Lovely shoes! 40 days ago I got the courage enough to pass through a percutaneous surgery to correct the bunion and it was the best decision I took, now I'm walking again with no pain at all. Don't live with pain ladies 🙏🏼

The thing about the splints is that they're correcting alignment that typically took years to develop. This means that for a time the pressure will be intense. However, the idea is to allow for gradual adjustment over time in which case the pain should subside as your alignment improves. Wear them for as long as you can tolerate each night (maybe only 15-20 at first) until eventually the pain goes away.

I agree. It only makes sense that since the misalignment took many years to gradually develop, it'll take time to re-align it too. I've also noticed bad habit I had that contributed to the problem that I've stopped. I used to use that area of my foot on my car's accelerator. Always. That's a lot of pressure for a lot of time. I don't do that anymore now.

I accidentally corrected my bunion on my right foot 15 years ago when I stepped out of the shower (a small tiled table fell on it and broke it). It was very painful at the time and it took two months before I could walk on it but it's perfect today. Now, if I could only muster the courage to do it again to my left foot :P

I have a high arch but have a bunion because I broke the toe joint. They said at the time of injury that it wasn’t broken, but it actually was. Of course, by the time I knew the truth, it would require surgery to fix. Too bad the medical office won’t “foot” the bill.

There’s a lot of medical research out there with evidence that bunions can improve over time. It’s a slow process but it requires foot strengthening exercises to improve the health of feet muscles and arches. Also, as feet get stronger with exercises,to one has to slowly transition from regular shoes into shoes with an anatomical toe box and that have no heel (zero drop). There are a lot barefoot shoes out there that meet that standard. Finally, with daily usage of toe correctors, and spending time barefoot, around the house will over time help correct bunions. I suggest going to a podiatrist that’s experienced with multiple treatment other than surgery. Surgery is not the only choice. Not all bunions have the same grade of severity. Barefoot strength is a good research based KZbin channel were anyone can get more info. I started my bunion health journey there and gain a lot of benefit from the information shared there.

My elderly mother fell in her room about a year ago. When I went to help her up, I thought she had broken her big toe because it was completely pointed across the second toe. I guess both her feet are like that. I remember as a kid she was always wearing narrow shoes because she claimed she has narrow feet. I think culture has caused many people to develop unnecessary foot problems. I have wide feet and have developed tailor bunions on both my feet because most brands of shoes aren’t wide enough… even the ones labeled as “wide width”. I’ve also lost a lot of muscle control in my toes…only able to bend all of them together vs independently. I now use silicone toe spacers every day and do more foot and toe stretches and exercises. I’ve added toe socks and just ordered a barefoot shoe. Even if I can’t fix the tailor bunions I have, I at least want to keep them from getting worse.

I tried the splint and like you it was too painful. I tried the yoga toes, but they don't fit in shoes. It's really only useful walking about and doing yoga. I tried the single spacer but not with the sleeve and I found it moved around too much. Here's what I've done: I've given up pretty shoes and switched to barefoot, zero-drop, normal toe splay toe boxes and I'm wearing Correct Toes. (I've found a few cute shoes but nothing elegant and so if you want to start making elegant barefoot shoes there's definitely a hungry market.) Gone is the pain from the Morton's neuromas and also the pain from a new bunion that was forming. I had a tiny bend in the toe (as a 64 year old) and ended up wearing a pair of comfortable shoes (two different colours) all day for about 5 months and didn't know I was creating a problem until I changed over to my winter shoes and suddenly was in a lot of pain in the bunion area of my left foot. The comfortable shoes hugged my feet AND bent my toe further creating a bunion unbeknownst to me. Haven't straightened the bunion with the Correct Toes yet, but it keeps the toe straighter in my new, wider toe box shoes. With time it might straighten more and be straighter on it's own. If not, I'll just keep wearing the Correct Toes because this is the first time I've been without Morton's neuroma pain in 8 years (got relief from that immediately).

Tried everything in your video, with the same results as yourself! Our stories are very similar, hated my bunions as a teen. My shoes were always correctly fitted (my Mum being in the shoe trade) so badly fitting shoes were not a cause and it seem that the joint, especially on the left foot was enlarged from birth and age 6 having the school nurse tell Mum that her daughters foot was deformed led to a lifetime of hiding my feet. Fast forward many years and aching feet, I worked in a hospital and the podiatrist there advised me against bunion surgery as in his opinion there were very few good outcomes.

