Burnout paradise represented my entire childhood, cars and crashing. I used to just absolutely obliterate my toy cars, and burnout became my favourite game on the same day I first played it. miss the good times of arcade racing games

Burnout paridise was the first one in the franchise that I tried out on my Xbox one. I liked it so much, that I pulled out my Xbox 360 and bought burn out 1,2,3, and revenge. Burn out revenge is my favorite one in the franchise as it's just a refined burn out 3.

If you haven’t noticed by now, Stellar Entertainment, which is the team split from Criterion has been working on a AAA racing arcade game for several years now. You said exactly what I always say about the unlicensed cars, you can literally do anything you want with them, if you can't have a dream car in a racing game about destruction and street racing then you can try to make it look like one if not better, but almost everyone seems to not agree.

I remember my brother coming home from work one night with this, and he asked me to give it a shot. It was probably a month or two after release, I hadn’t heard of it but boy howdy, it was definitely a game way ahead of its time. Countless hours of my life was spent Online with my friends, grinding to get the Chrome & Carbon Fibre cars and make our mark on the Leaderboards. … and then EA just released all of the very hard to get stuff from Online in a pack, making the Gold & Platinum paint along with the Chrome & CF cars virtually meaningless as you could just buy the work.

And now, it's one of my absolute favorites, a game I come back to time and time again (along with it's predecessors) because it will never not be fun to wreck at 200 MPH. Great video! @yerbasanta505Nobody is talking about sales, they don't even mean anything in this context. It's like comparing modern Doom to Call of Duty; Yes the latter sells better, but the other made a comeback after being on ice for decades and still was a better "standing out game" as you called it, despite selling incomparably less. Besides, NFS literally does the same thing Forza Horizon does with its maps; Roads are a mere suggestion and cops are a just nuisance. Burnout Paradises comparably restrictive open world gives way to more mechanics, tactics and novelty to places, that don't conform to the rules the majority of the map uses. That's the reason the Quarry, the Dirt Track, the Big Surf Construction Site and the Airstip feel so much more memorable and special than the Tracks in Heat, Unbound & Motorfest or the various Horizon Festivals (except the first, that one had actually function compared to the glorified all-in-one garages after it). It also helped that the special places in Paradise were also unmarked and had actual stuff to do, like skate-pools and barrel rolls and collectibles that don't force you to stop (looking at you Motorfest, Forza Horizon and any NFS after 2015!)

I like how you mentioned underground 2 on the same vein as this game, because that would probably be my favorite open world racer if it wasn't for Burnout Paradise's existence. This might be just me putting on my rose colored glasses in the highest of priorities, but to me this game has executed a concept even better than what I came to be obsessed over to begin with, of which I barely see not just in the racing genre, but in most videogames generally speaking, that alone was enough reason for me to get the remaster on a discount just so I could experience it all over again, alongside the content I was gatekept out of as someone who only had a computer at the time. (For added context, most games published by EA between 2006 and 2012 would either be totally different versions (such as their sports line up of yearly releases) or have content that would be only reserved for consoles at the time, one jarring example being the big surf island expansion). I want to also mention the multiplayer aspect of things, because this is where criterion introduced freeburn challenges, that are simply a collective of events where you would do certain tasks and/or tricks alongside the collaborative effort of other players, and under the right conditions, those can be fun as well, not to mention cops 'n robbers which was another online exclusive mode, which is effectively more similar to that seen in need for speed undercover, but I believe paradise nails it better simply due to the aforementioned mechanics such as how the driving works and etc. If there's any other racing game franchise that a lot of people who grew up with the genre, is undoubtedly Burnout, and given the increase of people fawning over this series either coming back to it, or experiencing it for the first time, gives me a small bit of hope that EA's executives are starting to notice a trend regarding the discourse surrounding this topic, so with enough time, there might be either a new entry to such a dormant IP, or have something in a similar vein done by either Criterion or Codies, or even created by some third party, regardless, I still have some hopium left for what is genuinely some of the most entertainment people can get from a video game.

Thanks for this great video showing it off, and I also agree with most of the things you said with this. However, IMO, Road Rages got to be a good bit harder as you progressed and you can restart events via the Easy Drive menu and I never minded driving to the junkyard to switch cars. :) I also do like how all the DLC was made available, not being able to play most of them was a big bummer as a kid.

