I grew up in Springfield, Il. If your Bunn coffee maker started leaking you could take it to the Bunn plant and get it rebuilt. The Bunn family also had Bunn Capitol wholesale grocery, and the Springfield Marine bank. In the winter I used to ice skate on the pond in Bunn Park.

I own a Bunn Thermofresh brewer. Since I rarely keep undrunk coffee, I now use a glass measuring container (such as one by Pyrex) to catch the brew rather than the thermal carafe that came with the machine. I know when the brew cycle is finished, and, I believe it is easier and faster to clean the glass container.

Great review and I've been a Bunn coffee fan forever. I drifted off and tried a Cuisanart coffeemaker and hated it and ended up it away. You can't beat the taste of coffee when it's expressed brewed vs spitting a little water out at a time like all the other coffee makers. You forgot to mention the auto turn off of the warming plate that turns off automatically after 2 hours. This can turned on again by pressing holding the button if you wish more time to keep the burner on. This feature alone is worth getting the Heat N Brew. I can't tell you how many times I've left the house and come back home and have left the burner on. The other thing about cooking the water all day is there will be a cup a day of evaporation. So you put 10 cups of water in a the displaced water from the last pour will be 9. My wife always asks if I have taken a cup of coffee and I explain that's due to the evaporation. OK I'll stop typing because I'm currently over caffeinated! David

Interesting device you got there Randy, however I am very much and pause and serve type person when I am brewing . ( coffee in less that 2 minutes ) I do want to say that the speed brew would be great for households that go through a lot of coffee. I drink coffee ( mostly decalf ) all day , but as soon as I brew it, it goes into a thermos and stays fairly fresh tasting at least for about 4 to 6 hours. Thanks for taking the time to post.

One thing you didn't mention which I think it was worth noting is that when this coffee maker gets scale, you can remove 2 screws on top and pull off the whole top and clean the inside, rather quickly with vinegar, and you can also replace the water flow valve where the water is released, you can also clean out the scale from there and you're back in business. It's probably one of the easiest auto coffee makers ever to clean. No pipes, no places for gunk to get into, a simple solenoid valve and that sit. It's basically an electric kettle with an auto-valve to open when it hits 200F.

There are definitely places that hard water build up . The tank is the trickiest. I’ve had to pull mine completely apart . The tubes get full of scale from hard water and the tank only has 3 small holes for the pipes and it get filled with scale you have to pulled the tank completely out disassemble the machine and smack the sides of the tank to break it free . Or you can drop a marble in there and shake it around to break it up quicker

My limited experience tells me mass produced unadjustable 200 degree thermostats are not all that precise. I tested mine. It heats to 194 degrees internally. I figure it's close enough. We have a also have a older Bunn model A10 which was more expensive but has a internal thermostat that's adjustable. The A10 is waiting for parts at the moment.

More than a taste difference I noticed a big difference in the "smoothness" of my coffee. Wasn't sure if you're saying you get out more water or less water than you put in? The tank system isn't exact. The water you put in is just going into a tank and usually offsetting about the same amount. It's just gravity and siphoning action. It is possible that sometimes a bit more is siphoned out. Of course, the opposite also happens if you let the unit sit unused a few days. Since the water is constantly hot, it is also evaporating. If you put in water a week later, you will get out much less water because some of it had to replace what evaporated. If I didn't use mine for a few days I'd run a pitcher of water through it to keep it full and freshen up the water. I didn't usually turn it off unless I was going to be gone a few days.
@bluepen61
@bluepen61 2 жыл бұрын
1. Try 8 cups instead of 6. If I remember, some older Bunn require more water per brew. 2. Try cleaning it once and use the cleaning spring. 3. Do you brew coffee every day? Bunn work best when used every day. Skip a day or two and some water will have evaporated out of the reservoir and you get inconsistent brewing amounts. An alternative would be to pour a pot of water through the maker on days that you do not brew coffee. I hope this helps.

