I'm getting to the point where seeing creative older truck builds excites me more than spotting a supercar. At least I know I can afford one and enjoy it more without worrying. Also, Wendy's Frosty rocks! Well, Wendy's is my go to if going fast...

Nice, careful build! One suggestion, based on my own experiences, Always chase the threads before the final cleaning, and blow out the holes with compressed air from the bottom, using a thin tube blow gun. In my experience, using what is known as a "spiral flute plug tap". The spiral flutes pulls the cuttings out, where a straight flute pushes them forward. Finally, run the taps in and out with an average size cordless drill. If the tap hits an obstruction, such as the bottom of the hole, the keyless chuck will slip on the tap, which is very hard steel.

I'm just impressed that you've taken on most of the tasks on your projects. Most folks are too scared to get that deep into something like what you've done. Hell, dude, I've done this stuff for over two decades, and there are many jobs I hate taking on particularly suspension. Hate that stuff! Keep up the excellent content, dude!

I have been watching this channel for many years and your videos have been inspiring and have made me start projects I would t have normally done. I am a high school student in Canada who is also going to university next year for mechanical Engineering. I am also a huge car guy although I am mostly into mopars. Your videos inspired me to restore a 68 340 dart and with some help from friends I did pretty much everything to the car including rebuilding the engine to changing the gears in the rear end. I just want to say I love your content and keep up the great work! The car community where you are seems to be a lot bigger than where I am from (Prince Edward Island) I am pretty much the only kid into the old stuff at my school. It is people like us that will keep these great vehicles on the road. Thanks for the great content!

For future reference you don’t need to put the rings on the piston when checking deck height, one less chance to scratch a cylinder or break a ring. Love your channel and your can-do attitude! Keep up the good attitude and you’ll go far.

Not telling you what to do but I wouldn't rev that engine past 6800. A girldled 2 bolt main is nice but you haven't really blueprinted the engine to the level necessary to spin an engine that high of RPMs.

Hey man, love your videos, just have a small suggestion about dealing with your main and rod bearings. (I've been doing full rebuilds on jet engines in the air force for about 5 years now.) I'd definitely just keep your super important bearings sitting in a covered pan of oil or just dipped in oil and wrapped and labled as a set in some butcher paper. The fibers and lint from a towel or non-lint-free cloth could potentially cause some pre-mature wear on bearings if any of it ends up getting in there on the final assembly. Potentially. And with gloves, don't be stingy with them, if you touch anything that isn't clean, or touch your face/hair, just throw a new set on before handling the bearings again. Love the videos man, keep up the good work!

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone comment this yet, but I would recommend plasti-gauging the crankshaft to make sure your headlong clearances are all good on the main caps. Not sure if you did this or not, but I’d recommend it if you have not! Also, another little tip. Don’t use a sanding disk (on a drill) on gasket surfaces. Runs the risk of creating low spots and rounding off edges which will lead to leaks. Use a sanding block! Another little “trick” or preference I should say. Some people do not use a gasket for the oil pump where it mated to the block surface. Reason being, is say that gasket goes bad. That sealing surface is below the oil line (meaning it’s under oil) so therefor you could risk losing oil pressure.

Those girdles are just another marketing strategy to waste your time and money there student engineering. Just like the famous water pump restriction plate that replaces your thermostat I'm not going to get started In thermals. The maine reason 302s will split is the bouncing of the main caps especially under detonation or rpm when you pull the mains off check the bottom of the main caps and block mounting surfaces for gulling or spots especially #2,3,4
@tinsano60302 жыл бұрын
Since you love throwing money away just to blow motors up, youd be better off just sticking junkyard motors in the truck since you're "poor college kid"