Great Video as always! I also just earned my Burnout License as i’m replaying this awesome game! If I could add something to this video, it would be that the Remastered Version that you played is actually very different to the 1.0 original release on X360/PS3, and in my opinion made worse than those originals. Changes between the 1.0 and latest releases include: - UI colors and elements were changed - Billboards became more generic in the Remaster - All Top Speeds of Cars were lowered in the Remaster - Engine sounds were changed, they became more muted and not as exaggerated in the Remaster - Crash physics were also toned down slightly in the Remaster, making cars not flip over as much - AI Drivers were made slower and easier + Stunt Runs were made easier in Remastered - Other minor graphical differences like when crashing, the color palette becoming very pale with over exaggerated red colors, smoke coming out of exhausts when nitrous was low etc. These differences IMO make the Remaster lose some of the character and atmosphere that the original release had, it made the game feel more casual and not as exiting as 1.0. That said the Remaster introduced a day and night cycle, the original only had daytime, so some things did get improved. There is a video comparing 1.0 and the latest release and in there you can see some of the differences that i listed and more: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGrOmGOOo5iMq6ssi=Z_wkWKMBoIOg3WQS Like i said though great video on one of my favorite games, keep up the amazing work you are doing, we love your content man❤

I know that probably someone has said this already, but restarting the events was possible through quick menu (activated on d-pad right) for many, many years, since at least The Ultimate Box days. Apparently, game didn't tell people enough about this menu. I think it was mentioned only once, early on, right when you're bombarded with tutorials (which is a flaw). Another thing that I saw people were not aware of was Showtime mode. Maybe it's not what people remembered from old Burnout titles, but it can be fun if you're not grinding it for achievements. One cool thing about Showtime is: You can activate it at ANY time. If you know you'll lose the event, just transition to it and do some rampage to cool off before trying previous event again. Game is fun and its experience is well designed for the most part. The map especially, since its perfect for speeding through it and adrenaline rushes, as well for playing around with its secret locations. Alone or with friends. There are a lot of flawed aspects I'm aware of, which could be tweaked and improved in the next game, but we'll probably not see it coming anytime soon. One of them for me are the DLCs. These feel so disconnected from the base game single player experience, especially Big Surf Island. They're definitely designed with multiplayer in mind, which I liked to play, but they're not fitting the seamless experience base game brought to us. Another one would be the difficulty level, which certainly dropped with new patches (I think). Game feels too forgiving sometimes. Old Burnouts were fun too and most people will glorify Takedown and Revenge, shitting on this one for no particular reason (or maybe because it's not Takedown or Revenge again), but even with its flaws this one was a step up and I love it personally.

Something you didn't touch on, but is worth mentioning - the original Burnout Paradise was one of the most optimized games I'd ever played. Used it on a potato PC, but the framerate was always smooth as butter.

this game was a blast! i remember in 2018 when i got the remastered i still had the same fun as 10 years before! also car models are pretty nice, the only sad thing is that you can't make your own colors of change rims, but still the car models had great design and honestly i think they're better than gta5 models, they feel more real and proportions are pretty good!

I spent literal years playing Burnout games. Burnout 3 Takedown was the first for me. Burnout Revenge I beat more times than I can count. Burnout Dominator on my PSP. and finally uncountable hours on Burnout Paradise on my PS3 both offline and online with many of my friends. It was genuinely my favourite game to play. If a new Burnout game came to fruition, or heck even a remaster of something like Revenge. I would likely spend endless hours playing it. It was a huge part of my childhood, it helped me find my music tastes, and make countless memories. I look very fondly on Burnout and hope one day it will return.

I have played all Burnout games (yes, even Crash, it was boring), but i had the PS2 version Burnout Dominator, i discovered the series through demo that was in NFS Underground 2, since then Burnout became one of my favorite racing series along side NFS and Midnight Club I would love a new Burnout game too, the rumour is that Stellar Entertainment is making a new Burnout Game as tweeted an image with the text "You're about to be rear ended"and the words "take downs" If they remaster another game from the series, i prefer Burnout 3: Takedown

I still play the remastered version on my PS3 regularly, and it hasn't gotten old for me. Still holds the same chaotic charm as it did when I first booted it up.

whenever i stayed over my uncle’s house as a kid, he had an xbox 360 and we played two games together mainly: PGR 3 and Burnout Paradise. Have a lot of fond memories of just laughing at causing crazy crashes in road rage or showdown mode p.s love the music choices. Sonic Unleashed is another 360 game i am very fond of!