I have a hard time believing that something is wrong with it being that it is a bunn but they’ve offered me a discount to order a new one.... I am interested in the heat and brew, like you would be nice to program it but still have the same taste as the classic Brewers! Only thing is this one looks pretty tall do you have to scoot it out every time you pour water into it? Otherwise I can’t see it clearing the upper cabinet with enough space to be able to leave it in one spot and also pour water in from the carafe? Your cabinets look about as tall as mine in the barn I have now I have to scoot out just to pour water in

@@MC1RPOSITIVESusieQ The old units in the 90's and early 2000's used to come with a separate water pitcher to fill it. But that's them not you.
@rodhoutx
@rodhoutx 2 жыл бұрын
@@randyw.8781 We used to have the old version of this brewer back in the day (90's). The manual mentioned another spray head for "decaf" coffee that would let the water run through slower. Later on their website they also mentioned it.. it was free. Don't know if they still offer it, but they probably do. I got one and it did make the water come out slower. If you've done manual pour over coffee, you'll notice that coffee grind size makes a big difference in how fast the water flows through. Premium coffees also typically use twice the amount of grounds than Folgers or Maxwell house. Folgers only calls for 1 Tbsp for 12 oz, whereas pretty much anything else is 2 Tbsp for 6 oz. The original unit we had also had the same size basket, but smaller carafe. It also came with a pitcher that only held about 40 ounces or so (there wasn't a special door switch yet, so you had to keep the carafe on the burner and use the pitcher to fill it). I have a different brewer these days, but it is still a faster one (SCAA approved) and when I use Seattle's best, Community, etc., it ALMOST overflows because there's much more coffee compared to when I use Folgers.

Speed brew 👌 simple fast
@ghostrecon3214
@ghostrecon3214 2 жыл бұрын
I just went and bough the Fast Brew Select, there are a few notable downsides in my opinion (based on first brew) 1. The flavor seems weaker than what I am used to - but maybe I didnt wait long enough for the initial fill to heat up so I will update as I use it more. 2. When you have a full 10cups in the carafe, i still get some water spillage for the first second, then its good from there on out 3. My tumbler holds about 3 cups, but the minimum brew is 4 so if I want a single serving, i have to waste a bit 4. My old Mr Coffee had a spring mechanism with the basket so when you pull the carafe out, coffee cannot keep dripping, with this you have to wait for it to stop dripping completely or you will drip on your heat pad. 5. Only brews 10cups Those would be my initial gripes. The good though 1. Designed and built in the USA 2. Starts pouring coffee extraordinarily quickly due to the heated reservoir 3. Looks great 4. Besides the initial spillage which may be user error (pouring too fast maybe?) it doesn't drip after that 5. Besides only brewing 10 cups, it isn't so bad since it start brewing instantly, it is better to brew only as much as you need so you have fresh as opposed to burned coffee if you are a slow drinker like me
@rirons0625
@rirons0625 2 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on your new Bunn, lots of good thought here! It is possible that the water wasn't fully heated, that would definately account for the weaker brew. Bunn will recommend 15 minutes after turning it on to heat the water to temperature. I could always hear the "rumbling" of the water getting hot, then stopping when the heating element would turn off letting me know that the water was hot. Pouring too fast will certainly cause dripping/spilling, as will not keeping the carafe level side to side. With the difference in brewing being a flooding rather than dripping, the Bunn cannot have the "steal a cup" feature of Mr. Coffee as the basket would likely overflow before you were able to pour a cup and return the carafe to the coffeemaker. Once you are used to the nuances and differences of your new Bunn vs. a drip coffeemaker, I'm sure you will appreciate it. Enjoy!

I've been using that revised dumb carafe since 2014 or 2015... and it's awful. I had the old carafe for about 5-6 years, but eventually it broke during an accident. The capillary effect of water and pre dripped water on the side of the carafe will cause more spilling events than without that 'innovation'. I actually apply pressure to the lid so that that water and coffee just pours off the spout. I have significantly less spills without that updated carafe lid than when using it.