I've got very slight bunions. I've had them for over 40 years and I'm sure they're stable because I habitually go barefoot whenever I can, and only wear shoes for as short a time as possible. I started going barefoot while I was still a student at university. I've recently been looking into bunion causes, and all the foot doctors agree that the cause isn't the big toe moving inwards, but rather the metatarsal bone (inside the foot) moving outwards. So I don't see how any product is going to work if it only works on the toes. I suspect a product needs to put pressure on the metatarsal to direct it inwards. There is a video showing a taping with kinesiology tape which works this effect, but I haven't seen anything else. Do you know of any products which put pressure on the metatarsal to bring it back into alignment?

This was relatively non-informative. Your feet are seriously deformed from forcing them into pointy shoes. 3 nights wont solve the problem. Its taken me 4 months to straighten claw toes I've had 40 years. You have to stop wearing awful conventional shoes that deform the feet, then put daily effort into stretching tendons and soft tissues that have been set into an unnatural position. It takes many years to create these deformities. For me 4 months of daily exercises, stretches and going barefoot as much as possible was well worth regaining healthy feet.

This is incorrect. My mother, grandmother, aunt and daughter’s feet all look like this. It is a congenital deformity cause by inappropriately loose ligaments. My daughter began showing signs at three. Only surgery can correct congenital bunions but it is not a permanent fix. A doctor told us that even with surgery and good shoes, the feet will revert back and the severe bunions will return in about ten years. We are just looking for something to help. Bunions are not only due to a person’s “forcing them into pointy shoes,” so just stop with the judgement.

@@carolheyen7249 I'm judging someone who is 'testing' devices, albeit poorly. If there is 'congenital bunions' and only surgery will fix it, as you say, that has little to do with this video or massive majority of people out there whose high heels, and bad shoes caused them. That's according to every article I've read, every video and my podiatrist. When you ask about bunions, you're told to change your shoes after surgery or it will happen again.

@@domostroy33 totally agree with you, but actually in extremely rare cases severe thyroid dysfunction can cause bunions in young children. I know this because I've had bunions since I was around 5. I'm only 24 now and I'm transitioning into barefoot shoes and toe spacers because I can no longer exercise or walk very far. I never wear heels (less than 1-2 times a year, it's agony for me so it's only for weddings or scenarios where I have to) and I've always worn relatively wide shoes because my bunion means that I can't fit my feet into narrow shoes! While I understand cases like mine are an extreme minority, and it's much much more likely that most of the bunion population are such due to wearing incorrect shoes - which people misinterpret as just "pointy high heels" but in reality EVERY conventional shoe is incorrect for our feet. That's what a lot of people miss.
@jt2284
@jt2284 2 жыл бұрын
@@carolheyen7249 as someone who's had bunions since I was 5, I'm actually inclined to disagree with you. There is massive medical negligence when it comes to the studying of bunions. Up until 10 years ago, bunion surgery consisted of simply shaving down the bunion as far as possible, because it was understood to be just a bone growth. Since then we realised that it's the joint falling out of place and growing bone ontop to protect the joint. Until even 5 years ago, the surgery for that consisted of a 4-5 inch long incision where they would inevitably severe some nerve endings in the feet, fusing the joint in place with metal, and hoping for the best. More often than not, people undergoing this surgery were left with severe nerve damage and some have been left unable to walk due to the surgeries. At best, left with numbness in the feet. All people would be unable to walk for 2 months on the affected foot unless in a boot, some even 6 months. Now we have keyhole surgery which is much easier to recover from and reduces many of the risks associated with the surgery. It is still hit and miss whether the joint will be permanently fixed, but patients are encouraged to walk straight away after the surgery and are not given boots to wear. So the chances of success are higher. HOWEVER, the root cause of bunions are due to shoes. It's not the typical "pointy stiletto" that you're thinking of. It's every single shoe you can buy on the market. Every show, even extra wide, are curved inwards at the toes. They should be completely squared off with no inward curve. So no matter what shoe you buy, it will be considered inappropriate. If you get surgery, then keep wearing conventional shoes, then they'll obviously keep coming back because you're predisposed to the joint falling out. But that doesn't mean that you're stuck with bunions and the disability that comes with them forever. As for me, I'd resigned myself to "just having bunions forever" because I've always had them and it must be my genetics. I'm not going to go for surgery, or insoles that will only collapse my arches further, instead I'm trying barefoot shoes and toe spacers along with exercises for my feet. There are a few pilot studies available to find about how on average you will see a 2.5 degree reduction of moderate bunions within 3 months of wearing barefoot shoes and toe spacers. I highly recommend checking it out. I think we should take drs advice when appropriate, as always, but also never to just resign yourself to one person's opinion when science is changing and medicine isn't always 100% as that's always changing too.

