I Bought the Burgmüller 100 over 4 years ago! It’s from 1931 and in really bad condition but it’s notated by a piano student 😁 I believe I bought it at a collectors shop, in EL Paso Texas.

I've looked ar probably 10 or more videos on this specific piece. This is without a doubt the best. Others talk in too general terms. The attention to detail is excellent. Specifically showing how to roll the wrist and the discussion on dynamics is brilliant. I never considered smaller dim/crescendo on specific parts. Well done Sir!

You are so wonderful teacher, your explanation is beautiful. I recently started watching Lang Lang and his playing of Fur Elise is so perfect, only then I realised the true meaning of expression; the other versions sounds robotic and ordinary compared to his. I have started Burgmuller now with this piece, as I am moving towards the final pages of the 1st Piano Adv for adults.

@AkiraIkegamiChannel3 жыл бұрын
You can always try, but I don't recommend it. That to me sounds like learning how to play tennis using a Ping-Pong racket. You won't know the difference until you play on the real piano, but there is a significant difference between digital and acoustic pianos.

I so wish I had met you whenever started my piano journey 6byears ago. None of my teachers stressed techniques. I am still in book one of one of the technique books and it seems my teacher is not in a hurry to move me forward. I suppose I should take some responsibility for my progress. Am ready to quit. What is your suggestion.
@AkiraIkegamiChannel Жыл бұрын
It's hard to say unless I see your playing and hear more about the current situation. If you are interested, I do online consultation. In general, if you are questioning your progress, you should talk to your teacher and communicate your concerns. If you feel uncomfortable to do so, or if your teacher cannot give you satisfactory explanation, then s/he may not be a good match for you. It's not uncommon to try several teachers before you find the best match. I personally don't mind if my students take lessons with someone else for a second opinion, although I hear many teachers are very sensitive about it.

I've started taking lessons and my teacher says to lift my other fingers which aren't playing the key as high as possible. Is that ok for a beginner? As you say to keep your fingers on the keys.
@NimeuMusic3 жыл бұрын
That's like the worst thing you could do. All fingers that are not playing should be relaxed in a neutral position to avoid tension.
@davidtolabin53163 жыл бұрын
Might be transitory and for a specific purpose (I'm not a teacher so I have no idea). However, there shouldn't be any problem with asking your teacher as well.
@AkiraIkegamiChannel3 жыл бұрын
Like David said, I can think why someone instructs you to practice lifting fingers temporarily, if you are overlapping the notes or not releasing the keys completely. But eventually, you shouldn't lift your fingers. Just relax them so that the keys will naturally push them up.
@dianahausen66193 жыл бұрын
My teacher initially instructed me to do the same. He said it was because I wasn't releasing the other keys fully, which I hasn't realized I had been guilty of. He also gave me some exercises which I had to practice veerry slowly and in an exaggerated manner. It seems to have worked. 🙂
