In today's Scrap Mechanic Survival it's time for some Base Building! I'll be making a double ramp that uses Pistons! This will be the entrance to my base where I can store my vehicle!

The ramp looks amazing, but i think u could add like a piston on the botton of the car that would hid a colored block behind, so when u are on the top u can just hop on into the car, press a button and get down like that. Just a tip, hope it helps.

You need a folding block to hold you vehicle and conveyor on the side of the ramp so you can secure you vehicle so if a big red guy chase you,you can shoot the switch move up easier

An easier way to fix the ramp-catching problem would be to simply connect the ramps in the middle with a row or two of blocks. (Like a lift in a real auto shop)

Alright, that is really cool Moonbo. Had a thought on the engineering of it though, to keep you from getting that cross. Instead of a hinge on each end of each piston, it might work better to do a single hinge attached to a 3 block span with the pistons attached at each end of said span. It will allow them to rotate freely like yours do, but keep them one block apart for the lift... or if you needed more power a third set of pistons for a heavier vehicle. I am definitely gonna try something like this on my base though, absolutely epic idea!

@Moonbo: I have a suggestion to your “twistin pistins”... Use only ONE bearing on top and bottom, but make it like so for both top and bottom: ⬇️⏹⏹⏺⏹⏹⬇️ Where ⬇️ is a block with a piston attached ⏹ is just a block ⏺ is a bearing with a block This way the “bars” are parallel but move with the pistons and both piston groups are the same length. I hope the visual explains it better than my rambling 🤪🤓

23:21 If you removed the very top ramp piece, the ramp would still reach the same height, but when raised, the ramps would be level with the surface of the upper level. However, it would hang down a lot more too. To solve that, you could use the shorter ramp pieces. It would require a LOT more pieces, but your ramp would be much thinner.

Also, if you want the pistons to move slower, but still remain very firm, you could try using the controller stages to extend the pistons only a couple blocks at a time. This should let you leave it on max "speed", but instead of finishing the full movement in one step, it will take up to 10 times as long.

You gave me an actual idea, perhaps you'd like it as well. The idea is planely simple you make some fork system that picks up cars from stacked storages, in each storage you can save a car. short story short, you press a button, the fork will go to the level which is connected to the button, slides the fork under it, lifts it, pulls it back, and brings it to the ground.

You should add a parking behind it and use a sensor on setting switch, so that you hug the front of the ramp (put walls of course) and it goes up, you can put the sensor on color and set to cyan if you believe that helps

If you use a sensor (set to like 5)behind the ramps, you can just drive up and then the ramps would raise, and to get down you would just have to start driving forward and the ramps would drop for you to drive away, there may be a tick delay, but you would get used to it. And you could still have a switch on the bottom if you needed to get your car from the ground. Even a color sensor so your character doesn't trigger it.

Correct, but you wouldn't need a second controller they can be added to the same one as the pistons.

I think because SM has a weight mechanic the fast or slow Settings in the Controller are mor like torgue meaning the power wich the Pistons or bearings put out to move an object. that might the reason why they hve only this Option and it is most likely too complicated to Change something arround.

A suggestion; put a senor with a 1 or 2 block range lined up at the backstop of your back wheel. Use that senor to control the ramp. That way when you back up the ramp, it raises the ramp when your in place. When it comes time to leave, just move forward a little bit and the ramp will descend.

This feels like you need a sensor at the top to raise the ramp. Get to the top, ramp goes up. When you leave just drive away and the ramp is lowered.

Moonbo you should get a few pumps and put them over oil spouts and make a gas station for boats just pus gas on a craft bot on loop

May as well link ramps to each other since they're working as one anyway and this way there will be less sway to the sides. And for those "guide wall" pieces can use some lower friction blocks, less jittery moves then, like those wire mesh blocks.

I thought of something interesting that if you wanted you could do. The idea is that when you're on the 2nd floor you could make the ramp extend up pass the level of the 2nd floor and then use that as like a 3rd floor ramp. So it would be like this \ towards the ground when getting to 2nd floor, then raise so high that's its facing this a way / so it could lead you to the 3rd floor, if you make one. IDK its a weird idea, but if you like it then id be cool to see.

You don't need controller to connect pistons. You can use button. (If you will use button, pistons will be much stronger.
