Something you guys should definitely have mentioned with shadow systems especially given your civilian defense branded ideology (which i agree with). Shadow is the only firearms company truly going after that ideology in how they do business. It's the sole reason i switched to shadow exclusively for real use case. There are tons of good custom guns out there from the factory. Two things shadow brings to the table besides the guns... 1. Their lifetime warranty is for the life of the gun. Not the owner. So if you lass the guns on as an heirloom, the warranty remains. 2. Most importantly, if you ever use the gun in self defense and the gin is takrn for evidence, send them a copy of the police report. They send you a new one of the model you had. No one else does this. Thats supporting the second amendment. Especially for those of us on extremely tight budgets. I saved for a year for my shadow xr920 set up and its amazing knowing that if the worst should happen, they have my back

Just as an aside, the Holosun 507 Comp is a competition optic, not a duty optic. It was never designed to be "duty ready". The 507/407C, on the other hand, can easily survive the tests you put them through. Those are duty optics. Now, whether you want to buy Chinesium is a different issue completely, but I don't think it is fair to blame the 507 Comp for breaking, as it was not designed for duty use.

I've put around 25k rounds through shadow systems pistols, and i have a little under 20k rounds through my main DR920. I actually ended up making Master in USPSA CO with my DR920. The shooting experience itself has been pretty great with a few caveats. With the exception of the DR920P, i've had a lower malfunction rate with shadow systems pistols than with glock pistols. Unfortunately, i feel like the mechanical accuracy of my main gun may have started to degrade after ~19k rounds or so, which isn't the biggest deal in the world, but is annoying when I'm trying to shoot steel targets at long range for fun. My only other complaint is that ive had a few parts breakages. The magazine release beveled off and stopped retaining magazines at around 9.5k. i believe this is because they specced the polymer for pmags rather than oem glock mags. I also had locking block pins shear in half at 11.5k and 14.5k rounds. Fortunately, on gen 4 style designs, the pin serves a redundant function, and the gun was still operational in each case. I've seen other owners complain of similar issues, which leads me to believe that there may be quality control / metallurgy issues with the frame pins.

In the first 200 rounds, it was difficult to get through a mag without a jam. In the first 100, it was difficult to go 3 shots without a jam. It never got better than 1 in 100 failure to go into battery. All of that only to have a catastrophic failure sub 1k rounds is just pathetic tbh. I can forgive the jams a little because its a comped gun and i was just using factory 115 grain. But the mag catch is indicative of serious qc problems. It seems many others echo a lot of qc problems from shadow systems. If I was in procurement for a police or military agency, i would not allow shadow systems to be used as a duty gun. My thread protector has long since Worn off the coating and now looks like polished tin rather than bronze 😂. It has had the same 507c the whole time which is now so scuffed up half the black paint is gone. I once dropped it from chest height STRAIGHT onto the optic straight on a boulder while hiking, another time when to set it on the counter and it fell off onto the hardwood floor again straight on the optic. I've smashed it, bashed it (unintentionally. I don't try to abuse my equipment but that's just how things go) and not only has it never given me any problems, but I have not touched the optic a single time since the day I bought it. The day I put it on and zeroed it for 124gr +P Federal HSTs is the last time I touched it. Still shoots as good as the day I got it, and has never lost zero or backed a screw out ect. Why on earth does Glock refuse to maintain production of the RTF2 textured frames? It is by far the best factory glock grip texture amd quite frankly better than most stipple jobs..
@inferninxАй бұрын
Because the texture on the RTF2 frame wears out faster. I have a RTF2 frame for my G17, and while it is amazing, the grip texture had started to fade away and smooth over after a lot of hard use. Its also not fun to IWB carry with it because the texture is very aggressive and abrasive, and it has rubbed my skin raw more than once. Personally I think they should use a wrap around semi aggressive texture similar to the M&P guns for more surface area, but that all requires retooling and added cost in molds.

Ive been daily carrying a DR920P (yes i trust a compensated gun) and having put 2-3k rounds on it in the last few months and so far here is my take. i love how strong the mounting screws are they go very deep, it is incredibly accurate with the right load (ProCastBullet co 148 swc) i have had sub 3 inch 10rd group at 20 yards offhand. It is a very lightweight gun (pro and con) it weighs the SAME as my gen 5 glock 19 (no light no optic) with an rmr and a tlr1 hl on it which is incredible. I wish the stippling was a bit more aggressive. And the big con of the mounting system is that they have a proprietary extractor system so they can have the long screws meaning you need to remove your optic to clean the extractor which kinda sucks. The trigger however was able to be modified (gunsmithing) to have a nice wall especially for a striker fired gun but its much heavier than my stock 19 and both are high polished trigger groups and again gunsmith work. a bit of a niche point is that the front tritium sight is very bright to the point where night shooting is almost difficult without using a weapon light and ofc it completely blows out my pvs 14 lol but other than that its been a great firearm.

Christ I’m so tired of the shit thrown towards holosun. Not everyone can afford a fricking $6-700 optic. What’s the deal with shitting on things made in China? The phone in your pocket, made in China, the cameras you shoot on, maybe made in China but definitely not made here. You can’t walk around your house without finding hundreds of things made in China and other countries. Yes, of course, if there is an option, a GOOD option, to buy American, I’m all for it. But acting like just cause it’s made there it’s somehow a POS is ridiculous. Plus, why the hell you racking a competition pistol optic like that anyway? NO ONE is going to do that? The world is an interconnected place. China has been the world’s factory for the last 50 years from cheap ass labor. Thankfully some of that is changing but this is the whole reason Russia is still able to support a war despite heavy sanctions. The world needs to do business with them regardless. The trope of shitting on holosun is played out and denigrated by people who either don’t understand contemporary commerce or have a personal bias. Blah

None of my normal 507c's have given me any issues either and I don't even know what my round count is on those. It's a big number though. I've had them a number of years and I actually do shoot. I will say the dot on my sro is the most crisp dot I have ever owned. it's even better than the red dots on my rifles. when I say crisp I mean it's the only red dot I own that actually looks like a dot. I have a slight astigmatism so all my other dots have a slight tail to them. SRO is noticably cleaner looking.

I've got a 507K and a 507C both with 10-15k on them. There was a period of my life I gave the DPP a try. First one was a lemon out of the box. Second one turned off and wouldnt turn back on after getting hot. Third one the glass shattered on a clearance drill. Ive got 10+ Leupold optics from mk5's to vx3s. Tried the mps, electronics board died within 1k on the first one. they replaced it and has been living as an offset for about a year. Long story short, in my small sample size my holosuns have been more reliable than 2 "high end" optics, which i find to be pretty unacceptable.
@oskar6661Ай бұрын
You're not alone. While we're not abusing them beyond normal range drills, my brother and I have perhaps...15 Holosuns between us? Six pistol optics, and a bunch of the basic dot options. Only been maybe 4-5 years total, but so far not a failure to be seen. Dropped a few rifles on the dots, still good to go. Some rain, some mud, plenty of dust/sand, and they're still working. I have an old 4 MOA Aimpoint T1 still going from 2010(?), so I'm not saying the Holosuns will last that long - but being able to put an optic on all of my rifles/rigs is nicer than being able to afford one 'proper' Aimpoint, etc. I have carried a Holosun on a carry gun (though I don't currently) without fear of failure, etc.
