I like that kind of stories and yes, keeping calm is the most important step in finding solutions of nearly every kind of problem. People tend to forget about that. Thanks for sharing!

Broke a fanbelt in an old VW camper van. Used Swiss army knife to make holes in each of the ends and tied them together with some cord. It lasted for a long time until I could change it out.

I had a broken pump and no support whatsoever... Removed the belt... Kept topping water and was splashing water every now and then on the radiator... Managed 100 kms.... That too on a sweltering summer... Took me 6 hours to cover that distance... By the way I own a series one... This incident happened with an old Isuzu trooper.... And I always carry spare belts... Good one... Keep it going

First time I’ve visited your channel and I like what I see. Like yourself I travel on some very lonely tracks and like to be well prepared. Good advice about just chilling out and assessing the situation. Of course some people will still have “all the gear and no idea”. Safe travels👍

When the serpentine belt went on my 300 TDI I was able to nurse it 25 miles home by stopping every few minutes to cool down, but in British weather.

G’day Geoff, good effort,ya gotta keep trying, don’t give up.Yes,stay calm.As you say,you are driving a”proper” Land Rover, and my newer TD5 with it’s serpentine belt is a lot harder to improvise for,so I absolutely have to have a spare or else, hahaha. The beauty of keeping it simple 👍 Take care mate, best wishes 🙂

Hi Wayne. You are spot on. The TD5 is a solid bit of kit and just like any Land Rover you just need to cater to its odd little habits. Glad you enjoyed the video and best of luck with your adventures. Kind regards, Geoff

Good grief! You could talk the leg off an iron pot. All viewers wanted to know was what you used as a belt. Instead we got a diatribe of reminiscing, interspersed with anecdotes about using common sense as if the audience was composed of a kindergarten class. Nonetheless, we all know about the fast forward facility which saved the day. The saving grace was that the video included Land Rovers. Cheers cobber. 🙏🏽🙏🏽😷😷🦘🦘

G’day Graham. Sorry for chewing your ear off, though the title does suggest a tail. Thank you for your honest and frank feedback and we will take it into consideration for future videos. The great attribute of common sense is sadly in limited supply in this new world. Thanks for you patience Graham and I hope you got the info you needed out of the video and thank you for watching. Many thanks, kind regards, Geoff
