Gosh, what a trip down memory lane!! The 70s florals that surrounded my childhood 🤣 When I was a teen in about 1979 those plaid skirts were such a trend, especially with a drop-turtleneck sweater and tall boots... I still like how it looks but they say you shouldn‘t wear trends twice so guess I am too old, now!! At the time it was a change from skinny jeans and Tshirts and plaid shirts, oh right, that look is „in“, too. Then your Edwardian ruffle blouse, 1981 and I had my hair cut short, so short I hated it and was glad of the ruffled neck on my blouse like to cover my neck lol. The check shirt dress is straight out of a 1985 fashion/wardrobe book I still have that featured capsule wardrobes, it‘s in the business section (not quite such a full skirt but otherwise so alike)! And finally the little lace top that seems to have been a bestseller throughout the 90s in one of the catalogues... Such an entertaing video for a middle-aged woman - incidentally, you look very pretty and comfortable in all of the outfits!!

I swear, reserved sometimes has the nicest vintagey clothes. I have two dresses from the that are very office appropriate and one of them is very much 50ies inspired. Both have pockets(!) And one even has a blind stitch hem, a detail I rarely ever see in stores these days. Also both have held up through quite some wear without warping the shape or anything.

I switched to only buying clothes from thrift shops. That way I take a little weight off of the environment and find much more variety in clothes. I live in a rural area with limited shopping and I find sizing so variable in the states that I was spending to much time and effort returning things that didn't fit. And it's depressing to get something in the mail and then not get to enjoy it!

admirathoria 00 she actually does sew, in her older videos she made a few dresses/tops🥰 I think they’re in her omnia poetry video
@SusanIvanova22575 жыл бұрын
As someone who does sew things I have to say though that it is time consuming. Especially when you are still learning the very basics. And if you are doing this out of the desire not to support sweat shops and the fast fashion industry you need to be just as mindful on where you purchase your fabrics. It is certainly a very useful skill (and if only to alter second hand clothes!) But likely only an option for a smaller percentage of people.

@@SusanIvanova2257 Yes, it is time consuming. It takes me a week to make a simple skirt because I do it at night before bedtime: cut one night, piece the next night, sew the next night, hem the next night, finish the next night. I sew some of my clothing bc it's a relaxing hobby & because I like my clothes made to my specifics.

Random story: So, I had never heard of the word "culotte" before and I watch this live stream from the channel "Kitten Academy". They just got a new mom cat with 3 infant kittens and they called them the "Tiny Pants" family. (Each new mom cat has a "surname". The last batch was called "The Wiggles".) And the Mom's name is Tailor, and her three kittens were "Culotte," "Knickerbocker", and "Blue Jean". I decided to look up the meaning of Culotte because I thought it was a french girl's name. And it turns out they're a type of pants! Then I happen to watch this video right after, and you have a culotte jumpsuit! Weird coincidence! XD
