I had a 1998 F150 extended cab with a 4.6 l engine. When I bought it, it had 4 miles on the odometer, straight from the factory. I replaced the motor at 350,000 miles on it, it's history was changing the oil when required, tune up kit, brake jobs, alignment, oil change the differential. The transmission never gave me any issues. When I retired in 2017, I wanted a newer truck as a gift to me, so I gave my beloved Ford truck to my brother in law, he needed it for his work. To this day, that truck is still running, no issues what's so ever.

had one come in with 430k miles on it, factory everything as far as I know, it didn't run very well and desperately needed maintenance, but, it still drove in, probably replacement plugs

The 10th gen and 11th gen are very different beasts. I own both and the '08 requires much more maintenance at higher costs. Still better than later years though.

When a kid hit my 03 Ranger with 220k on it I got an abused 03 F150 5.4* that had 240k on it. Only thing I had to do was the intake manifold and got it to 320k miles before it wouldn't pass state inspection. The 10th gens were great trucks (other than the plug blowout issue.) *Meant the 5.4 not the 5.0 which garnered some discussion.

I had a company van that wished for the life yours has. The engine had an oil leak that rivaled the Exon Valdez. The engine is the original and transmission as well. I was hired when we took delivery of the van. We had one other van we purchased with that one. The 2nd van was totalled. The original van retired still running. The van was given to a good friend. He started his company fleet with that van.

My 4.2 V6 F150 is about to turn 270,000. Still uses no oil between changes. Just periodic fluid and oil changes. The driver's seat is shot, though.

Water is how the old timers used to clean carbon build up off the combustion chamber and valves
@bobbg9041
@bobbg9041 28 күн бұрын
I did it back in the 1970s just not with a water house. I had a friend who raced oval track dirt cars. He argued with me on water in the combustion chamber. At the time I drove a Plymouth feather duster, it had the slant 6 engine same body as the Duster I took off the air breather and poured in a glass of water Yes it slowed down the motor but it ran. Would i do it to a modern motor nope. But it does burn the carbon off the valves. Chemical methods are better IMO Plus they use a controlled fulid flow

267th! I have a white with gold trim 1996 F150 Eddie Bauer extended cab with a 5.0. It’s.a garage queen that looks as good as it did when new. It hauls things to the landfill a couple times a year. And driven all winter to work, before retirement. Originally was used to haul things back and forth between Pierre and Denver. Has about 97,000 miles on it. It’s never had food eaten in the cab, just water. So the upholstery is immaculate. Love that thing. They just keep going. Roger in Pierre South Dakota

I had an F100, an 82 I think, with a 300 six. Drove from Charlotte NC to Miami and as I was getting on 95 I noticed a loud noise and turned down the radio. Stopped at the gas station and bought 2 qts of oil. Went back in and bought 2 more… went back in to get one more to top that baby off. No idea how long I drove that with no oil but I did drive it for another 2 years before selling it. As far as I know it’s still running 🤣 Ford tuff

1988 S10 Blazer 4x4 with a 2.8L and 327K on it. We beat that thing off of anything and everything. Roof cut off, doors ripped off by backing up past a telephone pole. Front end was stuck in 4x4 because we bashed it off of a concrete divider for hours on end. Oddly the next morning at the junk yard the loader guy gave me that "Well what can I grab" look and I reached in turned the key and it started straight up and began pulling on the straps. I yelled I can park it where every you wish Sir....Some are harder to kill!!!

During the 1970s gas crisis, you could buy a kit containing a water storage bottle, some hose and a nozzle. You mounted the nozzle down into the carburetor and drive the car with a mist of water being sucked in. It was supposed to increase your fuel mileage and help blow carbon out of your engine. Cool video. Thanks Ray and the guys.

This one was hard to give a thumbs up to. Destroying a Ford seems sacrilegious. On the other hand, it was kind of fun to watch. If you can’t purposely blow up a truck that is already in very bad condition in the time period allowed for a video, it is either one tough truck fighting for its life or you’re not really trying. I’m guessing one tough truck. Perhaps it deserves to survive and run the roads again.

Years ago i had a 67 ford galaxie 500 with a 289 in it. Back in those days there were kits that enabled you to add Water Injection. I only used the injection in the summer, for obvious reasons, when i took road trips. I swear that the water injection added to my milage very noticeably. I was getting 27 to 30 mpg with the injection.

Ho about a mix-up? Put the engine coolant in the transmission, put the transmission fluid in the power steering pump, and put the gas in the oil fill hole. Yeah. 😮

Ford power steering pumps use transmission fluid.

@@jsh6952 well, there, you see? We have a place to put the transmission fluid before we do a fluid transfer from the engine coolant overflow tank. Once that’s done, we can take the transmission fluid out of the power steering pump and put it in the master brake cylinder reservoir! 🤣 Or maybe just put it back in the windshield wiper fluid. Either way. 🙂

I've owned several vehicles with the Ford Modular v8, and they won't die without a fight. This thing took a lot of water.
