 mt/s ram kits available at $80 or lower), and cheaper (msrp - $1,000) 4080 Super that would've done just fine.
