I don’t peel the onion. The most antioxidants are closest to the skin. I also add a vinegar or lemon to help bring out more nutrition from the bones. And for me…a large knob of ginger! Thanks! Love chicken soup!

I always soak the meat in cold water before cooking. This removes lots of blood. I descart the water and add fresh one before cooking the stock. It helps with defrosting too. Laura

Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into your videos. I do not follow gaps diet but like to do digestive resets. This was even perfect for the hot summer days. I heat the broth and then just pour it over the chicken and carrots out of the refrigerator. I will definitely add this to my rotation.

Hi Marissa, thank you for your great video! I will try this out for sure. I have two questions though. I live in a metropole and don’t have access to affordable high quality food, especially meat is highly overpriced and still often full of antibiotics the animals are being fed. Are all those toxins being cooked out? Also I am regularly using collagen powder, should I add that into the broth? Because for sure I won’t get any chicken heads or feet here where I live. Thank you so much!

If you are cooking for one or two, you can try using a Cornish hen. My primary care doctor (from Ukraine) gave me this: 1 Cornish hen, cut into halves, backbone removed; 1 large carrot, peeled and cut into 4-5 pieces; 1/2 onion, halved; or one leek, white part only, sliced, or a shallot or two; 1 stalk celery, cut into 4-5 pcs,; (I also add 1-2 garlic cloves, smashed; and a bit of ginger, peeled and sliced; S & P or substitute one chile de arbol for the pepper. Brown the chicken halves in a frypan in tallow or coconut oil (optional) and add to pot with sufficient water to cover; just put the backbone in the pot, raw. Bring to a boil, skimming scum; simmer till done, only about an hour. You can eat the veg or discard; eat the cooked chicken and drink the broth (after straining). I love soup, but soup in restaurants always make my feet swell.m, so that’s why my doctor game me this recipe. You would not expect how rich and tasty this quick broth is!

Hello! I am trying to start the Gaps diet to see if it helps with my sickness. I was first struggling with blood clots in my lungs and am on blood thinners since November last year. Then December last year I began getting Pots symptoms which they said was covid at one hospital and the next hospital said I was negative for covid so I’m not sure if I had covid or what triggered the pots. But now I’m currently also taking propranolol to help with my heart. I’m not sure how to start so this video is going to be very helpful. If you have any other tips tricks or advice I truly appreciate!❤

@bumblebeeapothecary Жыл бұрын
Great question! Dr. Natasha recommends full GAPS (not intro) while nursing, because intro can trigger a lot of detox and we don't want to expose baby to that. But full GAPS is a great way to nourish yourself and baby. Hope this helps!

Is GAPS a good idea to start during pregnancy? I had antibiotics about a month before getting pregnant (my 5th), and 2 months into the pregnancy I got a small patch of eczema- like rash on my face. Five months later, is has escalated to a full blown rash on my eyelids, around my nose and mouth. Combination of dry/scaly and red/welty. While slightly uncomfortable, I'm thankful it's not itchy - just very ugly! I'm at the crossroads between doing nothing and seeing if it resolves itself after baby comes or getting a jump start now (while I am not overwhelmed with a newborn) with making the big kind of diet changes that might fix the problem. I know Nourishing Traditions for Baby says to not do the GAPS diet during pregnancy or breastfeeding, but I wanted to get your opinion and see if there are at least a few changes I could make to see improvement. Thank you!

Wings, backs, necks, drumsticks, and thighs all work well. The marrow won't come out in that time, but you can break the bones to get it out. It's easier to get marrow out of larger bones.

Hi Marisa, love your videos! Do you know what amounts of glutamic acid are in meat stock? I read that too much of it impacts neurotransmitter activity in a bad way? Some even recommend cooking meat stock no longer than 45 min to avoid excess amounts of glutamic acid. What do you know about that?
