Personally I would leave the mis match colors on the forecastle grates. The timber on Victory would have been different colors across her life span. When I installed the capstan cover in the officers bar on the real ship this topic was actually raised. The only thing we did was drag the capstan top down the street and beat it with chains for weathering. The stain was roughly matched to the bar top if I remember correctly. Fantastic series.
