This was only the second balsa wood and tissue model I ever built (talk about diving in at the deep end). I bought it mainly because it has an under cambered wing ( you will see what I mean) and assumed that the build guide would be as extensive and detailed as that of the Vintage Model Company’s SE5a. How wrong I was but I persevered and this set of stills is how I got on.
Sorry but I could not find any information about the real plane.

Hi, I bought the kit over 20 yrs ago and just got round to making it ! Not laser cut though .. I’m putting lightweight RC in it. Powered by 1S LiPo. Thanks for the video and tips 👍

Hi again. It’s my first balsa kit for over 60yrs. Do you cover both sides of the tail plane and rudder with tissue ? Thanks again 😊

Excellent build. I am working on a peanut scale Caudron Type N. I wanted to see how the rigging wires are held. Your video gave me some very good ideas....Thank you !

Another great build video, Rob. I like the way you use a glue stick to initially attach the tissue and then fix properly with dope on the overlap. Bending all those wing spars looks like a pain in the ass! Awesome finished aeroplane, thumbs up! :-)

Lovely build but no dihedral. I can’t see it being easy to trim. Superb video.

Rob, that's a quite impressive and COMPLEX Aeroplane!! 😳 Looks rickety and fragile - just how a pre-WWI Aircraft did. Top Job my friend!! 👏👏👏 Carmine ✈🚂🚙

Many thanks Carmine. I still can get over this was only my second ever build!!!! I do now think that the new engine may have made it nose heavy but I think this is one plane that will never be taken out to fly> I can imagine the wings coming off on every landing lol.

That's truly impressive Rob!! 😳😎👊 Second build? Here's something that I can actually help with... I've flown real Aircraft as well as Models. CoG (centre of gravity) is actually easy to figure out! 😉 The CoG is usually the first 20-25% of the Main Wing. Measure the width of the WinG, then mark a dot, a little short of 1/4th of that distance under the Wing, favouring towards the front, about 4cm from the Wing Root... You then want to support the Aircraft by just those two dots. Put one finger on each dot, with the nose pointed towards you. The Aeroplane should be level, to slightly Nose down. A little Nose heavy is actually DESIRABLE - especially for inexperienced Pilots and Lighter Aircraft. Or just for Maiden Flights. There's an old saying I learned in Flight School about 100 years ago... "A little Nose heavy makes for a sluggish Flight..... A little TAIL heavy makes for a short Crash!" That adage has proven even more true with Models. Cheers mate!!

Crikey Rob this does seem complex for only your second build, especially with it having the rigging on the wings. Lovely end product though and again I like your thinking outside the box using the old model sprue to create the tail skid. Great video again Rob..👍👍.
