I lost my husband in 1998. He wouldn't heed soft ice signs posted on the lake to caution snowmobiling. He was out on the ice at 3am when I decided to go to sleep to be up with our 4 year old daughter at 8am. I was woke up by the local police to tons of manpower on the lake trying to locate his snowmobile that went through the ice. My husband's actual remains weren't found until the Spring thaw, and was found in the loch system by the utilities company. I was 25 years old in 1998. I agree 100% with you.

Sliding into the hole upside down while so tight you can't move in any direction and the body unable to ever move in the direction to even get him back out. I actually shed a tear when I got to the end of the nutty putty story I watched, it's sad to put myself in John's shoes or anyone's he was with. Losing your arms and legs, not being able to breathe and being upside down for almost a day and talking to your family the whole time trying to figure out if you're coming home or not, like.. damn. Reminding yourself as someone who does extreme sports that you CAN die easily is probably a good thing, seems like most of these horror stories stem from people forgetting that, or foregoing the basic safety measures.

In Chattanooga, TN, my son wanted to see the cave Rock City. So off we went. There was one elevator that was jammed PACKED, The elevator was slow, finally to doors opened and you got off in a tunnel. A mob of people were coming to get on the elevator to go up. This skinny tunnel was a going start and another leaving. I started to hyperventilating and got back to the elevator cutting the line. I had to get out of there. Full blown panic attack. The elevator guy told me to go to the back and wait my turn. It was the last thing I remember until I came too in their First Aid Room. Have you heard a story about The Wildcat cave incident that takes place 58 years ago? A young boy name Morris Baetzoid, 15 years old, went exploring in a cave with his 2 friends after their school bus got a flat tire, forcing 16 youths and 3 teachers to cancel their trip to Schoenbrunn Village in Tuscarawas County. He was stuck in the same position like John Jones. He was trapped upside down for 24 hours, then the rope somehow pulled him out to safety and alive while John Jone's rope gave away and died a horrible death 27 hours later.
@edit4310 Жыл бұрын
So one thing people forget/don't know is the way John was positioned, his legs were already hitting the roof and he was facing forwards it meant they couldn't be bent without breaking them. The team considered this, but then realised the amount of stress he was in, being upside down for that long, blood pressure etc, breaking his legs would send him into shock, killing him.
@edit4310 Жыл бұрын
The rope around john's legs alone were so agonising for John that despite being pulled out of that situation he actually begged the team to stop a few times. His pain receptors were overly receptive at that point. Imagine breaking his legs? He would've definitely gone into shock.

This is my childhood horror scenario. I read a classic British fantasy novel when I was younger, The Weirdstone Of Brisingamen, where the characters have to crawl through an underground tunnel just like the one John Jones got stuck in. They can't turn back, it's too tight, and then the tunnel starts curving down, and they see that the tunnel's almost totally flooded ahead of them. They have to start slowly swimming on their backs, so that their mouths can reach the tiny part of the tunnel with air in it. Their noses are scraping the roof of the cave and because they're doing backstroke they can't see ahead of them. They just have to hope that the tunnel doesn't dip down any further and become completely flooded. That part of the book profoundly freaked me out, forever.
