Burning fuel because I do not want wait; S4/E16

My friend Silvia told me that she had a month off, and asked me to organize a trip to a spot where we have never been. I immediately thought: "Vlieland". Vlieland is one of the Frisian Isles up in the North of The Netherlands and from what I heard it's a lovely Isle to visit. But hey, people do say a lot nowadays, so I wanted to check that out myself. We left Enkhuizen mooring bound to Vlieland.

The 4 camera's I use to produce my outdoor footage, are so called PTZ - P(an) T(ilt) Z(oom). Zoom, I only use on the rear camera, when I am underway. As you have seen I use the pan and tilt a lot. And in the dark they produce a great (short view) infrared image. I even can navigate in a marina at night on my cams.
Since they all are so called "IP camera's", each have an unique (hardwired) IP address (no DNS) in my network.

Waarom ik alles in het Engels doe?
Omdat ik video's kijk van Fransen, Denen, Noren, Spanjaarden, Portugezen, Duitsers én heel veel Engelstaligen die allemaal Engels lullen en ook bootjesmensen / liveaboards zijn. Want alleen dan kan je je ervaring wereldwijd delen. En wat blijkt? Mijn video's worden in 127 landen bekeken (zie S03/E01 voor de lijst). Veel van mijn kijkers en abonnees zijn Engelstaligen die mijn video's helemaal top vinden, omdat ze óf familie hebben uit Nederland, of hier jaren geleden zijn geboren en door omstandigheden nu elders op de wereld wonen. En, dat ik dan Engels spreek met een accentje (net als de Fransen, Denen, Noren, Spanjaarden, Portugezen, Duitsers overigens) dan interesseert hen dat helemaal niets.
Weet je dat Nederlandse ondertiteling aan kan zetten? Doorgaans zo'n 4 uur nadat de video is gepubliceerd. Klik op de video, en kies uit de iconen die rechtsonder verschijnen dan voor [ondertiteling] en kies daar voor Nederlands. Dan wordt zelfs mijn steenkolen Engels (knap he van die jongens en meisjes KZbin) vertaald naar Nederlandsch.

Thanks for this episode. I just returned from Workum from a three day sailing trip with my Albin Vega: Workum-Vlieland-Texel-Workum. Nice to see the place I have visited just a couple of days ago!

We were sailing for same reason ( fantastic weather, low winds) with our motorboat Azimut to London last week..we easily burned 30 % more fuel moving against the tide from Rotterdam to Queenborough, English coast, day after to London. It was a calm ride, but the return was very bumpy with winds 5+ Beaufort. Remember you returned from Ramsgate with huge trouble, and we had also seas with an average of 2 metres with tops of 3 metres..the return has been done with the tide from the Thamses Estuary with aft waves..needing around 8 hours on the open North Sea.

Whit the correct weather window things go way smoother, don't they? When for a trip you need two of those... 8 hours is very quick (in comparison with my speed). Do you have stabs?

No stabs, do not need it, because we are sliding when sea goes up.Azimut 43, 800 HP, 20 Kn/h on the North Sea..from Rotterdam to London on May 22th calm seas, back on May 29th, 5+ Beaufort, 2m sea, with some 3 m waves, entering Vlissingen, 52 operating hours, 2400 liter diesel burned...one lifetime moment

Something is perhaps reversed in the autopilot connection. If it wants to turn a lot on engagement it might want to make a U-turn. Check if all the sensor connection or calibration is right.

You may have accidentally swapped the cables of the pilot drive.

That cannot happen with the Raymarine, but I now know the EV1 was on a spot close to all electronics and that caused the problem. Ever heard of “RTFM”? It seemed to work in this case. :-) too.
