I just finished up all of my college apps and I can not tell you enough how important getting it done EARLY is! Start your essays and everything in August and September even if they aren’t due until January. It will save you SO much stress and prevent procrastination as the school year gets more intense. Also, it is really important to make a spread sheet early of the schools you want to apply to with dates and information about the school so you don’t miss anything as life gets hectic closer to due dates :)

soOOooO you’re becoming a senior. Some advice that you probably already were given but just in case is: - Start college essays at least an outline UCs which I assume you’re applying to have the insights up ! Also Cal States for EOP ! - When you do get accepted instead of sending individual AP test scores (costs $10 to send each test) send them all at once for your final AP tests and it’s free - Get FAFSA done !! It only takes like 2 hours I swear - Don’t procrastinate, most seniors stop trying because they already sent applications but DONT do that. They usually drop in rank, GPA drops which affects the Cal Grants (GPA based money given) and more. - Have some fun too okay please I didn’t and regret it a lil - Connect with your teachers, senior teachers are usually hecka cool

Loved this video! For dates, definitely be aware of deadlines for sending in test scores (like SAT and/or ACT) (some schools have different deadlines so be sure to check when they are for the schools you want to apply to) and also financial aid applications (like FAFSA and CSS for private schools). It might still be a bit early for you since you are a junior but definitely keep those in mind or in your bujo for when senior year rolls around :)

Hi! I loved your video. I'm a freshman in college now, so I started applications for university and scholarships a little over a year ago. My advice is to save every essay, short answer, and resume you do. Most applications are very similar and ask the same questions. It saves so much time to already have something written that you just need to tweak to fit the word count of question more accurately. Enjoy being a senior next year! College Apps were my biggest stresser, so if you get them done early all you have to do is schoolwork and have fun! It goes by quick and soon enough you'll be done!

I just graduated from my undergrad and am starting grad school this semester. I can tell you that its beneficial to apply to multiple schools even if you have your heart set on just one. Also even though you don't have the specific dates you need yet, most colleges post what the application requirements are. I highly recommend that you try to prepare for those requirements over the summer, then when you apply you should have most of it ready to go!

I'm a college freshman, so I was just doing this last year. I wasn't able to apply until the last minute of some of the latest deadlines. Part of that had to do with being diagnosed with epilepsy at the end of August senior year. Life lesson: give yourself time, and account for any surprises, fortunate or unfortunate. We delayed retaking the SAT until December. I believed my mother had reserved, as she usually does, but then I was studying on Thanksgiving break and she told me she forgot and missed the late deadline. Life lesson: sign up for things yourself. If you need a given parental unit's credit card, just talk to them. Also, write your essays by yourself first, so it's your voice and no one else's, and then get people, like family and/or friends to check it. Don't be afraid of critical feedback. Good luck! I hope you get into your dream school!

Please please please don't put all your eggs into one basket. Apply to multiple schools so that you have cushion. Take into account distance, cost, whether you want it to be a big school or a mid sized or small. Think about public or private. If you have a car, look to see if freshmen can have their cars and how much a parking permit cost. Look into their clubs and sororities. Check their academics, especially if you do not know what you want to major in. I cannot stress research enough. It is very important to look at every single aspect when applying to a school. Hope this helps 🤗🤗

college application tips! 1. please don’t forget financial aid/scholarship deadlines for your schools! they’re often different than final deadlines for applying and can be easy to miss, so make sure you pay attention to those 2. if your school has a rule like mine where you have to turn in your transcript release form 10 school days before your college’s deadline, count it out ahead of time!! i almost missed my top school’s deadline because i forgot about winter break. thank god my friend reminded me or i would not have been able to apply to some of my schools 3. meet with your guidance counselor often! they can check over your common app, make sure you’re going in the right direction, remind you of deadlines, etc 4. if you continue to take challenging classes in your senior year, do not underestimate the amount of work you’ll have to do and the amount of time you’ll have to do it! i severely overestimated the extra time i would have to complete my applications and i barely finished them in time. i had originally wanted them done in mid october, and ended up finishing in december. set times aside where you specifically work on your applications for maybe one hour a day, for example. good luck with your applications!! i hope they all go well!! don’t make the same mistakes that i did lol

Totally going to use this as my buju inspo! As for college applications and common app, I cannot stress enough how important it is to get everything done early. Write all your essays in the summer and when school is starting back up, tour your schools in the first couple months of school, have a good idea of where you want to go by October or November and I believe the Early Action decision is the second or third friday in december. A lot of this info you can find online and if you’re touring colleges you’ll make tons of friends along the way who will keep you updated! Best of luck with your admissions decisions!

