Actually, the LED's flash because they don't allow enough current through them to keep the SCR's on. The 1K resistors that you're adding provides additional current flow to keep the SCR on. Buy frankly, time is money when I'm adding LEDs to a customers pinball. So I find it more cost effective to get the 3 lamp board adaptors for $45 and fix the problem in 3 minutes.

I have the same question, what if you change your mind and want to put incandescents back in, do you need to take the resistor out of circuit? One critical thing you are doing here is soldering the cylindrical bulb holder to the body/tab that screws into the playfield and connects to ground. This is the connection that fails the most.

Would be inclined just to change the lamp holders for new than spend time cleaning the old ones, but that just me.

i'm just wondering what happens if someone changes from a LED to an incandescent in this socket? Does that still work? Will that change the brightness of the incandescent?

Great video! Did the corrosion return over a short time on the inside of the socket? Just wondering if roughing up the metal removes a surface coating?

Or you could just save yourself a $hitload of time and get a Alltec lamp driver board??? lol

That is way too much time! Spending the money on the LED driver board is the way to go.
