usually the round weight is on the same side as the arm, that's because the oil pump actually pumps the oil on the upward motion, which uses the weight to pull, that reduces the strain on the motor.

Great video and fantastic looking pump! Couple of notes: level 5 craftbot gives you a faster craft time, not a loop. The loop is from actually having pipes/chests/etc connecting the craftbot output back to the input. Also you should be able to get pipes and such to connect the pumps and chests directly into your craftbot, at an expense of two fewer pumps!

Ur wrong. You just need any chest at the input and any chest at the output. You dont have to connect them together

Oldpost, but this is called a pumpjack. You don't need to worry about that much downward motion and there's dozens of pumpjack designs including a flywheel on its side connected by a web of rods to surrounding pumps. It' essentially the same as those old water pumps that you used to see on farms where you had to pump until it started drawing water. The idea is that there's a drawing motion where it's pulling out of the ground.

You should make an oil rig base and a helicopter or boat in the middle of the water.. like so he can see this, such a good idea right? Edit: make the rig a boat so it can move from spot to spot and grab the oil from all the wells! And deck it out too!

That oil pumpjack looks very nice. Also, to get the continuous loop feature on your craft bot it needs to have a chest connected to the output. I don't think the craft bot has to be upgraded at all.

@11:25 the reason your not getting a PULLING motion is because your base (the 2 pillars on the left) are lower than the lowest point of the rod connected to the wheel to fix this, increase the length of the base (the 2 pillars to the left)

for the loop action on the craftbot you only need to put a chest on the other side, no upgrade necessary. The oil pump looks nice, would be cool if the craftbot is integrated somehow.

You can put pistons instead of those supports holding the hammer, that way you can adjust the height of the anchor point and make it goes both ways (down and up of the horizon line). :D By the way, you doesn't need to upgrade the craft bot to level 5, it can be level 1, to enable option for loop crafting you just need to connect storage on the output :D One tip, you also doesn't need separate storage for each input and output, just put every storage connected to the output and use tubes from them to bring resource to the input or you can put opposite, all storage on input and connect output with tubes :D That way you can group all storage boxes in one place and craft bot to another one :D

If you wanted to go really realistic, you could add a sensor that activates pumps if it detects the pump beam passing and deactivates otherwise. Then pumping speed would actually depend on how fast the wheel turns.

To make the boom drop below horizontal on each sweep, shorten your con rod. Also, try a shorter drop rod with a bearing at each end, attached to another purely vertical rod that rises and falls in two collars, just for realism. What do you think?

Moonbo make a petrol station and automatic the oil into fuel. Also use a beacon to set the waypoint there.

you know, I find those old-timey oil jackpumps to be very fascinating. But funnily enough I think they were also referred to as "Oil Donkeys." So, maybe, if you wanna go further with this idea, maybe you could style the pump to look like a donkey! Would be pretty funny!

Since the oil pump doesn’t go down and only goes up you could make the rod that connects the wheel to the “pump” shorter and start it in the middle right of the wheel rather than the bottom middle

Moonbo, you don't need a level 5 craftbot for the looping. All you need is to put a chest on the output of the craft bot. A level 1 craft bot will loop with a chest conneccted

You could put pistons under the two supports that extend of the lift so those bearings are slightly higher causing a pulling action on its downward part of the rotation

You're going to kick yourself, Moonbo. For the craftbot to loop, all you really needed was a receiving chest. Also, you could probably flip the chests over, with only 2 pumping into each, then pipe from the tops into a third chest - which you then have connected to the craftbot and finally out to a fourth chest. Not only would it make the station look more animated, etc, but with a flip of that switch and a few minutes wait - Gasoline without having to move a single thing ... other than the switch and grabbing the gas' itself :-D

i think you should def hook those oil chests into the input of the craftbot for easy of use because you can set a full upgraded craftbot to loop and it will continue to craft cause itll continue to get oil incoming. Youd have to sacrifice 1 pump on each chest but thats and easy sacrifice to make and you can easily add a 3 chest to the system to still have your 6 pumps. Hell, you could even optimize the system to have enough pumps to make your oil income equal to the speed at which the craft bot crafts if its fast enough

I like the build but you could remove one of the vacuum pumps and connect it to a chest that is connected to a craft bot and have a few chests connected via each other or vacuum tubes set up as output. You'd get five oil every time and it's one to one for oil into gas with the craft bot making it on a loop.

The reason why you aren’t getting any pulling action is because when you built the cross arm the flywheel was in its full downstroke position. If you attached it when it was in mid stroke you would get the pulling and pushing action but the cycle wouldn’t be as extreme.

What i would of done for the oil pump is when it was still on the lift, I would of moved the cam arm to the 3 or 9 o'clock position so there it would be leveled then 6 o'clock would be fully up and 12 o'clock fully down. The A frame would of probably have to be taller so the increase stroke distance don't cause it to hit the wheel.

OK Moonbo I have an idea. It's half cool half stupid but hear me out: make a sensor at the bottom of the shaft that goes down and connect that sensor to the pumps. every time it goes down it pumps oil. I don't know how real oil wells work but it seems like they work like that right? idk it seemed like a cool idea but not very practical so that makes it stupid :D I mean you can add 2 options one sensor one automatic. it's essentially infinite oil either way. anyways love your vids keep up the great work!

If you make the starting position on the right side of the wheel it will be able to go up and down properly.
