I now embark on building/converting my eBike v1 to v2. Version 2 sees me upgrade to a 36v 500w Front hub and a 36v 20AH battery both bought through AliExpress - enjoy

Peter Harington - absolutely! I think I will be going for a rear hub though next time with a little more power - the hills can still hurt and the front wheel can slip going up as it's difficult to get traction with lower weight on the front

I’ve just bought an ebike for the Mrs to try, an elife infusion £500 ish cheapest, one that has the battery plugged in on a pannier on the the rear. It has a front wheel £24V 250W motor. She’s got to test it out but hopefully it’ll be okay. But your video makes me think of modifying my hybrid bike that has 28 inch wheels. Think I’ll have a look on aliexpress. Definitely would go for a 36V 250W motor if I end up doing and maybe mount the battery on the bottle fixings. Fitting a front motor seems less hassle than a rear one. I’m retired electronics engineer so working out the electrical side of things should be okay. Great video.👍

If you run the 250 watt motor on a 48 volt battery and modify the shunt on the motor controller it can give some serious power

John.. Honestly yes.. but about the same effort as a switch but at a third of the cost including the battery. The same bike in Halfords with a crappy battery (10AH unlike my 20Ah) was still £800

This looks kind of dangerous i was reading horror strories of people who did this and had the forks snap did you take into consideration of that and how can you be sure its safe? I would have gotten a mid drive kit tbh or a rear. I was going to get a front drive to compliment my rear drive bike, but I don't want to die or have my wheel fall off while riding. Its kind of an irrational fear but kind of not because those forks just look really flemsy and plus you are turning it and putting force on it seems like a recipe for disaster.

I have a 1000 watt front hub on the way.I already have a 750 on my ebike but want AWD. Should be able to cruise at 40 MPH-I have a sepearte battery for the 1000 also--a 48 v 20 ah--the 750 bafang has a 48 v 14 ah--oh yeah baby.
@bangcrashtinkle67183 жыл бұрын
Flaniganskywalker - that sounds awesome! What are your thoughts on matching the rotational speed of the two drives on the AWD system?
@khronin3 жыл бұрын
@@bangcrashtinkle6718 I already did this to my bike.I did not match speeds since the 1000 watt hub has only a controller so it is ungoverned and has its max power available all the time while the 750 that came with the retail bike is limited to 22 mph.I wantred mine for hills and trails and not speed--but the 1000 by itself can do almost 34 mph on a flat and by itself can do over 22 mph up medium to steep hills--so I am good.

@@BFBMTb I want to do the same - most youtubers doing this are showing how to use an ebike but they mostly ride to work, stop and charge for 7 hours and then go home. Hi Mark Smith - seller for the battery was Litokala and was around a month. Front hub was CSC Official Store also on Ali Express and took about 2 months with a $30 surcharge for DPD delivery. Don't forget to include a torque arm (about $10). You need to tell them the size of wheel, if it's front or rear hub, voltage, watts and what type of display you want. You can see all choices when you are on their Ali Express page. Good luck

52v 20ah is a better battery 🔋 they charge upto 59v ,higher speed, I've had plenty of good 36v batterys so it all depends how fast you want to go on a unrestricted Ebike, if you're going all Legal at 15mph then 36v is good enough, its the controller and the AMPS you need for Torque
