I had so much fun strolling around the greenhouses of Schwerter Orchideenzucht and filmed as many Phals as I could. Enjoy! :)

Hahaha. Not boring at all! You can see the double genetic influence from the 4n equestris. It’s taken over for shape and form...but the amabilis inflated the flower size. It’s super neat. I bet it’ll be a prolific bloomer for you.

First the colours of the flowers reminded me of the eighties and a couple of days ago I saw a sticker of a unicorn that had the exact same colours. It doesn't have many roots, but I'm positive it will recover. I hope it's free flowering as the equestris.

I enjoy the two plants that I bought with the voucher very much: The Phal is growing new roots (it only had a few inches of roots left) and the Coelogyne is growing actively as well. :) I'll try to make a habit of telling what is going to come up next. Excellent pick! I fell in love the second I saw it. Everyone seems to be into the big bellina looking phals, but I too love the delicate equestris types. And yes, more videos would be appreciated , dens cats and vandas!

Oh I just ADORE the species phals. I've starting adding a couple to my collection in the past year. We don't have very many primary hybrids around in Australia at the moment though, but hopefully as their popularity grows they will become more available. Loved your nursery tour (and very jealous!!)

I would love to visit Schwerter and see so many phals in bloom. It must be so wonderful to choose them when we can see the blooms. :) I didn't guess right what you bought. It was hard to guess, because so many are wonderful. I would have bought the Phal. KS. Super Zebra, but 50 euros is so much. I thought maybe you had bought that one at 7:31 with the very long name (Phal. Yaphon Green Canary x Ktc Khao Khitchakut). Looks so pretty! I love the video. These two were belong my favourites as well, especially the one with the very long name. :D It was a lovely plant. But I'm happy with the Phal. I've picked. It didn't have many roots (not their fault, I knew what I'd get), but it's already starting to push out new root tips. Frenchys plastic yellow did it for me, but the one you bought is superb also. It’s a good job I don’t live near Schweitzer, I would be in there every week. It’s not easy getting Species phals where I live, even labeled primaries would be welcome. Any time I see one I snap it up quick. I just wish you made a video every day, love watching your vids. I am making good use of the app too, it’s on both my iPads as well as my phone. I have 264 currently listed on it.

Interesting video....hard to pick especially since we couldn't smell what you were smelling. I'm partial to the 75 euro phal 😮 that burgundy and white flower was really lovely. I've never owned any of the scented phals until recently and what I have is probably a few years from blooming. I know they more than make up for the fewer flowers with their scents. Just not a good choice available here in Montreal. My spouse and I don't always like the same orchid flowers but we do agree on vandas, phrags and the strongly scented Brassavola types. Certainly, I'd like to see more videos on Vandas. But I'm interested in just about any orchid types. The terrestials are probably the least of my favorites but that's because I don't grow many.

It was "just" 50, but that's still quite a lot for a Phal. I agree it was really cute, though. I don't remember which scented Phal you have? I love the scent of corningiana, lueddemanniana and violacea. My Vandas aren't doing too much at the moment, there are a few roots and a couple of keikis growing, but no flower spikes even on my brownish one. Happy growing! :)

What an awesome video! Super high-quality as always. It is very interesting to hear you comment on each of the orchids. I guessed you would choose the one at 3'15-3'19 (Phal. Baguio?), but amablis x equestris is a nice choice, too. Is it fragrant, by the way? I guess not. I have to say you are such a self-disciplined person -- happy with only one of so many beautiful orchids! If I were you, I would be back home with 10 at least. :) This video comes just in time for me because I am considering placing an order from Schwerter (my last one of this year). Your video gives me so much inspiration. I have to stop quite a few times in the middle of the video to check out a few orchids on website of the nursery. :) Not all of them are available (yet) on the website, but I already have a few in my mind. Thank you so much! Of course, like everyone else, I'd love to see other genera of orchids in another video, especially Cattleyas and Vandas!

Thank you so much for your very kind and encouraging words, Jianjun! :) I think the one at 3:15-19 might be something like equestris x tetraspis, but it has silvery leaves, so there might be something else in it. P. amabilis x equestris isn't fragrant, unfortunately. As long as you have space for 10 more orchids everything is fine. :D My windowsill has always been quite crowded, though. If you saw one in the video and couldn't find it on their website you could try ordering via email. I've done that before and it worked very well. Which ones do you have in mind? Happy growing! :)

When you were showing it at first I thought what an usual shape , if it was me, i would pick tjis one (although I'm sure I wouldn't be satisfied with one) but I am so gld you chose that so we can follow its progress through your videos! hello new orchid grower here. Im very interested in the phal KS Super zebra. I have a phal sogo brother Sara gold at the moment. Is feeding the zebra at ~200ppm per week and caring for it the same as the Sara gold going to work? or does this variety require different care? love your page btw its really amazing 😮🙏

I really like this kind of video, but I do have to say that our tastes in Phals are quite different :D The P. equestris x amabilis hybrid was really cute and had a nice color on the lip, although I don't like P. equestris at all. I think I would have gone with P. Freinchy's Plastic Yellow.

Unfortunately I don't, maybe it didn't have a tag. It might be something like equestris x tetraspis, but the leaves appear to be silvery, so there might be something else in it with mottled leaves.

I actually visited schwerter two days ago! I saw many of the plants in the video and feels weird. My first time seeing an orchid nursery. I have to disagree about Double Eagle. Big issue is many breeders in Asia did this cross to then back gross to corningiana so they got tasty growing corningiana. To the point now it's very hard to come by pure good corningiana. And even those you smelled had corningiana scent, many times its the opposite and you get bad plastic from sumatrana, even in "corningiana"! I also hate bad tags! I actually lost a plant of the bellina coerulea 2 x violacea coerulea shiow yea but knowing many came pink makes me feel less bad. And back to the tags, I actually had a problem with a plant I got. The tag was incomplete and I got something different from what I expected :(

None. I didn't see many (if any...) Vandas in bloom. I was tempted by an extremely fragrant Cattleya hybrid, but the plant looked a bit unruly and rather weak.