Surgery is the only way to fix bunions and sometimes, but not always, they come back after surgery.

@@ShanniBananni Incorrect. You only need surgery for the most severe cases. Usually not just crooked toe, but deformed as well.

The only way to correct bunions iis surgery. Ma Mom and my aunt did it. now they don’t feel pain anymore and their feet are looking good. This surgery is common in Italy, and it’s free, it’s on health system.

That sounds wonderful! Unfortunately I live in the USA and this country doesn't believe in national or even affordable health care.

@@DulaPearl I know. US health care is a shame. We had 2 open heart operation in my family, 1 brain surgery, 2 difficult spine surgery, the last operation had been a heart stenth for my dad. They also sent support health care at home. All for free. Thank God we don't live in US, we would had been bankrupt.

The bunion surgery has more than a 50 percent reoccurrence rate in 10 years, and with it taking 6 months to heal, that's something that conservative doctors use when nothing else brings pain relief.

@@toomanymarys7355 I disagree. That was ages ago. Now bunion surgery is on another level. My mom and aunt (and other two neighbors) didi it 10/15 years ago. They still feel good and I remember it took around 3 month to recover. Only the first month has been hard. We have good clinics here in Milano.

Its also free in Canada, since its not life-threatening, there is a 2 year wait list for the surgery.

Hi! Please, check out info about barefoot shoes, minimalist shoes. Those seperators you showed just fights endless fight, you need chop off the root of the problem. And that is shoes, yes, all your fancy lookin shoes! Throw them all away, move to using only barefoot shoes. Use them in combination with those spreaders, walk compleatly barefoot as much as you can! And you'll se the results. Much love, take care..

I've worked from home - BAREFOOT - for 30 years...and STILL developed bunions. Go figure!
@kristapsl9

@@karinyaboriskova441 I think it depends on multiple factors also genetics! Also feet should work, it means going for miles barefoot and excersise thooae feet, streching, pumping muscles by going upstairs or going rocky trails and offroad. By beeing just barefoot at home makes less peogress than active lifestyle. My friend all life is barefoot at home, never use slippers. But he developed bunions too. 2 years ago he founded out about barefoot shoes, and he is doing full barefoot long walks on the beach and forest. When terrain too extreme for naked feet using barefoot shoes. So his feet are in better shape like before. Cases and people are different, but could be worth trying and experiment and find that suits you best! Much love..

Hello there! I am sorry but I did not find your video helpful. I personally think that you should have waited for SOME results, before making the video. Just because you had some pains, which I am sure the pains were excruciating!! I personally think you could have massaged the pain away, or use a hot water bottle, or cool pads, dipping the feet in ice cold water etc. What ever methods which could have helped to stop the pains! And with patience, and building - up the time you put them on would have helped!! Instead of starting e.g. the whole 8 hrs at night!!!! As I started to do simple excercises, from other videos, which I personally found more helpfulI than yours, I had some pains on the top of my foot, and had to massage them away and the cramps in the middle of the night!! I then started with a bunch of 5x an exercise, then an opposite movement too. I did NOT start doing any methods 20x at first! Indulging in a warm foot bath at first, massaging them, then, perhaps using the instruments AFTER some excercises MIGHT have been better. After all the gagets COST MONEY ! They are NOT CHEAP! And honestly I would, before I spend money on something like that; I would try excercises, and massages. All tips are FOR FREE and in abundance in the internet! I hope you do take try my recommendations. All the Best.m
