Toward the end of my set, I begin to shrug the weights up a bit. What can I do the maintain proper form?

Typically 2 things - 1) the weight may be too heavy for how many reps you're trying to do, and 2) you're probably thinking about reaching up, not out. Take the weight down a touch and try to touch the walls with your dumbbells to see if that changes it
