Wez, thank you for the video. Your roof poles seem like you knew exactly how long to cut them. How do I do this before I have my roof framed in?

Won't the wood driven into the ground rot after a while? How long is the lifetime of a shelter such as this? I've lived in cities throughout my life, my knowledge in these things are limited.

Zip ties- fast yes; your private property, your choice, otherwise it is litter. I say it's better to use jute twine or cotton rope, biodegradable is better in the long run.

The guy can make his own saw, I'm sure he can scare up some vines and tie it all up with them, zip ties were for demonstration.

@Honken A long time ! It depends on how well and how you build it ! If you build it right it will stay up and last a respectable amount of time

Simple builders trick for trigonometry of a right angle without sin/cos/tan, if you measure out a triangle on 2 walls, of lengths 3 and 4, then if the angle is 90deg the hypotenuse will be 5.

its a long term survival shelter do you realy think it matters if you use rope or plastic. i choose plastic it last longer and i dont have to carry 500 hundrad feet of it. so way to go old timer keep on truckin .

@ZombifyIt you can easily smuggle a knife-blade in your belt-closing (? in german "Gürtelschnalle") onboard a plane and of course offboard :P but perhaps it is indeed better to buy it where you want to go when youre there because you dont want to use the knife on the plane and the risk of being caught isnt worth the 12€/$/(I have no key for Pound on my keyboard) for a new knife... i wish you good luck where ever you go to now... if you do so. maybe you were just joking :D

I never liked the lean to style of shelter,. I want to be covered on all sides... makes me feel safer and cozier at nite. I dont want to be visible and just be under a canopy, Know what I mean? I like being fully surrounded by walls.

Zip ties= polluting the forest? Compared to How much material went into the house/apartment you are typing your little KZbin bitchings from? That's like complaining about a grain of sand being too large from mt. Everest.
