New video on my recommended neck knife that I use in the field - the Castrom Safari, made by the English Knife Maker Alan Wood. I also show other alternatives when purchasing a neck knife for your outdoor pursuits.
Neck knives are great for carrying a blade on you when outdoors, perfect for camp cooking, bushcraft and daily tasks.
Thank you so much for watching!
Take care x

The bullet proof Kabar Becker Necker BK11 in custom kydex sheath and micarta scales for me everyday/everywhere for years now. It goes on when I get out of bed and only take it off to sleep or shower. I am NEVER without it. Throw in my Victorinox Farmer and I am all set for just about anything. Try this combo and you will not be disappointed.

You won't go wrong with a Casstrom knife, not always the most modern of steels (for the metal snobs) - but rock solid performers you can trust your life with. The Lars Falt model has a particularly comfortable handle.

My wild camping began with this channel, I knew other channels prior to it, but for some reason I hesitated to do it, and then when I have seen this channel and Becky mentioned she lives near Surrey Hills, it was at the time when I was working on a temporary contract in North East London. Seeing Becky, Mr Bushwacker and Louise having blast in the woods, I made the decision to become an outdoor person, up till this year I was never an outdoor person, always preferred to stay home, play games, watch movies and waste time on other things on the internet... Thanks to Becky my life had changed, and now I cannot live without wild camping. I have done around 16 camping trips this year and I just came back from Wales and Scotland, camping on mountains, valleys and beaches, such freedom and adrenaline... If I only lived somewhere close any forest I would probably be camping every single weekend, the closest forest is around 30-40 mins drive, but that does not stops me from going and camping! The price and time is worth all of it!

My favorite everyday carry here in the US is my push dagger in a wooden clip-on sheath on my waist and I made both myself and I can draw it and replace it with one hand without looking, I used magnets to naturally pull blade into the sheath. I prefer a push dagger out of all fixed blades because the handle doesnt stick up high and bump my side.

The size is perfect it is nice and flat the handle is very ergonomic and the blade shape which I call a dolphin blade is one of my all time favorites. You have chosen well grasshopper.

I tend to carry either a Swiss Army Knife (I own 4) or a Leatherman (choice of 3, always carry a Wave with a bit kit and a maglite solitaire in my laptop bag). Not for any reasons related to bush craft, I work in IT so I always carry a knife with me for opening boxes, plastic clamshell packaging, cutting cable ties, wire stripping etc and it's usually handy to have one with a few screwdrivers on it as well. Always like to watch videos like this, I've always liked knives and multitools and rarely need an excuse to buy another one!

Small discreet neck knives are ideal for removing snagged fishing line around lakes and streams, or ridge lines left by careless campers. My huge pet peeve is how much damage these invisible snares cause to wildlife, and the brutal fatalities that were not necessary. Having a small effective every-day carry permits all bushcrafters to participate in Ranger Rick style removal of dangerous debris effortlessly and in short order with any convenient neck knife. Cheers! Plus your doing your part !

Great video as always. I've tried several neck knives and can just never get comfortable with them. Like you I used para cord as a lanyard and it just has a high tinsel strength as far as breaking. Hi awesome review and the knife looks great and super functional indeed. I do carry an Esee Izula 440C fixed blade as a neck knife and it works really well 👌🏾 I do however see the importance in a blade stock that is on the thick side For most food preparation tasks you would require a thinner slicier blade Especially on smaller fixed blade knives. The Esee Izula is 4mm and tapers thinner towards the tip ofcourse. I understand that the blade was designed as a small survival knife and perhaps also bushcraft, therefore the thicker blade stock. Where sometimes a stronger blade makes more sense in a survival situation.

To clarify the knife law issue, in the UK a small pocket knife with a non-locking folding blade less than 3 inches in length is not illegal, unless you do something illegal with it (threaten or stab someone). If you have a locking or fixed blade*, or just longer than 3 inches, the knife can be considered an offensive weapon. There are defences to this, however if you can provide evidence of "lawful authority or reasonable excuse", it is "for use at work", for "religious reasons" or "as part of a national costume". This could be that you have bought the knife and are taking it home (it is in a bag in packaging), you need it for your job or you are doing something like this where a knife is a common tool. The key is to show your intent, so you don't keep the knife on you or loose in your car, you have it in a bag with the rest of your kit. The defences are supposed to be tested by cross examination, but police don't generally stop and search people for no reason, so if you are using knives lawfully you are unlikely to be arrested. *Note some knives are just plain illegal.

Though I’ve over 300 knives (reviewed on my channel), I think I’ve only one neck-knife, the Mora Eldris. I’ve never carried it, or any knife, round my neck, as I’ve always been been concerned that I’d get it caught up and hang myself. Belts, pockets and even bags seem to much safer. If you are putting a cord round your neck, there should be a breakaway in it.