I'm hoping you would make a video about the Midnight Club series. The game was very underrated in its use of open world, and IMO did a better job than burnout paradise at open-world racing.

I will say that having a waypoint system would be very helpful, I do believe that a reason they might not have had one is to get the player to learn the map better. I know when I was playing, overtime I would get better at getting around the map and finish races faster just from trying to find a junkyard which would make me learn more routes. It also helps that the map is designed so well that it feels like every street flows together no matter what direction. Great video, I missed this game so much

This was my childhood, I loved playing Burnout Paradise, the open world was really fun to explore and driving around it was seriously amazing, the car list felt great due to how varied it was from high powered race cars to aggressive death machines. Overall, I miss Burnout Paradise and Burnout as a whole and want to start playing all over again, due to this excellent video.

I was never a big fan of playing racing games online, but I ended up playing Burnout Paradise for more than 3000 hours on the PS3. What a game. It was so much fun that we had, playing those online challenges. I made friends, some of them I still know today, 15 years later. I agree with almost everything you said. It's just an unbelievable game. It will probably never be like that again. But we still hope for a new Burnout, which hopefully isn't messed up, like so many modern racing games.

I wish NFS got rid of the on road turn markers and forced racers to use the minimap. That adds such an extra layer to street racing games. At the very least make that a difficulty setting.

If they make a new burnout, I unironically do not want it to be open world anymore. It was cool growing up when I was in china playing single player exploring, but over the years the map of paradise felt like a prison the more i played, and the remaster added nothing. It felt bland over the years, and another thing that bothered me was no actual car classes, if I wanted to use the annihilator online i would be met with nighthawk gts everywhere and formula one cars. It felt annoying, especially with no select route online, nor lap races. I don't know. On release of paradise it was great, but all grown up I see myself abandoning it and going to revenge and 3 instead. I like the car classes in 3, and loved the location variety in both games. I feel like it would have been easier to cope if they added a lot of the old cars from previous games in some nostalgia pack dlc for the remaster, but they just made the game look prettier and walked away. Been very agitated since

Paradise and Most Wanted 2012 are my 1-2 faves of racing games. There most likely will never be another in the series tho since...allegedly...EA bought Criterion specifically to get their engine and talent AND to kill the Burnout series. The same tactic for buying so many other racing series like the Codemasters games, for example. No competition means NFS stays unchallenged. MW2012 was actually supposed to be the next Burnout game which you see if you eagle eye the license plates in the MW trailer. However some of the Burnout team are working on Wreckcreation via Nordic THQ (Wreckfest, etc) so I hold hope for that.

Few additions : the remastered actually reduced the number of takedowns required, it increments slower in the remastered than in the ultimate box version, and the maximum is 20 instead of 40 (that change makes sense cause 40 is a lot and grinding the elite license is so much longer on the ultimate box version just because of that). It also added a button in the easy drive menu to cancel the current event so you don't have to stop and wait. In the original release in 2008, the early game cars were much faster and the trafic was a lot more dense, so the game was actually very hard back then. The takedown requirements in road rages as well as the score goals in stunt runs were also higher than in the ultimate box version. Great video, summed up very well my own opinion about this game after playing it for around 300 hours all versions and platforms combined

I would honestly be super happy with a new burnout that is the expanded original map of paradise I really hope the rumors are true that a new game is in the works But until then I’m gonna build a Carson Inferno Van

I credit this game with crafting my love for music and my love for cars. My favorite band is . n roses and for the longest time my favorite song was Paradise City, all because of this game. I have hundreds of ours on this game spread across so many separate playthroughs. I have finished the game countless times and still have yet to be bored. I found it especially nice that this video came out right after I started another playthrough and got my friends into it aswell. Its just so sad that only a handful of people play this game on a daily basis anymore. It will forever be my favorite game of all time. You did miss a few more things that made this game so great, like all of the online modes or showtime, but still a great video in honor of such an amazing game.

This is a great retrospective about one of the best arcade racers ever made, i love burnout paradise, completed it at 100% twice, i also have the platinum trophy on playstation, this game really was a revolution for the genre and it still holds up pretty well after 15 years, much better than any other soulless open world racing game out there or even games that are supposedly "built from the ground up".