I just got accepted into college and I highly recommend applying early!!!! So much stress was lifted off of me when I submitted everything early and now I can focus on the rest of my senior year because I know my second semester is going to be stressful lol. I didn't have much experience with writing lots of essays since I only wrote one for the Common App but I just REALLY recommend applying early. It's also really helpful to go to the colleges too and get a tour and see if you like the campus and the area and can just imagine yourself happily living there. Good luck to everyone out there!

For college applications and decision making, I would definitely suggest you start doing your research on which colleges interest you and offer a major of your interest before your summer starts. This way you can plan way ahead of time which colleges you want to tour over summer and what dates they have that work for you to visit. I know a lot of colleges start accepting early applications as early as August so I would recommend filling out the Common App right away in July so you're able to enjoy your senior year and reduce any added stress. Another thing a lot of colleges do/have is the 'first come first serve' style for roommate in your freshman dorm, so when you have an idea of your top choices for colleges I would make sure to get your housing/dorm deposit in as soon as you can and if you have an idea of who you want to room with, make sure they get their deposit paid too; if one person pays in In early fall and the other doesn't pay until spring, they would go based off the person who pays in Spring. ALSO, if you haven't already I definitely recommend taking the ACT or SAT, wherever you live, more than once! Most people who take the ACT a second time score at least one point higher and even though the tests are not fun, just a point or two higher can actually get you a lot more money off your tuition! Definitely worth the money and time spent studying!

I just finished applying to colleges, and it was definitely a journey full of growth and learning. For dates, be sure to note the following: - FAFSA opens on October 1st (Sometimes, the sooner you submit that, the better. Many documents from your parents are necessary for this process. Also, make sure both you and your parents request a FSA ID about a month in advance to get through it quicker). - You already noted the Common App opening date. You can also use the Coalition. Some schools will only take one, but many will take both. Before you decide on Common, look at all of the schools of which you are applying and then decide which application you want to use primarily. I found that I was able to represent myself on the Coalition better. - For financial aid, many colleges have different deadlines for when to submit Income Tax Receipts and Schedules. You can find the dates on their financial aid websites under links for First Year Applicants. - Start looking for scholarships NOW. Note what scholarships people in the grade above you are applying to and winning. Then, ask them about the application and where and when to apply. I've found that their isn't really a scholarship season, so deadlines are all over the place. Definitely prioritize local scholarships. - Set deadlines for yourself. Ask for Letters of Recommendation in August/September and request to receive them three weeks later. Write your personal statement first in August before school starts. Then, note all of the supplemental materials required and set individual deadlines for each of these sections. - Send official test scores as soon as you decide which sitting you want to submit. Thank you for your great videos!

In terms of dates, there's regular decisions and early actions (which let you know that you've been accepted into the university a lot earlier therefore it means your application is due a lot earlier) so look around and check which universities you want to early action for and mark them down to get a head start

Most colleges have deadlines in January of the year you want to start. So if you plan on starting college September 2019, you need your application filled & submitted by January 2019. Important dates would be when your ACT/SAT scores will be available for sending out (and when the test is available to take, of course). Once you figure out which colleges you want to apply to, you'll want to know when they have open house and 1st Day at School events.

Not sure if someone has said it already, but I’m a college student right now and when I applied the most common deadline (for regular application anyway) was December 15th. Some were earlier and some were later, but that was when most of my applications were due! If you want to do early action/decision, those are usually due in October/early November. Good luck! Your organization will help you a ton in college, I’ve just started my first bullet journal and it’s a godsend.

College tip. Know the deadlines to get everything in for your apps. Even if you are undecided on schools yet, apply for a few of them. If one does not work out you always need a backup. Once you get accepted you then need to know all of the deadlines for scheduling your classes, advising, and payments. If you plan on applying for scholarships or FAFSA know those deadlines too! Some scholarships start the spring before a fall semester.

With schools you are interested in try to see if they have an early application option. I did that for my school and through most of my senior year (starting around November of my senior year) I already knew I was accepted and took a lot of stress away, I was able to focus on studying for AP exams. Don't be afraid to apply to schools that don't use the common app either.

