A Physio taught me a very simple exercise to correct the bent toe. It absolutely fixed my emerging bunion. You just flex the big toe SIDEWAYS ( out towards the other foot) repeatedly. I bet you can not do it initially, I had to move it with my hand until the brain remembered how to use that muscle. I do it for a few minutes every now and then in front of the TV, it strengthens the muscle that holds the toe straight. 🇦🇺 I wish I could attach a photo of my now nice straight big toes with no bunions.

Standing heels and toes together and pressing the two big toes together at the medial sides of the toes at the nail area also alligned the muscles impacted by the lateral collapse from shoe box pressure. Loss of strength in that direction has a massive effect within the musculature of the feet and medial thigh and pelvic diaphram and abdominals, psoas.

The likelihood of more than one problem with your foot is great and you may be in the process of developing other problems like I found out, after finally getting to see my podiatrist. So Google offers suggestions which I love. And my new Podiatrist was GREAT! Instantly hit it off. Many doctors are offended if you come in and know what your foot problem could be. My doc was very glad I was thinking and taking all the right vitamins and wanting to be able to continue walking. I came in wearing Hoka Athletic shoes and everyone was wowed that I had made the right choice! I looked up who sold the kind of shoes for my 2nd Metatarsal Capsulitis problem. I came with my x-rays and he was thrilled as I made them zoomable on my iPad. He even noticed I had had a healed fractured of 5th metatarsal from when I was a teenager! He was able to tell me why I was having pain and that my big toe was part of the problem and what to do about it. It isn’t a bunion, thank goodness. He’s trying to be a vegan. I’ve been eating this way for 10+ years so he was glad to hear my reasons for going vegan and glad to see a 71 year old lady who is at goal weight. The skin on my feet are also very healthy, and overall my health is excellent. Becoming vegan got me out of a wheelchair with gouty arthritis and being able to walk to me is a precious thing. I‘ve lost 80 lbs. from when I started. The number one person who can take the best care of our health is the patient themselves. Those who come in having learned about their foot can also understand which bones the doctor is talking about. But that is true of all parts of our health. If we eat the diet human beings were meant to eat, we have the best chance at staying healthy, even into our senior years. I love learning about how to heal and how to stay well. I was already taking the right supplements, pain killers and meds. The rest I do with my diet. I am on the road to putting my pain behind me. Feel good enough to take me and my new shoes on a walk! Went out and walked 1-1/2 today. Each day now add a few more blocks until I can walk the miles I like walking.

Truth Be Told, we really hope that you feel better and thanks for watching our video! In general, treatment of bunionettes is almost always non-surgical. The most basic are changing shoes, especially to shoes that are wider at the toes or wearing sandals. Wider shoes can alleviate the discomfort of bunionnettes. Pads are also available to ease the pain. We're sorry to hear about your problem and we really hope you feel better soon! Learning to walk correctly and using k2 to get rid of the calcium in the area allowed it to dissolve and within a couple of weeks I felt my boot was big in the area where the bunion had been. I don’t over pronate, I over supinate and my hips externally rotate…..but yet I have a bunion that started in childhood on my left and now also have one on my right…..I also have extremely high arches. Must have been high heeled shoes for years.

I’m hyper mobile and can bend my big toe back no matter what angle my food and knee are. Granted, it bends less when I over pronate, but still bends. I have bunions but they don’t bother me (yet)

When my knee is in and my foot is out like you did it, I can bend my toe up. Why?
@dtraveler3080 Жыл бұрын
I have read comments saying someone had bunion surgery and now not only can’t they keep their toe down, but their gait is off and they cannot balance on that foot.🤷🏻♂️

My feet do not pronate at all. And my leg muscles are very developed due to the fact that I was a competitive speed skater as a kid. I have a very small bunion on my left big toe. I use spacers every day. It helps the pain. But I’d like to correct it completely.

Not much mention of genetics. My two sisters and I have bad bunions on the left foot only. My grandmother's feet were totally deformed with it. I have also not heard of any man with bunions. Is it a female thing?
@tylerbeck3806 Жыл бұрын
Could you address the concept of the barefoot shoe? They constantly talk about how this strengthens the muscles of the feet and allows the toes to splay. But over pronation would lead to this exact issue. Also do you think glute med weakness contributes here?
@DrTomBiernacki Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, I will have a video out soon regarding the topic. Barefoot shoes can be really good if you are already healthy, or if you have joint, knee or hip issues. But with people with already flat feet, painful feet, or people who want faster athletic performance they are not the ideal shoe. I share more in depth soon!

I have 2 daughters both with bad bunions from the youngest age.....as children...now theyre older teens (they call them triangle feet). Funny thing is my oldest daughter is the one that literally walks pronated. They younger 2 do not. What would cause this in children accustomed to wearing good shoes unless its sometimes genetically unavoidable. And i know surgery is not so recommended bec doesnt always work and doesn't last.....but these bunions arent from history if bad shoes and aging of the foot. Im talking about like a 10 yr old with 'triangle feet'. Any recommendations?
@CS-zp3to Жыл бұрын
I don't have any recommendations, but just wanted to say that I was born with bunions, and I do think it can be genetic. I'm a runner and know I don't over pronate, however my child has always over pronated and even as an adult does not have bunions.

Something about these products being bulky and all that. Isn't the pain and the disability that comes with it later on also bulky!!? I would wear these for as long as I can during the day. Ok if I am going to a really classy meeting or whatever maybe change but for casual daily life, the periodic discomfort is way worth it compared to the prolonged destruction of bones and cartilage textures.

To fix bunions, first stop wearing tight shoes. Then a few times a day stretch your big toe outward. I had a bunion on one foot from wearing tight cleats and did this and now I don't have one.

T Dog Mom, thanks for the great response! Barefoot shoes are in general great for feet and knees, however they should come from reputable compony. Avoid chip fakes imitating reputable brands.
