Taste from good to meh is as good as your popularity, so don't think of a cheap place is a bad/low quality place. The portions are that good ole American large and you can eat it for 2 or 3 meals. You can eat it in 1 go or get it to go, eat there, and save the rest for later.

No, dude, you got it. I'm in Nashville and Memphis a couple of times a year. I've tried a bunch of places, but the best places I've had it it's just really, really good fried chicken with an emphasis on spice. In a lot of places it's just mediocre or bad chicken with an emphasis on spice. I've never seen what the fuss is all about.

chess pie filling is usually butter, flour, sugar, eggs- basically a really sweet, somewhat custardy filling. the actual real way to identify a chess pie is that it is *sweet*. Usually vinegar or lemon juice is added to help offset the sweetness, somewhat, but it's essentially a sugar-custard pie. I think the version you had might have had a bit of cornmeal in, which does something interesting to the texture. I have a massive sweet tooth and chess pie is usually much, much too sweet for me.

The biggest reason our cornbread doesn't taste like jiffy is we don't sweeten it. It's oil, self-rising cornmeal, egg, and buttermilk. And chess pie tastes a lot like pecan pie to me, but without the nuts. You should try southern biscuits and gravy the next time you're down here, and maybe visit the Pancake Pantry if you go back to Nashville or Gatlinburg.

The problem with that Prince’s location in the assembly Foodhall is that they don’t serve anything other than tenders, you’ve got to go to one of their standalone locations to get the full light or dark meat quarters and that’s where it’s the best. I will not accept this prince’s slander!!

I've lived in the Austin area for about 20 years, and I feel the same about our restaurants. As soon as there is notoriety the food quality starts to slide. It's like you have to know when the best chefs/cooks are on shift or something because it's so unreliable. And when local places become chains, the first original and sometimes the 2nd are still good but the others aren't the same. It gets disappointing when you don't have much money or you are like me these days and just don't like to go out much. Is such a roll of the dice.

If you plan right you can enjoy a chemical that many cultures love to experience in its true form. For example, you can get a lot out of jumping jacks if you are new to the gym and it will stimulate the muscles but not be too harsh. In the same way the right amount of spice can be good for growth. Theres. a reason its stuck around for humans for so long

THIS. the Prince's downtown is purely for tourism and its a shame. The "original" location (which has moved a couple of times) is currently located on Nolensville Rd. and is the best hot chicken in nashville, and not just because its the original (side note, a Lg Dark was the go-to for our hot chicken parties growing up). Hattie B's is pretty consistent and a close second imho.

You need to read the essay "Some like it hot" by David Ramsey in the Oxford American, its an amazing short story about Prince's in Nashville, but the original location, and I think you'll really enjoy it. Its a great piece of writing that really captures the experience of the pain.

My favorite thing is that he’s calling it Broadway Street. It’s just said Broadway like the New York one😂 I live in Nashville and I always bring people to hattie B’s bc it’s always consistently good. I usually go to the one on Charlotte Pike or 8th ave. They’re further from downtown, but usually aren’t as busy. To give Prince’s a fair fight you should go to the one on Nolensville Rd in south Nashville. The one on Broadway is like a food court version and not the full experience. Prince’s is considered the original place in Nashville. Bolton’s in east Nashville is also a good option

I'm glad to live close enough to Nashville to get hot chicken every now and then. I gasped when you covered your fingers in the 'Shut the cluck up' oil because I know from personal experience that you'll need to wipe the tears away very, very soon. Im born and raised in Tennessee, and used to go to Hattie B's back in the day before Nashville turned into a giant slum. It used to be a little shack behind a CVS off 21st ave. I am extremely surprised to see that they are a massive restaurant now with merch and everything lmao. I never thought it was any good, but my mom liked it, so I would take her there every sunday after church.