Common app opening and deadline are both very important and also FAFSA. As for the other deadlines, it'll be a lot easier once you decide which schools you are applying to. It's super important that you start as early as possible for your common app essay and any other writing (some schools ask for other personal statements depending on the school and program/major you're applying for). Another thing to add later are open house dates. Good luck!

even though common app opens in August you can usually start your main essay and even look up the schools that you are applying to because some do not change from year to year - make sure you note when the early applications are due and I HIGHLY recommend applying to any school that offers it for Early Action because it's non-commital

Especially over the summer, because that will save you a lot of time and stress later. Even if you don't know where to start, there are lots of resources to help you. Another tip I have is: look up and write down all financial-aid-related dates. Those are very important.

SAT and ACT dates!! It takes about a week or two for colleges to actually accept the scores from College Board so keep the in mind with the application deadlines. Also, Early Action, Early Decision, and Regular Decision deadlines are all different and come with various benefits or disadvantages depending on what you're looking for so definitely look into those. Not sure if your school uses Naviance (ask your counselor) bc it helps a lot with deadlines!!

Some application tips is to definitely ask for teacher recommendations by the end of this school year bc they’re super busy in the beginning of the year. Some important dates for applying is November 15 (early action 1 or early decision 1) and December 15 (early action 2 or early decision 2 or rolling admission) and then January 1 or 15. Those were big dates for me and most people I knew but it really depends on the school. Another thing is try to crank that essay out before school starts because you’ll be loaded with homework or senioritis and procrastinate.... good luck! I’m just getting responses from schools now so

For college apps DEFINITELY apply as early as possible. Lots of places have early admission and you have a better chance of getting into the college and also qualifying for scholarships. And try writing essays where the prompts overlap between schools so you aren’t writing 1 essay per school. If I could redo my application process I totally would’ve written all my essays over the summer and applied earlier but I didn’t so I was at a disadvantage. It’s also not the end of the world if you don’t get into your “dream school”. I ended up going to my safety school and I qualified for a 4 year scholarship and I’m on track to graduate early. Hope this all helps and good luck! Don’t stress too much!

I went to a college essay writing seminar, and the most important thing they told us was to remember that your very short essay should show something meaningful about YOU! It sounds obvious, but so many people write great essays about someone like their granddad and forget that they’re supposed to be promoting themselves. Pick an experience that you’ve had that defines you, whether it’s something silly or serious, and explain how that experience translates to how you live your life. For example, I wrote an essay about the speech I wrote and gave about my experiences with mental illness, and that even though doing it scared me to death, I did it anyway because I had a chance to use my voice to speak for the those who weren’t as fortunate. I firmly believe that essay is why I got in to nearly every college I applied to and received very generous merit scholarships from many schools. Also, for the “why this college” essays, don’t talk about the city they’re located in! Talk about the school themselves, and take the time to look up traditions and landmarks at the school and mention them!

As for your college application process, good luck! Not every place is on Common App, so make sure you look into the others! Those are usually due before, so here are some important deadlines to keep in mind! - November 1: early application deadline - December 15: common deadline for those that aren’t on the Common App - January 1: regular decision deadline as well as recommended time to submit your FAFSA for early decision (I’d recommend you finish it extremely early) - March 1: recommended FAFSA submission for regular decision (again, I’d recommend you finish it early) Hope this helps!!

Whatever work I have that day for a specific subject, I put the work in there. Eg. if I have biology and write any notes, I’ll put it in the biology section. When I come back home, I rewrite the notes and highlight important information and put the sheet into a seperate subject binder. I then study for the subjects that I have the next day for 45 minutes each subject. Then I do my homework. I have 3 breaks for 10 minutes each. I have a free day every Saturday.I rinse and repeat every day. Any feedback and opinions would be greatly appreciated 😁😁😁

For dates, I’d be aware of November 1 for early deadlines and try to get all of your applications done by December 1, it makes the winter a lot less stressful. Also it may be helpful to outline an application every weekend and keep track of it in your journal based on each school’s deadline. That’s what has worked for me. Great video!

for college apps- definitely make a list of what schools require official score reports, and when financial aid deadlines are! I also filled out most of my common app in late August (just the basic information that I already knew) and had my personal statement done by late October for early action deadlines. Applying early action to at least one school was a great decision because it forced me to have my whole common application done early. My friends who didn't do any early are stressing tf out about getting their main essay AND supplementals done right now!

