I’m a 58 year old man who recently started experiencing acute pain in this area of my left foot. I am also an endurance athlete. This video was a big help. I’ve got an upcoming appointment with a specialist.

I realized this year I have wide feet and have been wearing the wrong shoes my whole life. I’m 23. My pinky toe sits under my other toe. I have bunionettes and I have a funny walk. I have an unconscious habit of standing on the outside of my feet as well. It’s really annoying being a woman with wide feet it REALLY limits my style and shoe options. But my feet don’t look good in open shoes anyway.

I can attest that age is no obstacle! I am 60 and was diagnosed with plantar fascitis and heal spurs. Noticed that I tend toward pronation and realized that I was pronating due to pressure from small bunionettes. I tried cushioned shoes with arch supports but this only made it more painful to walk barefoot. A few months ago I resumed daily yoga, and I have been doing foot exercises like those shown in the video plus other exercises to strengthen my arch. I can now walk barefoot again with no pain and have ordered barefoot shoes so I can enjoy the same when not at home.

4 and a half years ago i started working overnight and had no money for new shoes and had to wear these Vans that were too small for me. On top of being too small, i was wearing them for 9 more hours when my feet were supposed to be resting. It was excruciatingly painful when i started getting bunions. The cramps in the metatarsals would almost make me cry. I started buying wide toed shoes (also trying to cut down on flip flops. Those are terrible for us) and they feel better but now I'm starting to get tailors bunions. It may be from trying to put less pressure on my big toe. I feel like my feet are giving up on me.

My bunionette is 1/2 way between my pinky toe and my heal, in the middle and on the side, of my right foot. A chiropractor once told me it was caused from straining/bearing down due to Crohnes disease. Do you know of a foot exercise or treatment that would help shrink it down?

What if the bungionette is coming from having flat feet? Are Vivos still a good idea?
@docjenfit
@docjenfit Жыл бұрын
So this still can often mean that we could afford to do some active strengthening of our mid foot and toes because even with structurally flat feet, we can still increase the strength and support of our intrinsic foot muscles. I would really consider trying Vivo's because they show to increase foot strength by up to 70% after 6 months of wearing them!

I’m always spreading my toes either with my fingers, socks, or toe spacers. I ALWAYS wear toe spacers when I have shoes on. My toes ACHE when I’m not spreadIng them. I still have a tailors bunion. Any reason why this could be happening?

I am barefoot a lot of the time, and never wear constrictive shoes. However, my pinky toes are turning on it's side, and I'm getting a taylor's bunion. The foot doctor I went to said it's because I'm barefoot too much. Do you think this is true?
@yeoldegrayCat
@yeoldegrayCat 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think that's true...thight shoes are a big culprit of why bunions happen. It can be because your hips/hamstrings/calves/arch are tight, make sure to stretch/massage them with a roller. Look for video routines here on youtube. One way to tell tightness is part of the problem is by seeing if your feet pronate. They're related and those muscles/tendons being tight(i believe they also shorten if not stretched) can cause the bones to shift to that outward position. I look for leg/feet yoga routines to help stretch. Also strengthening exercises like these can help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/roW4no2ZrcuSqqs

A lot depends on if you are used to being barefoot. Honestly, this could be pretty aggressive for most people. So transitioning slowly and working on foot and ankle exercises prior to doing any heavy running barefoot would be best for most people
