How does screen compare to Mirraviz Ultravbright screen? Which one do you think handles daylight best?
@BuildMontage2 жыл бұрын
Both screens handled brightness well - the main difference with this one is having the black levels while in full daylight. The Mirraviz one I had in for review while the image looks great even with full light, the dark parts of a scene were not dark. Still very cool tech on the Mirraviz although it destroyed my wall pulling the magnets down, and I had a very angry wife, had to replaster patch and paint the wall with a feature paint.

Hi what is the difference between CLR and CLR 3 screen? Which one should I buy for optoma D2 3000 lumens. I have a big bright windows. Thanks.
@BuildMontage2 жыл бұрын
Best way to compare them would be that CLR is the OLED of screens which help black levels in a dark room environment and more provide more ceiling light rejection vs. CLR 3 which is a little more brighter and is the LCD of screens. But in general, both are great options vs a matte white material in an ambient light room environment.

@BuildMontage2 жыл бұрын
I personally thing 130" is too much for the LSP9T - you will lose a fair amount of brightness and also have to pull the projector pretty far forward and have it quite low down to reach that span with the aspect/throw distance.

Can I use a regular throw projector with this screen or has to be UST projector ?

No as it will block the light coming from above. A short throw from the ground level will work. I tested with my Nebula 4k and it worked well.

Hi Tony, great review! Really need some advice please. We have a Viewsonic X1000 4K UST and need an amazing screen. I have spoken with Elite Screens and spoken with Tony at Deer Park, who was a big help. My concern is the gain of the screen at .6, from what I understand, this will reduce the light output of the projector to your eyes. The X1000 is only 2400 lumens so I want it to be bright and give an image that pops. We would also like to use 3D as the projector has that function. WIll the Aeon StarBright CLR CineGrey 120" do all of this? Or should I be looking at something with a higher gain? Say, 1.0 or 1.3? Please help!!!!!
@BuildMontage2 жыл бұрын
I cant really advise you one way or the other. Can Elitescreens send a sample? I don't want to recommend something and it doesnt work out as they cost isnt small. My vava chroma looks great on my screen - plenty of brightness and pops like a TV.

So I bought the vava screen because you it was a good screen. Now in this video you’re saying it’s not and this one is better. It would be nice if you guys would do an honest review. haven’t sent my vava screen up yet. Now I feel like I bought the wrong screen thanks buddy.
@BuildMontage2 жыл бұрын
The Vava screen is great. I said it wasn’t as good at mitigating the light from the back door. When I cover the door up it’s perfect. I showed all the flaws in the Vava screen in an open and honest way way. Watch it again and u will see I didn’t hide anything. The devil is in the details. I never expressly recommend anything, I say “if” and a specific use case. It’s up to you to determine if it’s right for you. Also this screen reviewed here is a LOT more expensive. It’s more than double the cost. Edit: I guarantee you won’t be disappointed with the Vava 100”. That construction method and adjustable height make it a game changer still over any other screen and in a light controlled room it will be excellent.
@brianskafte2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tony, Thanks for the video demo, I really like that side by side comparison of daytime vs evening. In the end of the video you are saying the 103 inch is the same as the 100”, I’m sure you’re right - as well as the us version should have some light strip as an optional add-on to the frame, compared to the ones available in EU. I found your video demo today - two days after buying the 120” CLR screen (AR120H-CLR) and as the CLR3 seems to be 103” or 123” (conparable with the US version you are mentioning why some might be confused - myself included initially), I just wanted to comment with my pre-purchase investigation, as CLR, CLR 2 & CLR 3 got different specs for the screen material where CLR 2 differs the most due to its ability to work as a whiteboard. So here they are - shortened screen specs: CLR (StarBright CLR) Gain 0.6 Absorbs up to 95% overhead light 180 degree viewing angle 100x contrast improvement CLR2 Gain 0.8 Absorbs up to 90% overhead light 160 degree viewing angle 50% contrast improvement Scratch resistent / Easy to clean / dry clean surface (whiteboard alternative) CLR3 Gain 0.8 Absorbs up to 90% overhead light 170 degree viewing angle 75x contrast improvement Please correct me if I’m wrong - and again Thank you for your video - just made me a bit more sure I choose the correct screen for my ultra short throw projector - even though it hurt my pockets spending almost the same as for a decent smart-tv on top of the projector. Additional note for anyone interested in the product: Be aware the screen material of at least the CLR is prone to fingerprints, and not an easy clean screen either but a “dont touch” and “only wipe from left to right”. So maybe not best option in living room if you got kids, animals etc.
@BuildMontage2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are 100% correct, and I debated including this information in the video but thought it may confuse people. I wanted to just show the screen I had and the material. The CLR is the most absorbant and give the best black levels was my understanding and is also more expensive. Im very happy with it.

mr2cqql - I own a ust laser, and I dont know and havent seen any better screen. That being said I’ve only owned both for days, and on top even the hifi shops here stoppes having projection screens or samples of material laying around - why purchasing this kind of equipment to me is a huge trust game taken the price tag into consideration, leaving me with only one option - local (read same country) dealers as an option, to have just a very tiny chance to be able to return it, for a high fee, if it turns out worse than projecting on a white wax fabric on a frame 😂 Last but not least - this screen is really good in daylight, and awesome in dark surroundings - especially when 4K HDR material is thrown at it. In short - I’m satisfied, but also tempted to know what other option you find “best”
