Hats off to you for sticking to it even during the most difficult times WITH LITTLES TO ALSO FEED! That’s something to truly celebrate.

I only did 3 months on gaps and the social aspect is the hardest thing that’s totally unexpected.

Thank you! We are on week 3 of doing the GAPS diet for my son because he has been having a lot of autoimmune reactions within the past year. It’s overwhelming but we can already see such a difference

How is he now ?
@StephanieGieseАй бұрын
@@EmilyLola-r2q We did full GAPS for 6 months and slowly transitioned him back. They recommend two years, but he's a teenager in school and I just don't have that much control over his diet at this age. It made a HUGE difference. His blood work got rid of all elevated inflammation markers, and he hasn't had any hives or needed to be hospitalized since we started the diet last year.

Great point about putting the quality of food first. Getting back to eating cleanly (as our elders did), is the single most valuable thing folks can do for their health. Your family will reap the benefits. Thank you for being so encouraging. Blessings…

I'm not doing gaps, but my son and I have been on a food lifestyle change myself for the last 6 months. I relate to most of what you said about the changes that have taken place, especially the mindset changes. It's been pretty amazing to see that I actually DO have the willpower to stick to diet changes. I would like to add that intermittent fasting has been a huge thing for me with these changes. I used to scoff at the idea and thought I could never do it because I've always struggled with hypoglycemia and not eating long periods of time would really mess me up. Well it turns out that eating sugars and grains is what messed me up. That's primarily what I cut from our diets and the changes have been amazing. But the intermittent fasting has played a massive role in weight loss (one of my biggest reasons for myself to diet) and it's also extremely healing for the body and gives the gut a chance to heal easier. I highly recommend researching and seeing if it will work for you. Also, making sure that every meal we eat consists of good protein, good nutrients/vitamins, and good fats is what keeps us full and allows me to very comfortably only eat twice a day, sometimes only once if the meal is nutritious enough. Snacking is the enemy in my mind and only boosts insulin levels which stores fat. ❤

Even before any updates I could tell a considerable difference, but also you had moved and had so many obstacles to get through and more. I could see a difference in your overall appearance, and then your weight loss. The benefits are obvious to your audience. I would imagine doing this together gives you strength too. Congrats

Thank you for putting this video out there, the negatives and positives to this diet are important to hear. I have been on a food journey for years and sometimes I felt alienated because I think it makes others feel bad when they order a fried chicken sandwich with fries and I have a salad, no one wants to feel bad about their choices. I think if more people talk about it then more people can have the strength to say no to the fried foods and yes to the salads and we will all have more options going out to eat😊

I have been following a number of homesteading families for a long time. One of them recently determined that even the “organic” food in stores like Whole Foods has about 35% of the nutritional value it’s supposed to because of depleted soil and handling issues among other things! As well, even the “organic” products are all using “Apeel” on all the produce without notice to make it last longer. You’ll have to educate yourself about it. There is a lot of info online. I had no idea. But I hold the opinion that no one is looking out for my health. That, added to learning that the FDA switched the rules about what kind of GMO things are required to be disclosed (quite awhile ago but I only recently found out) means (for this particular homesteading family) they have committed to even more stringent non-use of the grocery store, which they had previously hardly used. Their new motto going forward is “Grow what you eat and eat what you grow.” They are just now starting to source stuff they cannot grow and buying it directly from the grower. It’s also interesting to me that they are adopting the idea of eating in season which is how I tried to eat for years on a Macrobiotic diet: in season and indigenous food only. (A fabulous read about that is “Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life” by Barbara Kingsolver.) I’m not at all trying to stress anybody out - Although I feel pressured to figure something out for my family. We don’t grow much of our food but boy, do I envy those who do! At any rate, God is faithful to provide and can keep us safe in any situation. Thanks for your update!

I know how much better I felt when I just eliminated white sugar and white flour. Then … I ate sugar again. Now I am trying very hard to go back. I understand how sugar affects me but I have so much $$$$ stress and illness stress …just terrible arthritis and then double vision (age related) that has stopped me driving and isolated me (it isn’t related to diet). I know I have to go back, but the double vision is awful. I get the yo-yo diet thing! Just wait for menopause. I eat around 900 calories a day and CANNOT lose weight post menopause.

Just so you know, the grocery stores are keeping prices high even though inflation is lower than any other G7 country because their shareholders like the money. They are deciding to put shareholders first. There’s no reason for those high prices.
@kristinahathaway4348Ай бұрын
If you don't eat enough calories your body will hold on to those you do eat and your weight can actually increase or stay the same. At 900 calories a day you're starving yourself. So the weight might eventually decrease but you start eating more calories and your weight will increase because your body will hold on to every calorie it can.

You mentioned using honey, can you also do maple syrup? I have been working at cutting our cane sugar and have subbed maple syrup or maple sugar for a lot of things!
@thecarolinafarmhouse Жыл бұрын
I don't think you're allowed to have maple syrup because of the high fiber content which can irritate the gut lining.