When you do consider to apply to certain colleges, make sure to do research on the school's scholarships and early-application deadlines. I don't know where you live or what schools are near you, but I missed out on a full-ride scholarship to Eastern Michigan University because I procrastinated and ended up missing the deadline. The University of Michigan has early application deadlines and if you are able to get your essay and your application in by that time then you will find out by Christmas Eve whether or not you got into Michigan. It is helpful to gets started on common app essays and scholarship essays as soon as possible because they do take time. Even as an AP student, writing essays for scholarships still takes several days to thoroughly compose and get peer revisions so make sure that you don't wait on those. It's also a very good idea to take college tours and see what colleges will be a good fit for you. Sometimes a college will have really good programs and statistics but then when you actually go there it's not the kind of place that you want to spend the next few years at. When you do decide on a few different schools, invest time in them and making connections with students and teachers there who can tell you what stuff is really like and help you decide if you want to go there or not. Also, the FAFSA is something that you should work on getting done with your parents around the September-October time period. Your school will probably have some tips or presentations about it and it's a good idea to attend those. If you decide to mail in your FAFSA, make sure to allow extra time for it to be processed because it will take longer than if it was filled out online. It's also a good idea to talk to your parents and see if you qualify for grants and if you don't, then don't waste time filling them out if you won't get them anyways. Consider also making a timeline of when you want to get stuff done. For example, FAFSA done by October, fill out two scholarships or college applications a month, etc. Make sure that you set goals of what you want to accomplish and stick to them, otherwise, it's easy to get distracted by high school, sports, and work and then not get college things done. Hope this helps! I'm a high school senior right now so feel free to reach out if you have any questions or anything!

Keep track of SAT dates, Incase you want to try to get a higher grade, because after you submit your application there’s pretty much no point in retaking, and keep track of when financial aid is due so that you get everything done on time, once you figure out what schools you go to write down there due dates many colleges have different due dates for applications. Hope this helps!

Hello! Senior here who recently completed the college application process :) If you are applying to UCs and CSUs, both are usually due November 30. Privates are all variable but if you want to do early applications, most are due around the beginning of November. Apply for FAFSA as soon as you can because it is first come first served. Write all of your college apps over the summer and turn them in early because the servers are known to crash on due dates. I would also advise against letting tons of people read your essays because the more people that touch it, the less you it becomes. That's it! Please don't stress about college too much; it really is not as big of a deal as people make it out to be

I’d recommend looking up when the SAT and ACT testing dates are. Those are published well in advance, and you’ll need a few months to prepare. You’ll want to give yourself at least 2 test opportunities before school application deadlines (Oct/Nov for early acceptance and Jan for most others) just to give yourself a fallback in case you aren’t happy with the score of your first test. Of course if you are happy, then you can forego the second test. Better to overplan than underplan! Also I’d recommend applying to at least 1 school with a stupid early application date, even if it isn’t your favorite. This will force you to have all of your basic application materials ready to go (recommendations/essays/resume/transcripts/etc.) so that you won’t risk scrambling at the last minute for schools you really do care about. All you’ll need to do are small tweaks to addresses, school names which are much more manageable than stressing about a full essay. Good Luck!

Couple tips for college apps: University of Washington has the earliest due date I can think of, Nov 15, so if you want to apply there, finish that one first. If you can, try to do either all common app or all coalition so that you don’t have to spend a lot of time doing both. If can reuse an essay for more schools by changing a few things, do that rather than writing a bunch of new essays. Don’t procrastinate. If you are re-taking standardized tests, study for them. It can improve your score vastly. Apply to some reach schools, some just right schools, and a few backup schools. That’s all I can think of right now. Good luck!

be aware of what deadlines your school has for sending transcripts/getting recommendations from teachers, plus dealing with your guidance counselor for the ED agreement if you're ED'ing somewhere. Also! the common app prompts are not really important as they're all vague and tend not to change year to year so start! planning! now! i would kill to have finished at least a few essays over the summer, though i guess it worked out lol. also note any times when schools you are interested in are visiting your area for an info session bc those are rly helpful and important for showing interest

Dates to note for college applications: Common App Due (which you noted) UC/CSU deadlines (if you're interested in these -- or perhaps state schools in general; I live in CA, so I only know CA -- which are EARLIER than common app deadline Early admission deadlines -- for whichever school you are die-hard to get into Also, if you get any college interviews, those would be good dates to note once you get them (if you do them -- I didn't do any college interviews, but I know some people who did -- I think the main IVY leagues do interviews as well as a few others)

College application advice: If you know you are applying to a school early action, pay attention to what day that application is due because it will be earlier than the regular admission decision. Also other important dates to keep in mind are when scholarship applications are due, especially for the schools that you are applying to. Honestly, I didn't have my full list of colleges until the end of July, but after that I made sure that I knew the dates that the apps open and when they closed, etc.

