Just aces Captain. This was by far the funniest thing you have ever done...i was waiting for the magic word...pen... I think its just great when you do your...tasks....take anything on...get stuff wrong then right...and add in long doses a rope going into a hole....its was so funny - as i could imagine you in there .. More!! Nice one!

Position it so the opening faces the stern,also let the mastic/sealant go off for a couple of days before tightening the bolts

Make sure the rode is longer then anywhere you anchor .if the chain runs away you won't have any stress on the bitter end fitting well done so far .the hause pipe is well taught out

Good advice! I have 70m of warp, hopefully won't need to anchor in anything deeper than that! 😂😂😂

Good one, but make an anchor snubber cos as soon as it gets to pulling the pipe will come right off.

I have a mixture of chain and warp, it will always be attached to the boat with the warp on the cleat 👍

Hi, again good job big man,get used to lying at anchor it takes time to grow confidence, I fitted a folding anchor on the chain,( it's called a daisy chain I believe) it was great, folded when not needed unfolded when I needed more grip, cheers John

Sorry I should have said, this was 3 meters behind the main anchor on the same chain, doubles the holding power

I know nothing really, but will having the doodad facing rearward not be a pain when setting the anchor?

Do you have a bung for the tube? I worried that it might let water in if the weather gets a bit bumpy….

It's a compromise due to the space at the bow and length of anchor shank. There's a method in the madness 😂
@Jonassson31247 ай бұрын
Hello, I don't understand the point of placing it backward. When I drop my anchor at the bow, I want the chain to run out freely by itself. Are you sure it should be placed backward? I follow your channel with great interest and hope you can go sailing soon. Best regards, J
@BumblingSailor7 ай бұрын
Hi, because of the small area at the bow the anchor shank is further aft than the chain pipe, so this was a compromise 👍
@JeroenSWart7 ай бұрын
yeah, maybe a backing plate. Just in case....

@ClanGunnBushcraft7 ай бұрын
No, it's the correct way for manually feeding the chain back in. You'd always want to wrap the chain around a samson post or cleat, so no strain on the fitting itself. I've lived on anchor for nearly 2 years now and mine is attached by 3 tiny bolts! No glue or backing plate! Its still solid!! ⚓
