Another aspect of overcoming the power and influence of secret combinations is found in D&C section 123 where we are told it is an “imperative duty” we owe to many including the rising generation as well as a prerequisite to calling forth God’s power in our defense against evil, that we “ waste and wear out our lives in bringing to light all the hidden powers of darkness wherein we know them.” Secret combinations and conspiracies cannot thrive in society when they are exposed by the light of truth.

As you spoke of the unprecedented attack on Zarahemla, I thought to myself, “What am I doing today to prepare for Satan’s attacks? Especially those I don’t expect?” I’ve seen major fallout from just those attacks on areas of my life that I would never have anticipated, precisely because I thought I was safe. I didn’t take those attacks seriously at the time and it cost me dearly, and could have destroyed more had I not woken up and put on my armor. I’m so grateful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ that helped me change my heart and repair my mistakes.

Many years ago we were on our way to a wedding. On the way I got the message that we would be making the wedding cake. Someone else was doing it so we were not concerned but when I got the message I told my husband. Immediately we began discussing and designing. When we arrived the day before the wedding I found out that the person making the cake had pulled out. I told her that it was taken care off and went to the store immediately. There was a beautiful cake for the wedding the next day.

Wonderful book I love each book, each one teaches us so many lessons and today we see things every day just like in these books. If you don't, look and listen more to those in your church, What these members are living through. Long insurance and short term things that come across our path. I try to keep emergency care medical packages for different members that have own vehicles. Food in boxes even though I am living with my family members who don't believe in my faith I continue with studying and prayers 🙏 12:04

The Rock of Our Redeemer” is a phrase from the Book of Mormon, Helaman 5:12, which states that people who build their lives on Jesus Christ, the Son of God, will have the strength to resist evil and stay faithful. The prophet Helaman compares Satan's attacks to a storm with hail and powerful winds, and says that people who build their foundation on Christ will be able to withstand these attacks without being dragged down into misery. Helaman promises that people cannot fall if they build their foundation on Christ, no matter what Satan throws at them. Some say that people can strengthen their foundation by making and keeping covenants, which can give them faith and hope in Christ. Others suggest that people can recognize Christ as "the rock of our Redeemer" and seek his enduring love

I don't think Nephi lost the election. Verse four says he yielded up the judgment seat because he was tired of the people's iniquity and wanted to go and preach the gospel (just like his great-grandpa Alma did ...Alma 4:15-20), or verse one says he delivered it up (gave it to) to Cezoram...An over-due concern, and as a spiritual leader can only move under divine promptings to align himself with the principles of God to find the ONE...The value of souls is great in the sight of God as there is now spiritual sickness all over the land. But, I love your perspectives and insights and am still following 💯

Read through the chapter heading of Ether Chapter 8. Also study Ether 8:18-26. Read the talk “I Testify” by Ezra Taft Benson. These share vital info about secret combinations.

I’m Mexican and every time we talk about secret combinations, to my mind comes things like drug lords, witch craft, etc. That way haven’t changed, my sister she isn’t a member of the church so she can tell me a bunch of things. One day she cami to visit from Mexico I live in Logan Utah. We went to Bear Lake and my cousin and I had a little accident in the lake, after a couple hrs. I heard my sister yelling my name so I was like “ I’m right here “ she told me your body is here but your soul is in the water. I told her my body and my soul are together because I’m still alive.

in relation to the Gadianton robbers or secret combinations (today we would call them terrorists), you mention that we do not have to fear them etc.. On the other hand it needs to be mentioned that such terrorists etc. were at the end eradicated by physical force. Nephite and Lamanite combined armies destroyed those secrect combination physically. See 3. Ne. chapter 4 and other places.

@31:50 asked if 2 nephi 9:9 is describing the same as how the mission of nephi is described in obtaining the plates from Laban, with exactness. Nephi claims to be lead by the spirit knowing not what to do, and yet we know several hefty, core doctrinal scriptures which testify how the spirit is affixed to the principle of providing light, knowledge, clarity, and intelligence. Thus a spirit leading with a stupor of thought is suspect of being one not of God but disguised as an angel of light. And thus we see that a secret combination was first mentioned in the book of mormon in 1 nephi.

I am lost, I looked up the nephites & it says this - member of a people descended from Nephi, a son of the Jewish prophet Lehi who led a colony from Jerusalem to America about 600 b.c. organized as a church by the risen Christ, and exterminated by the Lamanites leaving the scriptures recorded in the Book of Mormon. Question, How could someone organise a church for the risen Christ when he went to America 600yrs before Christ was born?

I think that there is a missing comma. Lehi left in 600 BC, the Nephites formed a church in anticipation of Christ's Coming, and then, in about the year 34 AD, after his resurrection, Jesus Christ came and established his church among them.