Most early decisions rang from mid November to beginning of December , I know this year for me my earliest deadline was November 8th , if your not doing early action it’s mostly January to mid February , I suggest early action though it looks better and some colleges will give you money for applying early , but getting as much done on the common app as u can right when it comes out is easier , you should do all of your personal stuff right and away you can continue to add colleges as you go and u can send in applications before those due dates if ur ready, and I suggest also doing the FSFA as soon as it comes out as well it’s a long process; I’m not sure when that comes out but that would be another good date to add to ur calendar

October and November 1st! FAFSA opens October 1st, and most colleges early action deadline is November 1st. Filing FAFSA early ensures you get the most money for college, and knowing when every deadline is helps you keep on track with your application.

Make sure you know when to sign up for ACT/SAT if you need to take it again and need scores before ED/EA deadlines! Also when you know which schools you are applying to look to see if they have a non binding EA option because that is such a stress reliever to apply early and get it out of the way without binding yourself to one program

->Note your ACT and SAT dates(whichever you prefer). ->Try to know the colleges you might want to apply to and try to know what their last day of applying is and know everything about restrictive early action, early action and regular action. ->Try to complete your common app essay in your summers only. ->Some questions are same in many colleges so do write thier answers too. I mean I started writing it in June and then procrastinated and then ended up completing them in towards the start of August. ->See if you can apply for scholarship for some colleges. ->Starting early will you give a lot of time to edit and you won't end up being tensed. I had personally made a notebook and listed different stories from my life and where those stories are needed. I don't know if this is what you meant when you asked the question but I hope this helps you or other people over here. Wishing everyone a good luck and you guys have got this.

For the college dates, make sure you do fasfa on October 1st! It is really important as an incoming freshman to remember that, if you are going in the United States! And for most colleges, November 1st is either the cut off day or early decision day! It is best to figure out where you wanna go and then go by that! I'll be a college junior in fall 2019 so if you have any questions, I can most likely help!

For applying to college- make sure you research the majors and programs you might be interested in extensively before choosing a college. The college I am at appeared to have all the majors and programs I could ever want but after I got here, I realized the creative majors like studio art and graphic art weren’t the best:/ Don’t stress too much tho- I got waitlisted at my top choice college but it made me look into a lot of other options. Just make sure you do a lot of research and don’t let prestige blind you:))

Decide what schools you want to go to BEFORE you fill out the common app. A lot of the schools that I applied to didn't use the common app (only 1 out of 9), they had a separate school specific application, so I wasted a TON of time filling it out. If I remember correctly, automatic scholarship consideration has a deadline of early November. Good luck applying for everything!! Your journal looks so dang cute, hope it helps keep you organized

Typically Early Action and Decision deadlines are November 1st although some are October 15th or November 15th. December 1st is typically a deadline for schools that have a specific scholarship (for example, Boston University has the Trustee Scholarship and all materials are due on the 1st for consideration for that). January 1st, 2nd, and 15th are common days for regular decision. Good luck! The process is different for everyone and largely dependent on where you’re applying, but I do have two pieces of advice: finish all of your testing before school starts (you don’t want to be worrying about that along with classes) and get all of the tedious fill in the blank application questions done and out of the way quickly. EDIT: I also definitely agree with what another commenter said about a spreadsheet. It’s super helpful to note which schools require which supplementary materials like test scores and financial information. Some schools don’t require them until after you’ve been admitted, so not sending them will save you a ton of money (that being said, I don’t think sending in your test scores anyways hurts, especially if you’re proud of them)

girl ok so tips on college apps bc i just finished mine like 2 months ago. Write like 5 essays over the summer just on random topics and girl, they will help so so so much you can just copy paste them to different prompts because each prompt is extremely similar, i only ever ended up using one essay for all my apps, and then separate smaller essays that i took out of my main 5 that i wrote for short answers. Sent all your sat or act scores the moment you decide to apply to the school because they take so so long to get to schools. If a school has rolling apps apply asap bc you will have a higher chance of admission and will get more money. get everything done as soon as u can itll make things go so much easier!!!

Obviously check college websites for their deadlines (Early Action is best if that's possible!) but other important dates to note are deadlines that your school or individual teachers might have. When I was in high school, my guidance counselor had a deadline for sending transcripts, and some teachers had cut-off dates for asking for a recommendation letter. Good luck!
