Building a small dry-stone house in the woods using the dry stone walling method. The dry stone walls will be approximately 1,5m tall, when the wall and the fireplace are finished, my plans are to use stones as a floor, then build a bed with trees, and last but not least a roof and a door out of wood. I do have some more plans for this place but that will be a surprise in the future.
Part 1 (Day 1-3) of this build can be found here: 👉👉 • Building a Small Stone... 👈👈
Part 2 (Day 4-5) of this build can be found here: 👉👉 • Building a Small Stone... 👈👈
Part 3 (Day 6-10) of this build can be found here: 👉👉 • Building a Small Stone... 👈👈
Part 4 (Day 11-13) of this build can be found here: 👉👉 • Building a Small Stone... 👈👈
Dry stone is a building method by which structures are constructed from stones without any mortar to bind them together. Dry stone structures are stable because of their construction method, which is characterized by the presence of a load-bearing façade of carefully selected interlocking stones.
While the dry stone technique is most commonly used for the construction of double-wall stone walls and single-wall retaining terracing, dry stone sculptures, buildings, fortifications, bridges, and other structures also exist.

MY REVIEW
A well-thought tent for a reasonable cost with all the necessities I look for in a tent. I was surprised by how well ventilated it was, usually in these temperatures (-1C to -3C), I would have woken up all moist, but not this morning! I also really enjoyed the cross poles to get more head and elbow space, an easy design that really makes a difference. It could be set up in minutes and taken down in even less time. I'm really happy with the "Space Dome 2" and will use it a lot in the future.

Now that we see how the affects of a solid snow and freeze have... Im very interested in the amount of fuel you will need to burn to keep the stones warm against the cold nights... Best build on KZbin👍 I can't wait until the next episode❤️

Hello Eric! Yes indeed, this was filmed in mid April and we did not expect snow this trip. Yeah I might have to insulate it with some moss. I waiting for a wood stove I ordered from Amazon 2 months ago, I'll use that during summer and I'll try it during the winter but I'll probably just remove it and have the fire in the fireplace without the wood stove to heat it up properly. Thank you brother, I really appreciate it 👍🙏❤

Thank you brother, much appreciated 🙏 I lost the latest clips of the build, my memory card broke and it can't be repaired, so I'll probably tare some of it down my next trip to build it up again. 😅 Have an awesome week 🍺😊

It's interesting to me the difference between the dog's behavior when there's snow. He's more like... Okay dude let's go, instead of exploring,lol. Woops... Now I see him playing!

That is going to be one great stone cabin . You may consider building some stone mass from the fireplace protruding into the cabin , for a cooking surface . I am sure you know what you are doing . Stay safe

Thank you John! The fireplace is now finished, I've made some improvements since this video was filmed. The plan is to have a wood stove in there during the summer. I'm still waiting for the wood stove, I ordered it from amazon 2 months ago. Thank you for watching and have an awesome week, my friend 🙏👍🇸🇪

Progress is good and can’t wait to follow you to the end product. I have tent camped many times and always end up with condensation on the inside. It’s a bit annoying to have a drop of water hit you in the face early in the morning. It was good to see you review this tent and I will definitely look at their product line. Sköl!

So glad to see you are back at it and working on the stone cabin! I'm curious as to why you need to leash your dog? Is he prone to wander and get lost?
@TSMAdventures
@TSMAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I'm happy to hear that. My Husky likes to explore and hunt other animals, big and small. During this period it's illegal to have the dogs off leash in Sweden if I don't have an "invisible leash", which I have on the border collie but not the husky. The animals are now giving birth and laying eggs etc. I do however keep her occupied, 1,5h walk in the morning and the evening and a walk + playtime every 2 hours for 30 min each 😊🐶

Watching you meticulously putting each stone down is a lesson is patience. I'm humbled. I do have one question about the tent. First, it looks great and the price is awesome but in Florida we have very tiny flying insects at night during the summer that we call "No See-Ums" How fine is the mesh on the doors and windows? Regular doesn't work it has to be very fine. Thank you for another great video. Respect from Florida USA 🌴

Hello Richard, thank you my friend! It's fun work, and I'm really happy with the outcome. I lost the footage from when I finished the wall, my memory card broke down and none seem to be able to repair it. So I'll peobably tare some of it down to rebuild it on camera again 🤣😅. About the tent, I don't know. I've used it twice after this trip and it kept normal mosquitoes out, but I can't promise that it will keep those buggers out. I'll try to look it up and get back to you. Do you know how fine it is usually is on a tent? Thank you for watching and have an awesome week, brother! 🙏🍺

When are your summers; waiting to see finished build, wonder how warm will be in winter and h ok w much wood it will take to get warm and stay warm and how long will it stay warm after fire goes out; will you build a fireplace inside building or will you use a hot tent stove instead
@TSMAdventures
@TSMAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
It's soon summer, this video was filmed in mid April. In the next video spring is here and in the video after that It's almost summer. 😁👍 I lost the footage of one trip due to a broken memory card so I'll have to take some of the wall down and rebuild it again on camera. But that will only be a small part of the top layer. I'll also start building the roof tomorrow. 🥳 I will use a wood stove during the summer and I've built a nice fireplace as well, and I'll be able to use both during the winter. The temperature is not that cold here, between -5C and -15C normally during winter time, but I agree, it will be interesting to see how it does. I might insulate it with some moss as well.

Great tent, but it looks a little bulky for backpacking. What does it weigh?
@TSMAdventures
@TSMAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
Yes indeed, it's a great tent. It might be, I don't usually use tents on trips like this, me and Emma use tents while traveling by car or by motorcycle and then the weight is not really an issue. The full weight is 3,2 kg and the trail weight is 2,5 kg. Is that heavy or not? 🤔😁
@BlackshacksBushcraft
@BlackshacksBushcraft 2 жыл бұрын
Adam Arrow Outdoors yes. An ultralight hiking tent, even a 2 person, averages about 1.5 to 2kgs. Usually, the more you pay, the lighter you get.

@@BlackshacksBushcraft okay roger that, well this is a pretty cheap tent but it seems to be good quality, I've used it 5 times now and I really enjoy it.
