Making your own is the best decision, we did our home in over 20 years ago and we still get complements, the blocks are still solid, none have broken or pitted either, I can't remember how much we paid for the machine but we purchased it outright. We also have a large compound which slops and until recently we had water deliveries a few times a year and where the water truck passes and parks to offload is still intact with no signs of damage or where the truck passes. Great Vlog and great advice if you can wait a bit you will save in the future. Even grass will cost you money to grow and cut

I will also add that as you enter your consultancy business, avoid the temptation of exaggerating prices as many others do. Go low and price your competitors out. Believe me, you would get more offers and become more successful at it than all the others. Just my .02 cent.

I think I'll make them too unless I find a partnership. But I wanted to say, I'm always jealous of your heat in Ghana. I'm building in South Africa and sharing my journey too. But it is so much colder in South Africa. I was looking forward to the heat after 23 years of being in the USA but it was colder than in the US and there was never unbearable heat and my house was actually cold. You guys are almost there, so encouraging. Keep going.

Good day AsherGad. I just watched your video. Some inputs here. We need to understand the different parameters. I am a Civil Engineer with over 17years working experience. The strength of every block is dependent on its density. Quality pavement blocks are characterized by their high densities, non-porous and abrasion-free surfaces. The onsite production technic, shown in your video will never be able to meet the characteristics of good quality pavement blocks in terms of density, non-porous and abrasion free surfaces. Of course you get your blocks at a relatively low cost during installation compared to the mechanically/factory moulded ones, but they become nuisance, irretating and expensive when they are subjected to everyday use and at the mercy of the weather. These kinds of pavement blocks usually gets broken into halves and pieces during use, especially where vehicular loading is applied and this is because of the insufficient densities. They also soak up water resulting in black coloration and green algae formation. Another point to note is the dump proof sheet that is normally laid before spreading quarry dust to receive the pavement blocks. Technically, pavement blocks act as porous floors to allow for surface water to sip into the ground. This helps to recharge ground water table, reduce flooding and so on. By applying a dump proof layer, this purpose is defeated and so I don't think it's necessary. In conclusion, I would like to urge you to consider all parameters of construction costing before you arrive at which is expensive or acceptable.

I was hoping you would say something about the "quality" you will achieve producing the blocks yourself? producing these blocks in a controlled factory environment will most like result in a much higher quality output in terms of for example "durability" and "consistency" of the products. I understand the upfront cost of the factory produced blocks is prohibitive but it might actually workout to be a whole lot cheaper in the long term. Having said that, if you are able to replicate the factory conditions in relation to quality control (batching of materials, compaction, curing etc) then the resulting product could be similar in quality to the factory produced ones.
@kingstal902 жыл бұрын
Thanks This is a very good point And that’s where my time rather than my money will go to. Inspections Ensuring the curing is done correctly, etc Although I’m not the same as a factory, I will do my best I am using a known person who’s work I have witnessed as well Your point is definitely a factor to be considered Bless

Is the price of cement double counted in both of your Quote analysis. Why will you need another 320 cement bags if the blocks are already made. Trying to do the calculation of my project as I am about to hit that milestone. Thanks for the great work by the way.
@kingstal902 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right! My oversight So if you buy - you don’t need to add the cement, colour or quarry dust. 86,220-5,200-19,560-1200 = 60,260GHs (Blocks + DPM + LABOUR) Making on site still a considerable saving
@WalIbru2 жыл бұрын
Great video. Just wondering why you added the costs of cement, coloring, labor etc to the cost of the already made pavement blocks? What will you need the bag of cements, coloring, labor etc for, when the pavement blocks are bought already made? Or is it that the cement, labor etc is for the installation of the pavement blocks?
@kingstal902 жыл бұрын
Answer in comments below An error The actual cost of purchasing and installation will be 60,260Ghs Just the blocks+ DPM+ labour Cement and colour already in the purchased blocks
@kingstal902 жыл бұрын
I’ve corrected this in the next video Tune in on Tuesday @ 6pm GMT

Thanks for your reply. So the 34,446gh also includes installation, right? Wasn’t clear in the video. Maybe you can also clarify that in the next video. It only says “Make Blocks On Site = 34,446gh”. But from your reply, it seems installation is included?
@kingstal902 жыл бұрын
@@WalIbru Labour included. I said that in the video. On screen text is only a note of the total. Watch again, all the numbers were stated. Add them up and you come to 34,446GHs. Also corrected in next video. Thanks for your comment.

Is there a porous fabric weed block to use instead of damped proof membrane? There is this fabric weed block fabric use for gardening. The issue with damped proof membrane over the large area is it contributions to flooding. Also, the soil underneath will be too dry over time and that can cause issues with your foundation.
@kingstal902 жыл бұрын
Flooding? We have sloped the land with a gradient towards our drainage outlets
@l.e.sparklesfkaelliesparkl58752 жыл бұрын
I’m aware of the landscaping fabric as well. A good one should give a good 7 years without weeds - while allowing for drainage
@kingstal902 жыл бұрын
But weeds will come through the holes won’t they?
@l.e.sparklesfkaelliesparkl58752 жыл бұрын
@@kingstal90 I don’t recall weeds coming through personally till it got super tattered (didn’t purchase well to begin with). The replacement worked much better. I had landscaping rocks spread over it no issues. Thinking since you have quarry dust as a base layer it may actually be more difficult for weeds to sprout -
@proyouservicesltd36522 жыл бұрын
@@kingstal90 Maybe you can use fabric up to 5ft from your foundation out. I imagine weeds would still struggle to grow under the fabric because the fabric reduces sunlight as well giving physical barrier for the weed especially if you use the right fabric.

Man, how do you justify an E-book of $99? It is digital and you sell the same digital copy to all without investing in any other resources to create new ones. Why do Ghanaians love exaggerating prices like that? With things like this your focus should be on selling in volumes. Believe me, if you price things like that at say $15, you would get a huge volume of purchases, even from people who might not ultimately need it. You would end up with more revenues. The current pricing will put many people, including me, off and only a few might buy. This is simple Business 101 that unfortunately many Ghanaians lack. Ghanaians generally tend to target quick big bang and therefore often miss opportunities. That is a shame.
