If you are a good welder and don't get "undercut" then there in no reason not to weld across the top. Great fricken build by the way. Looks beautiful

I hear this all the time. I see how it makes sense, but when I was building it somehow I just felt better putting down a weld there. It's been 3 1/2 years and so far no cracking, and I have put this trailer to work let me tell you.

Anybody know where in So-Cal to buy steel and parts to manufacture a single car trailer. I’m asking because after multiple attempts with different places the farthest I’ve gone is to just gather up numbers but never build anything because after I buy all raw material and build it myself, I would only end up saving about 500. From what i understand is that manufacturers buy everything from China and pay penneys for parts and and pay minimum wage to assembly line workers that's how they make 💰

Shit man get your welding skills up a bit and get after it. I've seen the trailers these so called companies build. They are trash made with cheap c channel and angle iron. There are some nicely build trailers out there but they are pricey.

I learned this after many people commented on that. This was my first trailer build. The trailer has been in service for six years now and it has not yet cracked at those points. I've used the hell out of it. Maybe I got lucky.

Yep spot on. NEVER WELD ACROSS THE TOP. It greatly increases the risk of cracking right through. Don't weld across any top or bottom flange section like that.

Considering only a few of us can actually build a trailer, I respect you totally....BUT why on earth would you use tubing? Are you in a warm climate? In Canada, tubing rots from the inside out in no time...us pros use Channel.
@ALLMUSCLEUSA
@ALLMUSCLEUSA 6 жыл бұрын
Yes. That is a fact. Tubing will rust from inside out in colder climates. I live in the desert in California so not an issue at all here with tubing. I have owned trailers made from channel before without issue. The tubing is just nicer in my opinion.
