Loved seeing the Northern Lights with the big dipper. I went to Kaktovik years ago to see polar bears, which I did in aces also watched the village bring in a whale and all that that involved, but another cool thing was getting up in the middle of the night and not only seeing the Northern lights like I'd never seen them before but being IN them. My body felt all tingly with a sort of snapping sound all around.. A rare wonderful experience.

Sean, you did a really great job with the power wall. I just got back from TX and brought up some new stuff for my solar system. I'm hoping to get that installed starting this coming weekend. I gotta tell ya... a real refrigerator makes all the difference in the world buddy!! You won't be sorry when you get it! When I bought mine, I had stopped at Lowe's in Anchorage on my way here in May. They had the refrigerator I bought on clearance for $300 off of regular price. Factoring in $100 in gas for me to drive up there with the trailer, get it and bring it back, I still came out $200 ahead of what I could have bought a comparable fridge for down here. I'm glad you're continuing your recovery!!

@@SeanInAlaska When I was stationed in Germany in the late 1990's, I used "Nature's Refrigerator" as a beer cooler. Snow would pile up on the little deck (2nd floor), so I'd just take my beers out there and shove them into piles of snow to keep them cold, and not take up a lot of refrigerator space... lol!! I used to get those little 1.5 gallon beer kegs and do the same with them. It was awesome. Now that have almost 3 decades on me since then, I think I prefer keeping them cold INSIDE so I don't have to venture out to get them... lol.

What the heck are you made of Sean… Rubber? You just bounced right back into it! You are a true Celtic warrior. But as steady as she goes (just like in the game of thrones) Winter is a coming, you need to get your game on. I see you’ve already celebrated the first day of fall… only kidding here Sean. But you’re on the right track. Now let there be light, so you can properly generate enough solar power (probs could generate it with the Northern lights, Lol!). Well, until the next time… Take care buddy!

Sean You have to love a little power ! You just about got it :) Hey I run a 18 cubic ft fridge mine ids a couple years old but it only uses 90w to run less than one might think, Cold beer all the time 👍, just remember your charge controller can only take so much power or you fry it, Mine is just a medium size & can only handle 1180w coming in, I've been slowly adding to my system over the last 10 years :) Watch the foxes or your egg count will go down lol, Take care heal well"

We have a 24v system and our inverter charger is only 3kw. I have never seen it go over 2k and we use a lot of power. that 2200watt one should work just fine for you unless you have more power draw than I think. We even have two 17cf freezers going. just do not try to run power tools like saw on it.
@SeanInAlaska3 ай бұрын
The saw will need the generator lol....too many amps to get it going hahahahahaa

Refrigeration is a big deal. We have an off road cabin for recreation and our limiting factor of fresh food was refrigeration. . We have about 5k of battery storage and it runs our fridge and freezer when we are gone. We have a 4K 48 V inverter. Our lights RV water pump and water heater are on a separate 12v system. We collect rainwater as we don’t have a well there. The nice thing about a 48v system is a lot less current is needed from the batteries. Batteries have internal resistance. I worked on batteries and inverters doing telecommunications.
@SeanInAlaska3 ай бұрын
48v is the way to go from everything I have read! I am looking at 600 amp hours to start with my system, but I am keeping the lights on 12 volt

Nice! Giandel makes a nice inverter. I'm still debating going 24v or 48v and upgrading to Victron .Pricey, but it needs to handle and water pump and fridge 99% of the time. Also has the option to direct out another output that I can run a washing machine on generator only and bypass the inverter. I'd like to go 48v but then I'd have to upgrade my existing Victron controller. Not sure yet. Might stay 24v. Lol. But I gotta make a decision.
@SeanInAlaska3 ай бұрын
24v is the only upgrade I would consider making myself. At least the pricing for 24v does not break the bank lol

Sean, you need to start again, no wires/cables should be over lapping other wires/cables, it should be tidy and safe, crossing them over each other can create magnetic fields within your wiring/cable routes and you do not want that to happen. Start again and make it tidy.
