James, I just love your reviews. You present all the important information in a very approachable package. The only reviews that give you a real sense of how the boards ride and I feel like I'm right there with you. Cheers for all the effort you put in. I really appreciate it. Can I ask, did you prefer the Depp Thinker & the High Fidelity sound pretty similar. Did you prefer one over the other?

Thanks! Greatly appreciated! I personally liked the DT better but it really comes down to what calls to you more. If you want something stiffer and narrower size vs. size with better float then the HF could for sure work. Especially if you like the more old school narrow width for the length.

As an all rounder would you pick the Deep thinker or the BSOD, especially for deeper snow?

My first board was the 95 Terje pro model and it’s a shame Burton has never had good edge grip in hard to icy snow. Especially considering they’re from the east coast.

I have loved my Flight attendant 159w but it has been discontinued. Debating HTH or this DT. Any thoughts on which is closer to the FA? I am actually similar stats to you 180lb, 9.5 boot, 5 foot 10. Ride out in Golden and Fernie so went wider for soft days and no risk of toe drag at any angle. Love the reviews keep up the good work.
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 27 күн бұрын
Tough call. So you rode a 159w with 9.5's? Is that 9.5US or UK/AU/NZ or do you just like a wider board for harder carving? HTH is probably the closest in terms of shape, sidecut and ride but just a little shorter per size and a little more set back, but it has ultra light construction so compared to the FA it will feel less damp/chatter more but have more pop. The Deep Thinker could work too but it has a more different shape/sidecut that feels more narrow/quick initiating a turn but then doesn't feel as quick through the radius but its still a very fun turn. Just different. It's got similar dampness compared to the FA you have if you get a similar size in wide and it's got similar float in pow. If you want to get into it more, hit me here to give me more info to help you much better. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

@@thegoodridesnow Thanks that’s helpful. Yeah just like the wide for no worries about drag, and the extra float. Being that I went from an old ride timeless 162 the FA was so easy to turn. So didn’t notice any downside to wide. Cheers

you mentioned this isnt good in low angle pow. can you explain what features/characteristics make boards good in low angle pow? would boards like the jones flagship/k2 passport be better in low angle pow?
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow Ай бұрын
The Flagship is better and the Passport is about the same. There are many factors that come into play but look for a good set back on board, a long as nose with rocker before and generally a medium to longer length that helps you keep speed when it's deep and not steep.

When you put your bindings on this do you use the same screws that you normally use on other boards or is it specific screws for the channel system?

The HTH has a more pop and float but the DT is much better in uneven snow and I like the quicker turn initiation. Overall I like the DT better but you might like the HTH if you are lighter for the right size and like ultra poppy boards.

can you give a quick compare/contrast vs the korua otto (non plus version)? like to ride fast, hit side hits/park, carve in that order
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 3 ай бұрын
Yeah Otto carves harder and feels a touch stiffer and is more damp in soft uneven snow. Grips a little better too with a faster base. Comes in more of a mid/wide carve friendly size vs. the DT comes in regular and wide so the regular 157 vs. the 157 Otto is much narrower/quicker to initiate a turn. Has taper so you feel that a little vs. no taper with the Otto. The DT Pops easier and while it doesn't grip as hard handles hard uneven snow better.

Im 5’10 140-150, size 9 boot, do i do 154 or 157? I ride a 155 blossom right now for park/all mtn
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow Ай бұрын
The 157 will have a similar feel control/turning wise vs. the Blossom you have now so that's probably a better fit. I'd only go 154 if you want something easier to control/turn at the expense of some speed, carving power and float. Go with what appeals to you more.

No problem. Pretty expansive question. HTH is more directional, tapered and set back with a little less board on snow so you feel like you are riding from the tail more. The last couple years have a lighter more poppy less damp feel to it as well. The SK has similar construction/dampness to the DT but is softer and has a and much more set back/directional ride than both. It's best for pow and a more mellow turny ride.

@@thegoodridesnow2020 hth 152 and 154 DT are on my quiver. Definitely feel the overlap. Your flex and directional comment is on point. Hth rides with bindings more forward no problem just that the tail is so stiff.

@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 2 ай бұрын
163w would be much better if you want this to feel more similar to how I described it. I'd only go 160w if you like smaller boards for your specs so you have easy control over how fast, poppy and floaty it should be.

Do you prefer this board over the Custom
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 3 ай бұрын
Yes, I like this better as a daily driver and a one board quiver a lot more than the Custom but it all comes down to personal preference. If you love full camber and don't want a board as set back and directional or don't like taper the Custom might be the call.

i have a 2024 shadowban and standard uninc. thinking about adding this to the quiver in the 2024 graphic. looking for something stable not too demanding and easy to turn. would this or the jones frontier be good? dampness is very important too
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 3 ай бұрын
Sorry for missing this! Man, that is a lot of overlap with the boards you have now and not sure if you want a quiver of 3 all mtn boards if you add the Frontier. The DT would give better float and be a little more directional but not sure if that's the call. I have so little info to work with here that it's very hard to help. It would be better If you hit me here to give me the info I need to help you much better. I have limited time to help and YT is a horrible place to get advice just because most don't know what info they need to give me to help. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/
