Still like your projector idea over a bunch of hot FP displays. I wonder if you could use conventional laser ceiling mounted projectors and get the effect for a lot less energy, money, and reduce the build complexity to just the window frame and a faux wood ceiling beam just big enough to hide diminutive projectors. I know you can get 4k ones for under $1k but they might have issues I don't recognize. Or a single $2+k unit that would ''home theater" the whole wall! Add a digital frame overlay to put in the window frame, dump it for BIG screen tv?

Clever trick editing the video files. Another method that should work well is a PC with a dedicated graphics card, then configure AMD Eyefinity or NVIDIA Surround depending which gpu you go with. Hi Drew, this used to be my childhood dream idea in the basement and i can't believe you made it come true! I always imagine how this would change the real estate landscapes. Love to talk more in details if we can get this into production all around the world!

Just found your channel What’s impressive is not only your skill set to build this but also to produce a pro video of how you did it.

Hello sir I’m new to your channel. I saw the doggie house video first. I’m blown away by the quality of your content and skills. Subbed for life now lol. Awesome end result here. Also I was absolutely not expecting the black caulk joke. I almost spat out my coffee. Thanks for the hearty chuckles Lmao 😂🤣👌🏻

Absolutely superb job. Curtains or no curtains. Let’s just hope the TVs last the distance! Matching a replacement may be a problem.Colour difference Etc. But I suppose that can be adjusted to a close match. Great Job.

I was very much and admiration of your skills and technical abilities as well as your video production right up until the point where you stated that due to the process of this build out you are now a big black caulk guy. The problem I have is I think you misspelled caulk

It would have been cool to put artificial daylight lights down there, I've always wondered how realistic they would feel in a dark basement
@kevinwelsh74902 жыл бұрын
so Rod, go buy some lights and get yourself a basement...

They would be lights. Easy project. Box up some led strips behind a layer or two of diffuser panels, and have at it.

@@BloodyKnives66 there's carpentry and carpentry, anyone with those tools can do this easily after watching a KZbin video guide or using their common sense. Designing and making a beautiful complex chair would be less easy.

Recently, I've wanted to build a house, then bury it, creating a tornado-proof "underground" house on grade to avoid moisture problems and then use a giant TV, like yours, mounting one on each of 4 walls (N,S,E,W) with a camera outside pointing directly out, to create a real-time "window" inside. I'm still negotiating for the ranch land (North Texas). That's as far as I've gotten.
@DrewBuildsStuff2 жыл бұрын
That would be awesome! Sounds expensive though 😬

@@DrewBuildsStuff I'm 74, retired, been debt free longer than you've been breathing air and have nothing but time & money! I love your Chanel. We are a lot alike; I build stuff too. My "normal" building projects are steam engines and windmills. I also build solar tracking steam engine generators for free electricity on clear days.

The first 3 winners of the giveaway have been notified! Thanks everyone for playing! Winners are from Finland, California and Ontario! Also beware there's tons of scammers out there using a similar name and my profile photo saying you've won a prize or similar. I only have two social accounts, this one and my @drewbuildsstuff Instagram. Just an FYI. I wish KZbin would solve the problem already.

Use an Nvidia graphics card to be able to output to 3 monitors, but have them treated as one. There's even bezel correction (for the gap made by the frame). You would need any cheap Nvidia card with 3 display outputs (they typically have DisplayPort, HDMI, and DVI ports, all of which can run perfectly with a cheap little HDMI converter to be compatible with your setup
@amateurwizard2 жыл бұрын
You should use 'Nvidia Surround', you can make all 3 displays come up as 1 single display. It would take a lot of the hassle out of it as it's normally used by people doing multi-monitor gaming. This project is awesome by the way. Edit: This will also allow to you to adjust for the border size between each display making it ever so slightly more convincing as a spaceship window :D. Could also allow remote access on the windows box for the TVs so you don't have to go back there to change things.

I was wondering if you could replace most windows in a house like this. I’ve searched but couldn’t find anyone who did. I wonder if the energy saved from heat loss/gain would, over time, pay for the install and operating cost. It would be interesting if you could connect the tv wall to an exterior camera that would replace the scene of a real window. Hey I was typing this as I was watching and the end that’s exactly what you are about to do. Looking forward to the results. If it works out start a business offering a plug and play. I have a room that needs lighting up with a new window and don’t want to cut hole in the wall.

I will admit this is very cool, but one thing that would complete this is to put LEDs that match with the screen with some coding, that would add lighting to the room and make you feel immersed in the scene. That would be hard to do but I think if you did it, this video would blow up, as well as be even cooler
