On June 12, 2019, in the presence of family, First World War soldier Private George Alfred Newburn was finally laid to rest in France by the British Columbia Regiment (Duke of Connaught’s Own).
Private Newburn died at the age of 18 on August 15, 1917 in the Battle of Hill 70. He was a member of the 7th Canadian Infantry Battalion (British Columbia) Canadian Expeditionary Force.
His sacrifice will never be forgotten.
