I love how these came out and I know I said it in part 1 I think, but the head board accents are amazing! Love that! It was fun seeing the whole family help hold things!

Nice job Bruce! The grain in that maple is sweet! And the walnut goes nicely with it! I bet your kids are pretty excited for their new beds!

Enjoyed watching the process. Always interesting to see how people work through the challenges that come with a build. Oh, and “I could build that if I had all of those tools”. Didn’t see that in the comments yet. I know how much you love that one. LOL. Great videos.

Great Video! Here’s a tip for anyone who needs to break the bed down more often or quicker. When doing the slats, cut a bunch of spacer block. Glue and Brad nail those in using a small setup block to give you a little wiggle room between the spacers and slats. That way you can just drop the slats in and they won’t fall out but don’t have to remove all the screws to break the bed down.

That’s a good call. The manufacturer of the brackets said to put them together this way, but I don’t see why you couldn’t have the post parts of the brackets on the headboard and footboard, rather than the rails. Might give some more options.

The brackets could stay the same way. That’s how I did my bed. I meant on the cleats that support the slats, that way the slats could be lifted on and off the cleats without undoing screws.

Beds look great, Bruce. I think I would have inlayed the design element as I think the boys will eventually break break some of the walnut accent pieces off. And boy, are they proud of those dog hole clamps!
@BruceAUlrich

Yeah, I thought about inlaying the accents. We actually like the 3 dimensional look they give being proud.

I guess I should have. I took them over to just hit them a few times by hand thinking it would be quick. I guess after I was into it a ways, I forgot all about having that tool. Ha ha
