Question of the Day: What is your favorite type of roadside stop? (FOOD - Larger than life attractions - Historic stops - rest stops)
@drkatarinablassik25922 жыл бұрын
We as a family usually on longer drives find that food is our favorite stop along the way. Finding something signature to an area, something different than we might have in our community it is nice to enjoy something a little different.

Second Monday in Bowie is an icon of the area. When I was young they had it downtown mostly at the RR tracks up from the Post Office and down toward the old Southward school. It would start on the Friday before the 2nd Monday of the month and continue through Sunday late. A few might even stay until Monday morning. If couldnt find what you wanted at that flea market, you didnt need it.

I stopped by to check out the giant bowie knife last year when I was passing through the area and it is an impressive and slightly absurd sight to behold! Since Since I wasn't in any hurry, I also stopped at the LaBelle Vintage Mall. Neat place with a lot of cool stuff! As a side note, since you were mentioning the Chisholm Trail, you ought to check out its namesake's gravesite. Next time you're passing through Oklahoma on I-40, it's a relatively short side trip up to Geary OK. Jessie Chisholm's actual gravesite is out in the country and off the beaten path but might make an interesting video. While up that way you could also visit the TB Ferguson Home and Museum (Oklahoma's 6th Territorial Governor) and Roman Nose State Park at Watonga.

There are 3 sit down Mexican/Tex-Mex Restaurants all of which have items which I LOOOOVE.... Possibly… But I’ve heard some older people also refer to it incorrectly so that’s why I wanted to make the clarification in kind of a silly way just to kind of make it a fun thing so that people would know how to say it I often associate entertaining teaching tools myself personally so if I find something to be humorous or for example the David Bowie comment I would automatically remember that going forward and make the adjustment in my head I have a weird learning style though LOL
