Yes you have to make sure concrete is level usually it’s called grade and screeded or “floated” whatever you wanna call it watching this made me cringe a little bit especially since they didn’t put rebar in the mesh concrete which is essentially fiberglass it’s not good to have the concrete adhere to nothing it’s weaker if they wanted that to last long they would have put rebar in and not cheaped out

@The_sinner_Jim_Whitney
@The_sinner_Jim_Whitney 4 жыл бұрын
Kenneth Sev I imagine that's true. It's below freezing down there what, once every couple years? And I don't think they ever have radical 50-degree swings over like 12 hours like we do all the time here in WV. What it really should've been if they wanted to avoid rebar is probably roll-compressed concrete, but that's a LOT more expensive because they have to build a batch plant onsite to make the concrete, plus it requires a bunch more specialized equipment and so on. That pad wouldn't last a year where I live and work, but here's hoping it will down there.

Not necessarily, I understand were you coming from but it's not that simple. Sometimes experience and knowledge of the machine is what allows a seemingly more aggressive approach, I own my own rig and I push it far harder now then I did years ago before I actually understood the design and build of it. I used to worry about blowing up the engine by running higher rpms and such, but in reality running lower RPMs with the higher egts is actually far more likely to do it harm it. And at the price of $30k+ for a rebuild I'd rather burn a bit of extra fuel at a higher RPM then risk melting a piston at lower RPM.
@zaoc1
@zaoc1 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was just commenting that for the meme'ness of it. As a matter of fact, my boss drives our trucks harder than I do which would be the reverse of what I even wrote lol. (out of concretenetwork.com) And according to wikipedia, "The most common truck capacity is 8 cubic yards" that makes 904$ per truck. He said there were a hundred trucks coming, that makes 90k$. (Had to do the math, even tho I feel like it makes me come out as an asshole, if I didn't do the math you would've called me a dumbass after I told you you were way off) You're not even close. All of that is calculated with normal client prices, just like if you and me paid for concrete, but contractors always get better price, and you can imagine how much of a discount you probably get when ordering a hundred trucks worth of concrete.

I love how Cletus is getting so into this, and showing us how much actually goes into making a good place for us to actually enjoy Vehicles. Often times we just pull up to an empty parking lot lay down some tire marks on some asphalt but we don't even really think about the ground that were enjoying. On another note I have to crack a giggle at watching all the dudes take a break about halfway through the video for some reason that shit was funny cuz I think car enthusiasts and construction workers have something in common when you're working out in the sun whether you're cranking on a car or building something or doing any sort of manual labor really we all can appreciate sitting down wherever we can fit our asses and shoving something down their stomach

Cleetus makes enough money to step up in the content, and with every step he has a better return. @@W1ldTangent remember it's not only an investment in the track itself but in the content possibilities for the channel so killing two birds with one stone makes the cost somewhat more bearable I suppose. Also at the very least it's a nice chunk of land with utilities in place so also not too bad.

Running the numbers, the concrete alone costs around $250,000, not including the labor and pour costs. Asphalt job was another $50-100k job, although he got a really good cut on that with the labor being free.
