I honestly wish I knew about this 3 or 4 months ago. My budgie had bumblefoot, but I didn’t know that’s what it was at the time. We couldn’t really take him to the vet because it’s pretty expensive for my family. He sadly passed away in January 2019 with bumblefoot. But also because of that he wasn’t pooping properly, since his poop would always get stuck at his bum. I was away for 2 weeks before the new year and 3 days after I returned he was gone. At least I know now for future references, I honestly couldn’t find any info about this when I was trying to research about it.

If you can’t provide the vet care necessary, it’s better not to take on the responsibility. There are places like the SPCA which will give you vet care at a reduced cost. There really is no excuse for letting your bird die that way.
@PhoenixGirl12 жыл бұрын
@@spiralrose most family’s just can’t always provide a vet visit for their pets, but look for other ways to treat them, like home remedies. Which is what we were doing. We were trying a home remedy, basically applying ointment on his foot and trying to make sure he at least stands on flat smooth surfaces. That was as much as we could figure out what to do to help him. The SPCA you mention only allows insurance for cats and dogs in Canada. It’s very rude for you to assume I just let him die without doing anything. Me and my family did everything we could to make sure he would recover, it was unfortunately not enough and he is extremely missed. The last expression I saw on his face was a little bird smile, so I think he knew we were trying everything we could. I love my birds, and I do everything I could possible do for them, that’s within my knowledge of how to care for them and financially possible for me and my family.
@Trth17072 жыл бұрын
@@spiralrose please don’t doubt most people will deny themselves to provide for a pet, but circumstances change, job losses, a parent who won’t pay for vet visits,in my case it was a local vet that denied emergency care to my budgie because they were generalist and not avian.No avian vets in my area easily accessible.My budgie died,from lack of simple antibiotics I can’t buy over counter in Australia. Next time, just called an emergency and turned up, over $300, but saved budgies life.

Another very informative video; hoping Moonlight has a speedy recovery. It's been a year since I first got 4 budgies. In Sept 2018, one of the budgies had a very swollen foot, probably severe bumblefoot. Took the bird to the vet, he gave a quick examination and the vet recommended amputation; never explaining bumblefoot. I refused to have the bird's foot amputated and she passed away the next day. Got a budgie replacement shortly after and all have been doing well since, except for the extended molt (almost 3 months) now just about completed. Always good to see Jack Sparrow in the video. His blue color is vibrant and I know that is attributed to the great diet you provide your birds. I provide mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, sliced green beans, corn) but most seems to get dropped to the bottom of the cage. They devour celery leaves and spinach. I always provide Lafeber's Premium Daily Diet For Parakeets (rod shaped pellets, each about 3mm long by 1.5mm diameter) but only one budgie gives it any try. They feast on seeds. They get Wild Harvest Parakeet , Canary, Finch Daily Nutrition Blend "Orange Essence", but the main ingredient is white millet. There are small green and red pieces of something mixed in with the seeds but I doubt it is really nutritious. When I go to the pet store, I look at the selection of bird food. The packages have labels that say "premium", and contain a certain percentage of pellets, but when I look at the packages, they all look the same; I cannot determine any difference by the appearance and I question the validity of the labels. Could you recommend a couple of brands of budgie/parakeet bird food that have pellets and would be good nutrition.
@Loveofpets5 жыл бұрын
I have not used seed with pellets in it. I feed zupreem pellets in a separate bowl and then give seed in another bowl. They eat both. The seed is a Hagen brand, it's a plain seed with nothing else added.

Hi, it's best to take your bird to an avian vet to see what's going on as it can be many things such as a broken leg, foot or toe. It can be caused by a tumor in the body or it may be the foot pad.

Hi this question is Random but shall I brush my dogs teeth where his teeth are falling out for example my miniature poodle is five months old and his baby teeth are falling out should I still brushes teeth.

Wait until it heals as when the tooth falls out, the gums are sensitive. I would wait a few days or just brush softly.

Peroxide can sting and discolor the skin so it's not safe to use.
