This video shows the installation of a Mr. Cool 12K mini split heat pump system in an office. The installers discuss positioning the indoor and outdoor units, drilling holes for refrigerant lines, and mounting the units. Some challenges arise like difficult access for connections and extra lineset coils. After lunch, they address these issues and continue the installation by connecting wires and refrigerant lines between the units. Safety checks and insulation of lines is also done. The last steps involve installing a control unit and finishing the vanity. The installers explain they are new to mini splits but worked through difficulties. In the end, the system provides cooling and heating and the installers are pleased with the finished office space.

I think they regularly show us that they are human! Owning up to any mistakes, talking about learning new things, and having to re-do things here and there. But this one? Especially so. I thought, much like you I bet, "oh, that's how this project would have gone for me!" Expect I would have had to take my dog to the vet I'm sure! lol :)

The reason you lay the lines flat is to avoid oil traps. Also, I put the lines thru the wall in the left side. That way you can take down the unit later for serviceability. All in all not a bad install. FYI, that’s a one day job for 1 guy.

Pro tip: if you want to find out where your hole will emerge on the outside wall, use a long 1/8"drill for a pilot hole from the inside. If it doesn't come out in the correct location, you can drill again and easily patch the small holes each side. Then just follow the small pilot hole with the larger hole drill.

Erik that style of split system are the standard unit in Australia. Quick tips. Always run the unit on fan after you have had it on cool as it helps dry it out and prevent condensation building up when turned off. Keep your filters clean as it helps with air flow. Every two years get the inside unit professionally cleaned or buy a Amazon cleaning kit and do it yourself to remove all the fine dust that will build up no matter how clean you room is.

My son and I installed a Mr. Cool in my garage in Florida. It was a very easy install and the unit is incredibly quiet. You can hardly tell when it’s running. I was impressed with how quickly it cooled the space and it usually took only five minutes or so to get the garage to temp. It made working in the garage during the summers a real pleasure.

Put a *Mr.Cool* in my garage 2 years ago. one of my best decisions, ever. *PLEASE NOTE* when you place the remote in the wall caddy, the caddy has a tendency to remove the battery cover. I put the remote in the caddy upside-down. My coils are vertical, and it works fine.

This is not disclosed by any installers or users. In reality these need deep cleaning annually. To the point of fan removal and cleaning. Blow out the drain line sludge build up, and wash out the coil. If you live in an area where mud dobbers make nest, they will make nest in the drain line. Cover the end of that drain line with screen wire.

Hello kelly from canada here. In automotive we would run into the same occurance trying to tighten a fastener obstructed by vehicle design. The solution was to use a "crowfoot" socket with extension than connected to a ratchet handle. They make them in a regular open ended design and compression line design. And of coarse I never miss an episode. Thanks a bunch. Say hi to Jamie for me!!

You could definitely install these after everything is finished, that's true, but if you install the line-set during construction you can achieve better results. I know you are not really care about air-sealing, but now you got a big hole on your ZIP panels behind the siding that is not protected. During construction you could have put the line-set inside the wall, so it goes into the wall at the top, and comes out on the outside behind the outdoor unit, which looks better. You can also make sure, that it does not comes out between two siding boards, or even install a block for it like you would for outlets, lamps, etc. Or even better, use an Airex Titan Outlet.

All our homes in Queensland Australia use these Reverse Cycle Minin split A/C units. They work brilliantly in our sub tropical humid heat and warm well for the few days it gets cool on winter. To be honest ive never used one for the heat but I'm in a new rental this winter so may have to. Rarely hits 0°C here tho. It's 5th June now and 5-6°C is for low , days still high 21-26°C.

I got my MrCool back in 2019. The installation instructions were for the wrong machine, the mounting template was for the wrong machine, the tape to wrap the feed lines wasn't sticky. I had a friend with a vacuum device help me because this was not a DIY Mini split. But amazingly, it worked until last fall when the "Step Motor" began to 'cry'. This is the motor inside the Head that drives the squirrel cage fan. It took a while to find a replacement step motor. The replacement cost less than fifty bucks. I watched a video on how to replace that step motor. There are hidden screws that are inaccessible. But not too much blood was spilled getting the old motor out and the new motor in, but the new motor doesn't cry. If you are wondering what the crying sounds like, it is not crying.

In the middle, at the bottom, you will see a small square cap. There is a hidden screw underneath it. You need to know this if you ever need to take the cowling off. The blades of the inside fan are blue, but within a year they will be black. Just wait till you try to wash the blades!

I would have mounted the inside unit closer to the 3 exterior windows (where Eric wants a TV). The reason is that the windows are where most of the heat gain / loss occurs, so you want the conditioned air blowing into that space. Otherwise, it will be cold in the winter, hot in the summer. Would have also made the lineset installation much easier. Just my 2 cents...

Oh my god the concrete anchors! 1. Have the nuts slightly low when hammering in - if you're pounding on the nut, you are jamming it into the threads and messing it up. That's why you can't get it back off and you end up spinning the anchor when you try to tighten it. 2. Tighten the anchor and make sure it's seated BEFORE you install whatever the anchor is for- ESPECIALLY if there's a cushion.

I have a covered back patio that I would like to inclose and turn it into either a sunroom or a indoor exercise room. The interior walls would measure roughly 15 x 18 feet or 270 sq/ft which equates out to 5,400 needed BTU's. Since the roof over the porch is pitched I think the 12,000 BTU unit would cool/heat the area I want to close in.

I'm 8 minutes in and wanted to add why that tape doesn't have adhesive on it. They (whomever they are) have figured out that some A/C line insulation can actually degrade the copper. Some of it is caused by the adhesive. Some is from the sun. Most of the mini splits come with that non adhesive tape now. The other really odd thing is they have found corrosion down or upstream from where the insulation is. In other words it wasn't right there but somehow it migrated but still caused by the insulation. I have a Mr.Cool in one of my garages and it's been amazing.
