Lovely fire, even in the rain, the oils and resin in pines are so flammable. A huge cleanup today. I have to say I felt so sorry for that little tree. It tried so hard to live and was foiled. Like a lot of humans really. Unfortunately I have a passion for all living things. I have trouble throwing unwanted seedlings and cuttings off shrubs, away. And don`t get me started on animals, I had 25 cats when we lived out west. And more animals than you could poke a stick at. Life to me is precious. in all it`s forms. Except spiders. Strong message.

Thank you Margaret. Right, it was tough to remove it after seeing what it went through to make it. But it definitely made an impact through the message. I brought it home and plan to keep it as it is. Probably for another message or two down the road. God Bless

That's a persistent tree. I cut down a tree about 15 yrs ago that was a large dead pine and left the stump, two trees grew out of the one stump. I guess the old stump rotted away and it became a double headed stump. Cut it down again and dug up the stump this time. The stump was large and you couldn't tell it was originally one tree that had become two. That's the one I didn't film digging up a while back.
@tristardiggin Жыл бұрын
I've seen some interesting growth from trees too. Pretty remarkable how determined they are to make it. Sounds like that stump you had was going to live no mater what.

Tell more about that outdoor furnace, Great message Brother!
@tristardiggin Жыл бұрын
The brand is Hardy Wood Heater. It is an outside woodburning furnace that has a water tank above the fire box. The hot water is circulated thorough a heat exchanger (basically a radiator) in the house and a fan in the duct work blows air accross the heat exchanger. Which heats the house. It also has a 50' coil of copper tubing in the water tank which cold water from the house circulates through. The water is heated while passing through the coil and goes into the water heater in the house. The water heater at that point is just a holding tank for the hot water coming from the furnace. I have an older video where I showed it. I will see if I can figure out which video it was so you can see it. Hope that makes sense.

Nice video as always. Saw y’all working when I was in Tennessee couple months back. Wanted to stop and say hey but didn’t wanna bother you. Get ya an LD18 bucket/thumb set up from AMI. Chris had it made exactly so the teeth of the bucket went between the tines on the thumb. Here’s the continued channel success!

You’re awesome! Great videos, and great message. I worked on a mulching video today but camera batt died half way through and then I got news of my next video I been waiting on and it’s just been a long crazy day full of blessings. I’ll have to see if I can make anything out of what I was able to film before it died. It’s on ROW as well so I may have to check with the entity before posting footage. Not sure if it would be allowed. I know they don’t allow any social media of our work or disasters either. That’s tree is really kewl. I have a few similar trees around my place. I really like finding odd deformed trees out in the woods. Thanks for another great vid!! Keep up the good work.
@tristardiggin Жыл бұрын
Thanks I appreciate it. Maybe you can salvage part of it. I can't even start to explain all the camera malfunction I have. Sometimes it just seems like it is way more difficult than it should be. But we just keep pushing on. That tree was neat to see.

@@tristardiggin yeah. I started to finish a bit on the phone. I had another battery about 1000 feet away in my truck. But I didn’t wanna walk that far to get it. Needed to stay there and keep getting ahead. Headed on a road trip in the morning so I needed to get done and get out tonight.

I was going to ask you in the last video how you liked the thumb setup on the Cat machine. I don't think I have seen a good one yet on a small machine. I'm mean, they work, but they aren't great for doing clearing jobs. I get it though, most smaller machines are used mostly for trench type work, and a wide thumb would get in the way. I've been thinking about making an attachment for my thumb that would bolt on for easy removal when I was digging footings, but could be re-installed when I do some clearing. It would make life a lot easier and probably faster for cleanup work. Great video brother.
@tristardiggin Жыл бұрын
The thumb for this bucket is so frustrating, for sure. On the 36" bucket it will go between the teeth which is great. I can work around the awkwardness of the thumb not following the bucket all the way back. I guess you call that a progressive link thumb. But you are right, an attachment to make it wider would be sweet for clearing jobs. Glad you enjoyed the message...

You could take a grinder and cut the weld of the shanks for the teeth that are hitting and move them over.
@tristardiggin Жыл бұрын
Thanks David I need to see how far I would need to move them. Also thinking about heating the thumb fingers at the bottom and flare them out just a bit to pass the teeth. But I need to check the 36" bucket because the thumb doesn't hit the teeth on it. Appreciate the info...
@smithworx1091 Жыл бұрын
That would drive me crazy with the thumb and bucket not mating correctly. You're making really good progress. I can't wait to get back to land clearing.
@tristardiggin Жыл бұрын
Wow! You're not kidding, so frustrating. I should check on the cost of a different thumb. Your recommendation of using the 24" bucket has helped with that thumb trying to pop off.
@smithworx1091 Жыл бұрын
@Tristar Diggin' good deal. My 24" and 36" would both mate up with the thumb like they're supposed to. Those teeth on your 24" look a little closer or maybe it's got an extra one compared to the one I had.
@tristardiggin Жыл бұрын
I think you are right about the extra tooth.

Can you tell us more about your wood furnace? Have your local fab company redesign your thumb to go between teeth, should be easy and fairly inexpensive.
