I feel so strongly about telling your story over spamming people by telling them to listen to your song! I totally get why people do it though. Get your visuals on point, tell your story, communicate in your own style and that will then encourage people to go listen to your track if they haven't already 😁

Making good music is my main focus. People seem to forget this is the music industry. If you have 50 REALLY GOOD songs, you will create that fan base if you just spend a few bucks on ads. If you have a strong social media presence and LOTS OF GREAT MUSIC for people to stream, well at that point you have a music career. Your music needs to have replay value, that way you’d get more streams. Would be cool to hear your channels opinion on SoundCloud. It’s still one of the biggest platforms to promote your music.

Good music is maybe 10% of the total equation. I have over 30 great videos on my YT alone and 193 subs. More important than great music is music that people want to listen to. That's why so many artists make covers, and why I'm focusing mainly on that this year. More important than the music is your image appeal. That's why rap is so popular. Rap promises that oh so cool in-ness that makes someone feel like they are part of that materialistic and grandiose lifestyle.
@LANCEVXNCE4 жыл бұрын
Derek DeMuth that’s very true. Covers do work well. But it may be difficult once you try to monetize. It would be hard to transition also. If your fans know you for more making covers, I’m not sure how easy it will be to start introducing your original work, I’ve seen only a few pull it off.

You guys are always putting us on some game! Much love! When it comes to Facebook & Instagram ads, how do you make it so that your audio from your music isn't super compressed and terrible sounding in the actual ad? I've seen some more popular artists have cleaner sounding audio in ads, but a majority of the time I've seen lesser known artist's ads have that over compressed sound.
@effisummerscreative4 жыл бұрын
I'd be interested to know this too. Social media is terrible for compressing 😥

Haven't had an issue with this at all?! Are you sure it's not the editing program you're using?

@@Burstimo I don't believe it's the editing program. For example, my recent single sounds perfectly fine on all streaming platforms, the music video where I made my ad clips from sounds nice as well, but as soon as I upload it to Facebook ads manager and my ad goes live, the difference in quality is super noticeable. I've researched this a bit and I guess Facebook compresses all their videos to save space on their servers. Please help!

Dear @burstimo Important question that nobody seems to know the answer off: Can u send a link from spotify to a promoter of your unreleased song? Set the scene: I have an upcoming release. I submitted this via Spotify for artists etc. Great tips of your channel. But now I have contact with a promoter who asks for the link of the song to listen to it before it’s release (a spotify link). I understood there isn’t such a link besides pre-saves and a uri-link. Can u please help me out! I asked allot of other producers and they do not know it either and they want 2 so I think allot musicians want to know

It wouldbe great in a future vid to maybe look at some typical numbers, results and costs u guys encounter to serve as a guide for when to pull an ad or pat yourself on the shoulder. By the way Maddy is looking so business smart in this vid :-) Big ups guys and thanks.

Another awesome video! I liked your talk about not using ads until an artist is established enough. How big do you think an artist needs to be before it's worth spending on ads? Is there a metric you've used in the past?
@effisummerscreative4 жыл бұрын
I would make your investment relative to your success/income from music. When you're earning nothing I would spend nothing (unless you have access to some magic money or funding or something). As you start to gain traction, start thinking about investing. The actual metrics would be up to the individual I feel and I would use a certain amount of gut instinct alongside the numbers. Just my opinion though :)

Best to have an audience on your content who are likely to engage as that proves you've nailed your content strategy and the money you invest into ads to push people to places such as Instagram will be worth while

So in terms of content, if you fall more on the "mysterious side" of the artist scale, how do you create polished content that isn't passed over or seen as an ad?
@Burstimo4 жыл бұрын
Impossible question to answer without knowing the artist and the message but it needs to be something eye catching so visually pleasing whilst also having something different about it e.g. the message Or you retarget a few times with similar ads, so the audience recognise the brand

Re-targeting people is presented as not necessarily ideal here - in Alex' tutorial video about fb ads however, this is presented as the thing to do, even via a three step model: from generating awareness for your product (music) to actually requesting people to buy/stream it. Has your experience changed a lot here, or is this matter very different for different artists?

so, I'd like some perspective on this, my band is very "anti-political", we find political artists very cliche and typical in todays industry. Also, the "message" most bands have is basically the same, "be yourself" or "be inclusive" kind of stuff, which is fine, it's a good message, however, we find not saying anything political ever is the purest form of being inclusive, as you never alienate anyone. How could we go about creating a narrative that our "message" is to actually be inclusive rather than using the word "inclusive" and alienating people?
@effisummerscreative4 жыл бұрын
This is a great way to go imo. I think you'd capture that narrative however you can, whether it's through lyrics, content, visuals... HOW you do that has unlimited amounts of possibilities. I think you'd start with lots of discussion and research of other artists' stories and slowly put together your own plan 🤷🏻♀️ Just my two cents though
