Pro tip: when measuring something out of reach on the ceiling, hold both ends of the tape in your hands and compress the middle of the tape against what you want measured at an even foot mark and you can get your measurement-works for smaller lengths anyway

So I used some Lexel today for the first time. I used it to seal off an all metal exhaust vent that I screwed to siding on the house. It smells like contact cement. I didn't let it dry on my fingers too long but spray some brake cleaner on your fingers and take a rag it wipes right off. I like the stuff, you got me hooked.

I used to work at a building supply store. One day the bosses had us to organize the insulation that was stored in a very hot warehouse. When we got through and before leaving for the day the boss told us to go home and take a cold shower and the itching would stop. So I did that and instantly to itching stopped. Try it as it will work.

At the 18:30 mark, that's called "tub boxing" since the boot of the tub will sit below the concrete it creates the space needed to connect your tee fitting to the boot and then overflow drain.

I think that orange foam is exactly the same as the regular foam, except it is orange. Neither one stops fire. They only seal air so that can slow the fire down.
@stevect
@stevect 28 күн бұрын
Great stuff in no way carries a fire rating, (false statement, false advertising) absolutely the wrong stuff to use if fire rated penetrations are your goal. I make people take it out all the time and put the right stuff which for example Hilti fire rated caulk is. There are other brands as well. When I see orange spray foam it makes me angry, you got duped.

Self leveling underlayment should t be installed on green concrete unless a moisture vapor barrier was installed over the green. Also, using an SLU that can handle 100% RH would be recommended here.

hey boys. in norway we have insulation also after that we have plastic as a vapor barrier this is a building requirement here in norway. but according to new rules, 6 inches must be insulated, then you must put on a vapor barrier, then you must block 2 inches, then insulate 2 inches, if you have plaster or boards. and here it is normal for the carpenter to do all the insulation and plaster but the painter comes and fills cracks and paints

When doing insulation you shouldn't cover the face of the stud with the insulation tabs. Staple the tabs to the sides of the studs leaving the face of the stud exposed that way the drywallers will have something to glue too. Plus it's easier for them to get their measurements.

Note to self watch whole video before asking stupid questions in the comment section 😅What did you use as the blade for that customized insulation cutter? It kinda looked like a long scraper blade but I couldn’t make it out in the video. Seriously I would really appreciate a reply. I really really want to make one of those. I always use a 2x4 or my 2’ level to compress and then slice with my utility knife. However that MacGiver contraption Jamie made is a must build for me and I need one.
