Favorite coffee maker. I actually got mine from my dad, he passed 2 years ago at 53 and my mom gave it to me. He'd had it a year and loved it. I think 4 months after I got it the hot plate button quiet working. I contacted Bunn that it was my dad's but I had the receipt and didn't know if they could fix it. They sent me a brand new one (was sad I had to send his back) but what a wonderful company to replace it for free for me. Only thing I had to do was return it and they paid for that!!! I was able to keep the carafe from his and get a new one so I have an extra. Never had any issues with it other than the hot plate button. No spills, fresh hot coffee every day! We use it twice a day. My husband leaves at 430am with his coffee and I make mine at 6am when I get the kids up!!!

I feel like this is a “dad thing”. My dad also just bought one for me. I am fixing to use it for the first time. My dad has used nothing but a Bunn his whole life. My grandmother had one for 13 or so years from what he could remember and he was still using that same one after she passed away. He bought this one several years ago and only had one issue. But he registered it when he bought it and when that problem happened, he contacted them and they sent him a brand new coffee maker and it’s been going strong since! They stand behind their products which is a major thing with my dad (he is a retired Air Force veteran of over 20 years). So when I seen how quickly his brews, I was mind blown! I got a call from him 2 days after that family dinner and he informed me that he ordered one for me and that it would be here this past Monday. Lucky girl I am!! Can’t wait to use this lol

For sure, I have so many memories of small town coffee shops going into them with my dad in the 80's and always seeing and smelling bun coffee makers. Those glass carafes with the orange and brown, and black handles, and almost everyone drank black coffee. Lots of memories for sure!!!!!!!!

Best drip coffee maker out there. It's the coffee maker that that hides under Keurig's bed keeping it awake at night ... it's no contest. Beauty in simplicity. Tip - get yourself one of those 1 gallon PUR water dispensers that fits on the fridge shelf and you're good to go ... clean cold water is half the battle when making coffee. I could have bought at least 4 of these things with all of the $$$ I spent on cheaper coffee makers over the years. 4 minutes for a pot of hot fresh coffee .... if that's not fast enough for you, go to bed 4 minute earlier ...

Great review here.I have the same bunn brewer. Been going strong now for 5 years no problems. One little tip for better coffee is call Bunn and request for the slowest sprayhead. I actually ordered a bunn commercial stainless steel sprayhead(I'm picky like that) They actually fit but they will technically void your warranty I'm reading. Bunn support is very hesitant to mix any home/commercial parts interchangeably. Now I understand. On another note, If you take a napkin and place it right under the brew basket after its done you will avoid letting any coffee drip onto the hot plate and burning. Also you can get a good idea as to where exactly the carafe should sit on the hot plate(for even heating) by looking up close when the brew basket is attached to the brewer. It should line up basically. You'll see what I mean. I actually wait for the coffee to stop brewing before I turn the warmer on-accounting for how hot it brews which is at the right temp for good coffee extraction. Hope this helps!

Edit: I take the brew basket out first(after brew cycle)by putting a napkin under the brew funnel and removing it to avoid any coffee spills on the hot plate.

I've been using my standard black and decker drip maker for just over a year and I've been pretty happy with it as I think it's a decent tasting coffee maker. However, my in laws recently got a Bunn and I did a side by side taste test, black coffee only, no cream or sweeteners, and I have to say the Bunn did have a better taste which I was a tad bummed cuz I figured a Bunn machine was just all hype and wanted to prove them wrong. So I think I'm gonna splurge a little and grab one. But ill keep the B & D as I think it's still a decent coffee maker for $30 on Amazon.

Just A Dad I really enjoy your reviews! I was wondering if you were planning on reviewing the Bunn "Heat-N-Brew" programmable coffee maker? Like all Bunns it brings the water up to the proper temperature before brewing starts. But this model has the added features of a timer to automatically start the brewing process at a selected time and a two hour warming plate shutoff. Thank you!

@@JustADad No it is not discontinued. You can find it for sale on Amazon or Walmart's website. And probably other websites. If you go to Bunn's website it will be listed as out of stock. The only Bunn coffee maker I have seen for sale in a store recently is the "Speed Brew Select" model. Which you reviewed. I am thinking that is less expensive Bunn model only sold at Walmart. At least I haven't seen it for sale at any other stores or websites. Except for Bunn's.

I find that hard to believe, why are you exaggerating? , the BUNN was a complete disappointment for me, I was so excited to be getting a Bunn and then it arrived and is just a piece of crap right out of the box. Smelled terrible, poor build quality and mine never made coffee. I set it up exactly per the instructions and nothing, I watched the Bunn video and repeated the process and nothing. I have read this complaint more than once ", you just never can be sure how long it will take "The Bunn makes coffee in 4 to 40 minutes" The Mr coffee I bought took 7 minutes from fill to a hot cup of coffee. for 1/5 the price

Oh wait if you use fine grind coffee you can call Bunn and they with send you a different spray head for free that is special for fine grind. The reason is because if you make a full pot it can over flow

So you should have the back filled all the way up before hand or how much is supposed to be in the back to begin with

Yes it has a water tank in the back that you keep full and it has a heater in it that keeps the water hot at all times. That is why it is so fast when you pour your water in it replaces the hot water and the hot water brews your coffee right away. It is a little more setup and you have to remember to keep the Vacation switch in the back on at all times unless you are not going to brew coffee in a week, because it will boil all the water out of the tank and it will cause the heating element to fail.

