I had a 1998 F150 extended cab with a 4.6 l engine. When I bought it, it had 4 miles on the odometer, straight from the factory. I replaced the motor at 350,000 miles on it, it's history was changing the oil when required, tune up kit, brake jobs, alignment, oil change the differential. The transmission never gave me any issues. When I retired in 2017, I wanted a newer truck as a gift to me, so I gave my beloved Ford truck to my brother in law, he needed it for his work. To this day, that truck is still running, no issues what's so ever.

had one come in with 430k miles on it, factory everything as far as I know, it didn't run very well and desperately needed maintenance, but, it still drove in, probably replacement plugs

When a kid hit my 03 Ranger with 220k on it I got an abused 03 F150 5.4* that had 240k on it. Only thing I had to do was the intake manifold and got it to 320k miles before it wouldn't pass state inspection. The 10th gens were great trucks (other than the plug blowout issue.) *Meant the 5.4 not the 5.0 which garnered some discussion.

I had a company van that wished for the life yours has. The engine had an oil leak that rivaled the Exon Valdez. The engine is the original and transmission as well. I was hired when we took delivery of the van. We had one other van we purchased with that one. The 2nd van was totalled. The original van retired still running. The van was given to a good friend. He started his company fleet with that van.

Water is how the old timers used to clean carbon build up off the combustion chamber and valves
@bobbg904128 күн бұрын
I did it back in the 1970s just not with a water house. I had a friend who raced oval track dirt cars. He argued with me on water in the combustion chamber. At the time I drove a Plymouth feather duster, it had the slant 6 engine same body as the Duster I took off the air breather and poured in a glass of water Yes it slowed down the motor but it ran. Would i do it to a modern motor nope. But it does burn the carbon off the valves. Chemical methods are better IMO Plus they use a controlled fulid flow

This one was hard to give a thumbs up to. Destroying a Ford seems sacrilegious. On the other hand, it was kind of fun to watch. If you can’t purposely blow up a truck that is already in very bad condition in the time period allowed for a video, it is either one tough truck fighting for its life or you’re not really trying. I’m guessing one tough truck. Perhaps it deserves to survive and run the roads again.

Years ago i had a 67 ford galaxie 500 with a 289 in it. Back in those days there were kits that enabled you to add Water Injection. I only used the injection in the summer, for obvious reasons, when i took road trips. I swear that the water injection added to my milage very noticeably. I was getting 27 to 30 mpg with the injection.
