I am a construction electrician retired who fell in love with concrete. I poured so many transformer pads & light pole bases. I waited on the concrete trucks many times. I rubbed pole bases in the light of my truck many nights. Now I do concrete work on my personal projects with 80 pound bags of the stuff. One bag will produce a 12 by 12 by 8-inch block. I use online concrete calculators then buy hundreds of bags of concrete. Watching you push the wheelbarrow is a task I can relate to. I am 66 years old, I love playing in the mud. Arthritis & a replaced shoulder join has slowed me down. A blown-out heel in my left foot hurts but I keep mixing the mud. Thanks for sharing the laborious task of pouring a footing the hard way.

One of the things that I think isn't appreciated *enough* is how hard you work to film all of this. It's like twice the effort sometimes, I'm sure. Your editing and cinematography skills have grown quite accomplished, too. It's why all of this works. Without it? It just wouldn't, at least, nowhere near to the extent that it does.

triple the travel time anyway ... setup the camera do his thing and then go back and pack up the camera for the next spot ... considering the other option is wifi all his work areas and then slap loads of "spy cams" up to catch everything he is doing ... the extra travel version is way more cost effective

@@0623kaboom The practical problem with spy-cams - some of which he may well use from time to time - is power, rain, snow, Ice, bugs, leaves, clean lenses. And did I mention power? Yeah it's a total pain in the ass, I'm sure. There are other cinematic/editorial conventions maintained, too. We don't see the road. Part of that is privacy/security; the other maintains the illusion of complete wilderness. We see the (often gorgeous) shots from the drone. We don't see the drone itself - at least, almost never. *Keep the tech out of the shot*. These are good editing rules. Hi Shawn, started to follow you recently. I'm lucky there are many videos by now to watch! And I'm always excited to see the new one. There is a lot of things to learn about living of land I know nothing about. Love watching your garden grow! It took you a lot of hard work, but those plants are really blessing you now with their fruit/harvest! I like that you share on how to preserve veggies, like sun drying them. I wish you all the best, keep going!

Shawn, your place is really looking good, the lake is filling, green is coming up around it. Watching you make the shop foundation. ..wow, I'm impressed, that's a lot of wheel barrows of hand mixed cement. The garden, the soil it's really coming along, obviously your vegetables are pretty happy with your green thumb. Thank you for the photography from the air and seeing Cali so happy. ..her lake is filling.

Shawn, Yes! I've been with you there, but only about 10'. Digging footings for a stone wall, shuttering up and hand mixing the concrete in a big bucket with a trowel. Collecting stones from the neighbourhood and building a wall. Reality check... stones are heavy and you can never lift the ones you want! I surveyed the rock pile, made my choices.... and then reconsidered 😁. The new environment you are creating will be wonderful. Regards Stephen.

You have come so far doing this all on your own. I have yet to see any of your visions come to fruition. Do you have anyone to help you with processing all of the vegetables and fruits, etc. from the garden? Boy, all the labor you put into creating your forest garden is now very abundant and it is just beginning. Give pup a kiss on the head for me. God's blessings to you and your family.

Thank your for this week's films. You make it look deceptively simple to build the footings for the workshop/cabin , Shawn. I look forward to seeing it advance. Such beautiful crops too.

I love watching all the progress you are making Sean, and I share your video's on Facebook and Twitter for all to enjoy as I do. Hope you get more subscribers that way. :) Your work is amazing but in my opinion you are working way to hard at it! What more can be said? Strong body Strong mind. Take care!

Yep! Thats called carving a little home out of the wilderness! Slowly but surely it's becoming your dream you had envisioned. With a few changes along the way. Miss seeing your Misses around. Looks pretty Lonely.
