I'm having a lot of fun filming & editing this series. It's such a special build & a real honour to be able to showcase it to the world! There are some absolute wizards on board too & it's a pleasure to learn about certain parts of the process.

This build is my favourite. In the '80s there were PLENTY of protorypes built, used and demolished and only a few pictures are available about them. I'm an engineer, I've already designed motorcycles, this is for me one of the absolutely perfect projects. Designing the balance, calculating the parts' places in the vehicle, finding out where and what to build in. This is pure gold. But I just recognized that the front fenders (or wings) are somewhat different from the original ones on the pictures, the wheel arches were slightly bigger. Can't wait for the final version of the vehicle. Absolutely stunning!

I cannot tell you how impressed I am with the design and build of this extraordinary Quattro - my congratulations to all involved - just incredible effort and engineering brilliance.

Ever since I found out they made that car, I thought it was a shame nobody tried to build one. This build will be in a class of its own and I can't wait to follow along with the progress!! Just looking at the mockup of it I can't imagine how much of a monster this is going to be.

It’s great to see people using old engineering… unfortunately there’s not many old fashioned engineers left 😢 keep up the good work 👍

Great job guys, so looking forward to the next installment, Dave your magic at mapping engines, but, your face when he was talking about camber, caster and roll centres was great, it was just going over your head 😂

This is the ultimate project. One that I would love to do myself if I ever get the budget. I build projects myself (albeit a much tighter budget) andI have put the old aan 5 cylinder turbo into a space frame, mid engine transaxle, 700 kg total weight. Engine has been rebuilt, forged internals, cat camshafts with solid lifters, custom intake and exhaust manifold built myself. I bought tig welder , lathe and milling machine which helps do these projects. I have also built a space frame to house a Subaru turbo RA using shortened version of the 4wd transmission. This has a total weight of 850kg This project of yours is a whole new level, I completely admire what you are doing and what you have done already with pikes peak Audi. have done. I will be watching this new adventure of yours every step of the way as this is my dream build some day.

Why did Audi mount it longitudinally like the RS and S1, instead of transversely like the T16 which seemed to be the better all rounder?

Well you could always try and write to gumpert and find out, also arguably AUDI did NOTHING on that car, the engineers did this against the will of AUDI

Awesome...would have running RHD been easier for engine and transition layout??
@EPSDaveRowe Жыл бұрын
No as its about the same to make the car LHD or RHD but the way the cars prop shaft's are its better to take up space on the RH side with these. Also all the works Audi's where LHD and I love driving that side also..

Am I being stupid or would it not be preferable to have the drive mirrored left to right as in the engine and gearbox being opposite side to driver and the drive line goin down the length neer to the driver obviously the both pretty central but relative to each other or was it a case of where the input/ output shafts Wer on gearbox/ transfer box ,would simply spinning the gear box make it running backwards, I kno the question is very long and probably worded quite retardedly thank for a great project this is stands alone in a casem of rinse and repeat car builds on utube
