Building BEST DUGOUT - The construction of the house underground continues and is almost completed
LAYING WALLS OF THICK LOGS - The walls are made of thick logs, which means it will be very warm in winter
LAYING THE FLOOR - The floor is made of business wood. It should be light so that it is light inside

I give you guys a lot of credit! The size logs you used in your structure. And I haven’t seen anyone else make a solid floor like you either. I would feel very safe in your place. And you treated your logs to keep from molding/rotting. I can’t even imagine digging through that heavy wet soil either. You did such hard work! What a difference it makes to have 2 people working together! I’m happy for you. PS your food looks delicious 🌹

It is nice to make the dugout strong, but first, before making the wall with logs, waterproof vinyl should have been installed on the whole wall to prevent flooding in the rain...🤔

Hello guys and thank you for sharing your building of your dugout with us. It is a different way of building than I have seen before. Do you worry about the floor flooding during heavy rains or in the spring when the snow melts?

I worry as well about this. They didn’t install any sort of drainage system and I worry that beautiful floor will be under water in the rainy months ahead.

In the other video I watched after your place was done, I wondered why you didn’t put logs or rocks on top of the exposed dirt on your beautiful steps to keep from walking the wet dirt onto your floor inside. Maybe your thinking about it yet? Your place is so awesome!🌹🤗
@chrisdooley6468
@chrisdooley6468 2 жыл бұрын
I’m also very concerned about the lack of any drainage system under their beautiful floor. In the upcoming rainy weather and as the ground melts I’d hate to see that floor under water 🤦‍♂️ I know it’s going to be considerable work but taking the floor back up and install a sand and gravel layer and try to address the drainage issues. I have seen two other channels do drainage systems for their projects but I’m not sure how they’d be able to retrofit it at this stage

why do none of these dugout videos deal with drainage? I bet after a decent rain they have a log swimmingpool! especially with all the clay they packed in behind yhe walls! once that swells those walls will cave!

Curious… How do dugouts handle the rain? What keeps them from filling up with rain water or ground seep?
@readhistory2023
@readhistory2023 2 жыл бұрын
For light to moderate rainfall make the edge of the top plastic sheet act as a french drain around it to guide the water down hill of the dugout. Heavy rains could flood it if you don't put in a sump. It's similar to building a basement, but ultra-cheap.
@trudidolder6122

Oh, that is not good, putting the wood right on the dirt. thong and groove flooring should always be installed on a subfloor. . Gravel, or thick plastic would keep soooo much humidity out of your building….

You guys crack me up. Do you not recognize you are working in a mud hole based with clay? What's going to happen when the spring rains come? Do you have a marine bilge pump powered by a solar array, somehow heated so water in the dugout will not freeze and can be pumped out? Just sayin'. Jeesh.

Gee, why can't I be sold on the idea of "best hole in the ground"? Are all of these people nuts? BTW, who owns the land where all these nuts cut down the trees, bury themselves in holes in the ground, shit in the woods and pretend some rancid bacon and boiled potatoes are haute cuisine? This guy's cooking is no prize either. Who eats with two knives?