Dumb question and not sure you'll see this a year later...how's the steam on this? Because of the speed and quietness does that means there will be minimal steam? I need to replace because ours is loud, takes forever and gets steam all over!!!

Do you live in a a High elevation like Denver? Bunn will send you a new brew head if you live in a high elevation. that might be why you are getting so much steam. Mine I get just a normal amount of steam. The flow out of the brew nozzle is very consistent and quiet. The only noise I get is when it is heating the water up in the tank it kind of sounds like boiling water for a bit. see my video on why you should descale it kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmXWpXakZ69qaas that might be why it is so noisy. First water will come out the brew head when the reservoir is full. Second it takes about 20 min for the tank in the back to get to the proper temperature.

when we run out of filters on our commercial Bunn at work, we line the basket with towel paper from the bathroom.. Seems to work fine. How we prevent the drip when removing the pot is to slid a cup over as your removed the carafe.

I've used non bunn filters without too much issue. If you put too many grounds in you can have them overflow into the carafe but we are talking way too many grounds for any sane person.

What ever amount of water you put in is the amount it brews. the min is 4 cups so anywhere from 4 cups to 10 cups works great

Not that I know of. Have you called Bunn, they have great customer service. If you live in a high Elevation like Denver they will give you a different brew head to put. Make sure your brew head is installed above your filter basket. Thanks. I tried again today and had the same thing, over flow mess, grinds in the coffee pot. I did see your cleaning video thanks for the response. I’m going to check and make sure everything is correct. It seems to me that the machine fills too quickly with water and it over flows over the filter. 3 outta the first 4 pots I’ve brewed this has unfortunately happened. I want to like this coffee pot but if I can only make 6 cups at a time to avoid over flow then that’s a deal breaker.

The switch on the back left hand side. Make sure it is pointed toward the back or the line is down on the switch. This switch turns the heating element on the inside on. You are suppose to leave this switch on unless you are going on vacation then you turn it off

make sure it is setup properly. You have to fill the tank in the back of the coffee maker before you use it. This is only a 10 cup coffee maker so make sure you are filling the carafe all the way and filling it up.

no it can just stay on all the time thats the whole point of it, it keeps water hot inside all the time. perfectly safe and these have been around for a very long mite!. what he was saying about turning off is that you need to turn it off if you leave for like a week or two because the water in the reservoir will evaporate and ruin your heating coil other than that you just leave it on all the time.

Yes, in fact, if you just wanted a mug of hot water for tea, you fill up the mug, pour it in, and you should get a mug full back out. Just be sure to leave the filter cup on the coffeemaker, though. If you don’t, water will spray all over.

I am the only one that drinks coffee so I don't need the k cup side. if you need the k cup side then the duo is a good coffee maker. I love the 4 min brew time for the BUNN, Make sure you buy Bunn Coffee filters and you will love it. Just remember to turn the front switch off that is for the warmer plate. @@marys1358 no once the tank is full then it will stay full. just turn the switch on, on the back side of the coffee maker and leave it on all the time unless you are not going to use your coffee maker for about 5 days then turn it off, I call this the vacation switch. if you leave it on you have will have hot water all the time and it will be ready to brew coffee at anytime.

I can't wrap my head around why you'd want the water to be hot 24/7 instead of just having the water heat up when you need it? None of my coffee machines have done this, they only heat up when you press the on button.

Its fast. I think that's the only reason. 4 minutes and you have a full pot of coffee. It does taste good and a lot of big restaurants use the commercial version from bunn. Mcdonald's uses Bunn commercial coffee makers.

I thought the same thing too but my dad thinks its the best tasting coffee. He has used this type of coffee maker from Bunn for over 30 years. I am not a coffee expert but it does taste good to me.

NOT to mention how dangerous it is, Most appliances like coffee makers are recommended to be unplugged after use. Leaving a coffee maker on to keep water hot and ready 24/7 for that 5 minutes u need it in the morning???WTF??? that is frickin ignorant and dangerous and a waste of power. A real fire hazard too, leaving a coffee maker plugged in 24/7 to keep water hot is real not smart at all and the water reservoir doesn't have a window or a fill indicator of any kind, so if the reservoir is out of water You may now know it leaving a dangerous situation and a fire waiting to happen.

medium roast do tend to be a little lighter colored when brewed with this coffee maker. , but I found they taste good. What roast are you brewing a blond, breakfast or medium?

Anyone who complains about a Bunn Coffee maker is either daft or just pathetically daft! My Grandmother had one forever, as long as I can remember and it always made great coffee.

I can't even count the number of coffee makers I've gone through, but this is by far the worst one I've ever had. I'm genuinely surprised that there are so many positive comments.

Yeah is definitely brews the coffee really fast. I only have it for the speed. I can definitely get a better tasting coffee from a standard 14 min coffee maker. Thanks for Watching!
